Detoxing from cigarettes

This is horrible. Advise please!! I want to do this naturally, no patches, gum, or anything. I am fvcking miserable right now. Two days in. Lots of exercise and water consumption is on tap, that's for sure. Not a real heavy smoker, maybe two packs/week (mostly smoke when I go out). Even simple words of encouragement would be fantastic. Thanks men!

buy some bengay / A535 and rub it on your neck, it will relax you. get hte strong minty one also, the smell will overpower your olfactory senses and for some reason i found it made me forget about smoking.

other than that you have to do the one thing thats hardest to do - try to stop thinking about the withdrawal. try to ignore it.

or look at the withdrawal symptoms as a good thing - it means you getting closer to being free of the smokes. the more pain, the closer you are to freedom.

Dude, I'm in the same boat as you... but think of it this way, if we keep smoking we are probably going to die as a result of it. I don't wanna' die of lung cancer... I'd rather die for something rather than from something, especially from something like a ****ing worthless cigarette!

I've even thought about trying out some of those 'kinko' detox foot pads... you know, just to help get the sh!t out of my system.

Hang in there man. I was just thinking about going for a smoke before I read this. **** that. I'm gonna' do some pushups instead!

Toothpicks with tea tree oil in them. They not only naturally disinfect your mouth, but they help you with the whole oral fixation.

Try to stay away from beverages you normally associate with cigs (coffee, alcohol, etc) Drink TONS of water and if you can, get a juicer (simple one for 40 bucks) and make yourself some carrot/apple/ginger or carrot/celery/spinach

Also to push the detox process along, sweating helps a lot. If you are too lazy or weak to exercise, saunas are the bomb for this. A hot steam followed by a dip in cold pool accelerates your circulation and helps push out all the crap.

Most importantly, remember the reasons you are doing this

• Healthier skin, hair and organs
• Better stamina/endurance
• Better body, clothes and mouth smell

and most importantly...

• 9 out of 10 girls agree..your spooj tastes better without nicotine :cheer:

Did I just get negged? Kidding. In all seriousness, thanks for the tips. So I'm off to the store tonight to get BenGay and a juicer.

I had to leave work an hour sooner than I normally would because I felt like absolute shyte. Felt dizzy and nauseous. Horrible. I can't imagine what it would be like if I smoked a pack a day. Jesus...

Ive been a smoker for 3 years now and i can tell its slowly ruining me:( . In fact, Im a heavy smoker(1 pack for every day and a half). I think in the 3 years that Ive started smoking, ive only gone as far as 6 days without a cig. I got smokers cough, lower stamina, worse skin(facial), my hairline is receeding FAST, my teeth are getting yellow, my gums are getting darker and yes, it really does turn the ladies off...I noticed that smoking has affected my heart more than my lungs...But yes, Im gonna have to borrow some of these tips...thanks.

side question: what brand do you guys smoke?

It's a fvcking sick habit. Let's kick it to the curb. You can do it! If we need to, we can post our progress/failures here so that we can encourage one another. I plan on a LOT of exercise and water, in addition to what everyone has mentioned. Right now I am Jonesing so bad. I am going to go run. Good luck Rebound!

Dr. Oz, that guy on Oprah suggests not to say that you are quitting smoking but breathing free. Because of the connection your brain has to the word smoking. It makes sense but I think breathing free sounds kind of gay, but you get the idea.

So I go to the gym and do a bunch on cardio. Run about a mile, then do those sprints across the basketball court like your old coach used to make you do, run some stairs, and then go take a sauna. I'm not focusing on lifting weights right now, just cardio. I want to sweat that nicotine out of my system.

So I'm in the sauna, chatting with some young college kid about tattoos because he commented on my art. I am not paying attention as I go to dump some water out of the bowl onto the rocks. The steam burns the FVCK out of my left ring finger, leaving grotesque amounts of skin literally falling off my finger. I run out and begin to run it under really cold water, but the damage was done. 3rd degree burn covering my ring finger and secondary burns on my pinky and middle finger. I was in a lot of goddamn pain and go to the kid at the desk for some first aid gauze and other shyte before I go to the hospital.

So I come up and I'm holding my hand up and tell him I just burned the fvck out of my hand and need some gauze. He just sits there and looks at me. So I say, "Look azzhole! Open your first aid kit and get me some gauze!" He FINALLY understands what is going on and he's like, "Oh sorry man. Don't have anything in here. How about a paper towel and some SCOTCH TAPE?" What kind of fitness center doesn't have a stocked first aid kit handy? Apparantly this one. I guess it IS the university, but come on...

Fvck, fine, whatever. So I wrap a piece of industrial brown "paper towel" around my seared finger and head off to the hospital to get some silver sulferdiazine or whatever it's called. Man, I am in so much pain right now. Nothing hurts like a hardcore burn. So now my hand is all bandaged up and I can't lift weights. Plus, it's my left hand and I am left handed! Fvcking cigarettes...

Ouch! That fukking sucks man.

Just so you know cold water is the WORST thing you can do to a burn

Do yourself a favor and get fresh aloe leaf. Cut it open and place it, pulp-side down on the wound, heck strap it around your whole finger with some sterile tape. Nothing eliminates the pain and prevents scarring better (they don't call it the "burn plant" for nothing)

Also, get some Vitamin E capsules (the ones with gel in them). Pop em open and drizzle the oil on your skin for extra fast healing.

Get well bro, and don't let this keep you from fighting the good fight! :box:
