You know how there's so many sites that feature relationship tests? Why not feature a DJ Aptitude test on this site, for ppl to identify their strong points and areas they need help in. An example question could be:

You see a HB9 at the coffee shop sitting by herself. Your best approach would be to:
a. just stand there
b. stare at her until she says something
c. ask her what type of coffee she's drinking
d. introduce yourself and mention you haven't seen her there before
e. none of the above

You get the idea. 60 questions or so would work split into 5 or 6 categories such as The Intial Approach, Clubs and Bars, Sex, Relationships, and so on. One could even go a step further and create tests for each area of DJing.

Depending on how much work the mods or whoever are willing to put into it, each question could be weighted and the recepient would be rated on a point system. Your point total determines your current status i.e. 0-20 pts AFC 20-40 RAFC 40-60 Novice DJ and so on. These could be great for positive reinforcement and can give the AFCs especially a goal to shoot for.

And the correct answer is E

Several of the above were good but your not taking into the environment for an opener. What is she doing besides drinking coffee? What is she wearing? Did something funny happen while you were in line?

You see what I'm saying. Make sure your test is complete.

I feel you man. I was being very generic. There are so many different combinations and permutations of situations. These questions would be more or less general rules of thumb.

That's a great idea, but who is going to be bothered enough to actually write it?

edit: maybe ppl can just reply to this thread with one question and mods can compile a list?

Whats the point of this? It would just make more keyboard jockeys and its just a way for people to brag about their "DJ" skills...It would be better to go outside and take a walk...

I have proposed this many times,

of course to do it, more then one person would have to be involved...

I even found a great FREE program to do it...

http://school.discovery.com/quizcenter/quizcenter.html

the tests include tons of options including...

multiple choice, essay, short answer, fill in the blank, ect.

You can have the answers corrected by the computer[except things like essays of course] and either sent to your email account, let the person see them, or both, and a few others I belive...

anyway... I think it would be a great idea, not to rate a person, but to help people figure out where there lacking, and for you to be sure you have a rough idea of your stuff...

of course taking the test and scoring 100 doesn't mean your the best, nor does 0 mean your the worst, just rough guidelines...

anyway...

I doubt people will go for it. Every time I propose it it automatically gets shot down and called stupid...

This would be like giving someone a driver's license just for passing a written test without ever having to get behind the wheel. All a high score would really prove is how much you've read this site.

I've gone up 10 points! woohoo!

Actually, I, nor you, should give a ****.

It is relevant to where you started and how are you've come and where you're going. Not everyone started in 1st grade.

There are enough finite general DJ principles that could be used for this test. Even artists go to school and take tests. It's all about technique to get you started.
