Despising celebrities

I always feel like an alien because i am one of the few people i know that actually hates celebrities; everyone else seems to worship these people and they look at me like i'm crazy b/c i don't watch sitcoms or go to the movies. I guess i'm a little envious and perhaps jealous of their privilaged lifestyles, but i just can't see the appeal others see in them.

Most celebrities are immoral, liars, self-righteous, etc. yet they make more money in one movie then half the US put together does in a lifetime. They dictate what others wear, say, vote for, and believe in. It's almost like they are gods and society are their worshippers.

Why do people spend their hard earned money making these people richer? Are people's lives so dull that they have to live vicariously through these wacko's?

Why do people spend their time criticizing these so called celebrities? Who cares?! And what you said about them being morally dissolute, that's not a characteristic exclusive to the realm of celebrities. Sorry, but that's also the general state of many "normal" people.

Exactly. Plus, what a waste of time it is caring about what other people's lives are like. People who you will probably never meet. So what if they're an *******? They (in most cases) worked hard to get where they are, I will respect them for that.

I hear what Tristan is saying. The one thing I can't stand is that chicks tend to run after those celebraties and then brag about how close they got to them like some sort of cult following. Every year there is a film festival in town and many women flock down to see and possibly meet celebraties. Then they discuss meeting those celebraties like they just met god. The following are actual conversations I heard women talking:

"I went to this after hour club where the celebraties were and I saw Jerry Bruckheimer, and oh my gawed I was very intimated by him cause you know he is big and famous so after I met him I introduced myself and we hit it off and he asked for my number I wonder if he will call?"

"We like went to this club and while me and my girlfriends were partying we met Van diesel and he invited me and my friends to a private party where we hung around him and his friends and it was just awesome!!"

Can someone tell those knuckleheads that those celebraties are in town to have fun and they will probably fvck them and forget about them the following day. The sad part about it is that those chicks are so affected by the celebrity statues that being a Ho for the night is something they actually would love to do. After the deed is done they will go back to their normal life and routine and continue to act like the good girls they were and talk down to other women who they think are sluts! talk about being a hypocrite.

Despising celebrities is almost as bad as worshipping them. In fact, part of what keeps some celebrities famous is the fact that they are despised by a lot of people; such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

I don't even watch MTV or listen to music. The only time I ever hear about Britney Spears is when someone is going on about how much they hate her.

If you really don't like these celebrities, you need to ignore them completely, not despise them.

I agree. The problem I have with celebrities is when they have their viewpoint broadcast as if they are more intelligent that other people.

Especially with politics. Yeah I'll listen to a bunch of uneducated actors and actresses so they can tell me how the country should be run.

Funny as hell. Could Cameron Diaz or Barbara Streisand even balance their checkbook, let alone think rationally on the problems that face our country. I think not.

However they will have a bigger voice then us because they are celebrities.

Then again I don't waste my time watching movies or TV (probably waste a bit too much time on here though).

People think that celebrities are somehow smarter than us, after all, they make millions of dollars.

Actress and tone-deaf singer Rosie O'Donnell is the worst because of her gun control stance (gun control is doublespeak for illegalization of guns), and promotes this on her show.

Celebrities make random comments about the President all the time and everyone thinks that just because "HEY! It's George Clooney" that he is absolutely correct.

I looooooove Paris Hilton (more specifically, I like her porn) hahahahha

It is a proven fact that we consider people who are good looking to be "better" than us.

I, for one, dont hate celeberities becuase i know some of them are very cool people. Ryan Reynolds from Van Wilder actually posts in a message forum online, and he is a great ****ing guy!

I do want to pimp slap Paris Hilton, but i dont hate her, she is simply stupid and spoiled,.that's not my problem

Envy is natural, perhaps even inevitable, and it's not reserved for celebrities alone.

Whenever someone encounters a person who can has something they do not, who can do something they cannot, who is something they are not, the lesser person will feel envy.

I feel envy all the time, and I'm sure that most of you guys do to.
However, I think that what makes a difference is what your envy makes you do.

Do you wallow in it, depressing yourself by dwelling on the superiority of another man, feeling less and less worthy of living every moment ...

... or do you recognize the challenge, that Nature has thrown down the gauntlet, using envy to demand that you improve yourself.
