First week back at university, im 2nd year now. Seeing everyone again. ALL of my friends have theyre heart set on being drunk almost every minute of this week...I just did not see any way around it this week...i mean this is the best times of my life, when i look back i wont remember how defined i looked that week...but the memories of getting drunk with the boys. Im willing to take that sacrifice...Im still trying to get at least 3 or 4 meals a day , my vitamins, and water.. Im guessing my weights will go down after this week..Im wondering how bad this is going to be, and if its easily recoverable, from 5 or 6 days of drinking

I've been drinking like every weekend for the whole time I've been weight training. I don't think it's effecting me that bad.. I mean, I'm sure it can't be healthy.. but yeah. Idk, I'm not a nutrition or physician. You'll recover eventually. I think I am going to quit drinking though. Atleast for the time being.

i just take the carbs out of a meal from earlier in the day and make up for them with beer

'destroying' your body is right.. copious amounts of alcohol will mess with your bodyfat, strength and insulin sensitivity like crazy. the longer you drink, the longer it will take you to get back to your previous peak.. and at 5-6 days a week, I hope you're not bothering to work out as it will be a waste of time and money.

Warboss is dead right... he only forgot to mention that it will kill your testosterone level as well.

but then again, this is the only time in your life where your body will go along with heavy drinking without giving you serious trouble, and you professionally won´t get into problems. And the only time you will be together with your mates without much of a worry and heaps of responsibilities..Early to mid 20´s you still can booze like a fish and function normally, from 25 on it´s all downhill.

We´ve all done our fair share of drinking in late school and uni, but for me for instance after 25 it just started to become a very bad deal... comparing the fun by alcohol to the suffering later on (hell - 2 days being 100% f*d up for one night of boozing?? Thanks, but no thanks. But that´s what you´re facing when growing older).
So I completely stopped drinking. And I`m fine :)

It really doesnt feel good though , literally seeing the gains come off my body..
I just have to enjoy this time, i guess ill just try to keep it at a minimum i guess, but it takes me soo long to get drunk or even a buzz :(

WBA - what do u mean dont bother working out? i was planning on resuming working out, without the drinking after this week, and have back my normal life.... Im aware some weights will go down, im hoping after 1-2 weeks ill be back

what, you think you can drink heavily 5-6 nights a week and still work out optimally? you cannot and will be wasting your time, and will overtrain even more easily. i honestly wouldn't bother.

edit: oh, I saw you were going to stop drinking after this week.. yeah, give yourself a month or so and you will be performing well again.

yah sorry about the misinterpretation. I am not even going to attempt working out at all with this binge drinking. Than next week i will resume my normal schedule of 3-4 workouts a week, and drinking once per week.

P.S Any tips to limit the damage done by all this drinking, other than consume lots of water before bed and in the morning.

not really.. just drink a lot, and eat plenty so you have less room for alcohol. of course nothing you do will significant limit the damage.. the water will just make you feel less yucky

Drink gatorade when you drink alcohol. It'll kill hangovers before they start.

This is why I don't drink. It's just not worth it.
