My dad is claiming that a city inspector approached him on his driveway, and claimed there are trace amounts of urea formeldahyde coming from the home, and left with him a blue business card to contact him. Dad sounded very animated about this conversation and insists that we have to do these costly repairs to the home otherwise it might be condemned as unlivable.

The only thing is this...I have no proof or evidence this actually occurred. My dad can't produce this blue card and claims he remember giving it to me (ie of course I don't know what he is talking about). The city is having a construction taking place in the neighbourhood for realignment of sewers, and updating the old infrastructure. However, this is happening on the city part of the property, not within the owner limits.

Therefore, it has me asking these questions:
1) Is it possible to measure Urea Formeldahyde of a home from the outside of the house. From the street level. I've heard of indoor test kits, but nothing about outdoor. Nobody ever came inside of the home to measure indoor formeldahyde levels.
2) Why would this home be singled out..if this were true, they would have to be doing this with all of the homes on the block.
3) Dad has changed his story in one account saying a water intake valve has to be replaced (which would cost $ 600), now today he is saying the floor, walls, everything would have to be replaced (costing $ 200K / we would have to panic sell the home).

When I called the city, nobody could verify that such a conversation or encounter ever occurred but gave me another number to call (ie I'm assuming is the project manager).

I'm expecting from that call tomorrow that nobody is going to have a clue of what I'm talking about as it's an ouside project covering various blocks and it's unlikely that any single home is singled out or that testing for formeladyde is even relevant for updating water main or sewer issue on the street. This would confirm the hypothesis that there was a temporary slip into another dimension and such an encounter never occurred in this reality, but what dad experienced was real.

Just going to leave this here

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

Hi Corrector,
I have encountered this pumped in Formadehyde insulation....It was used during the Eighties and gave off unhealthy gases, after 15 years or so this settles down but leaves the problem of external walls becoming damp inside...the Inspector was probably checking out the plumbing, for which it seems you have to pay for improved access...In passing he probably saw the insulation and gave a somewhat imaginative description of the horror it is to remove, just in conversation...Be advised,if it hasn't worried you up till now, forget it...The only reason to remove it is dampness.

I did get to the bottom of this. It turns out it was a scam call and they were trying to extort $ 1800 from my father in order to do an inspections report and threatened legal action if we did not comply. The city confirmed that this company is not affiliated with them, and no record exists for this home and that it is a scam that needs to be reported to the police. The police were contacted, however, as no money was exchanged, they referred this to the anti-fraud hotline for Canada. I just reported this online as a fraud. Case closed.

Therefore, no paranormal incident occurred, just a criminal fraud offense.

Maybe the scammers came from another dimension and then slipped back before they could get caught?
