Ok we're on the same line then.
About steroids.
I was smart enough to never take steroids during the last 10 years. However I have many friends who did, still do or stopped (due to health implications).
Their gains were quick. Muscle size & strength added up quickly. I had one friend who could eat junk food all day while being close to 200 pounds ripped. He benched 300 pounds for reps easily.
That's the good side of the story.
The bad side.
-Hearth problems
-Motivation problems (when their cycle is over & it's back to no steroids)
-Mental addiction to steriods, not being able to train without it
-Strength & muscle gains were lost as quickly as gained for the above reasons
Steroids (or any supplement, legal or illegal), don't learn you:
-To train hard
-To check your diet
-To persist
-To believe
To many, steriods are like a get quick rich sheme "I want muscles & strength, and I want it know".
Back to Derek.
Does he take steroids? I don't know.
What I know is what a 280 pounds logs press means. I can't rep that for a single. So when I see that Derek reps it 13 times??
I could start taking steroids tomorrow, but it won't get me to the same weight. There's only one thing that will:
HARD WORK
And that's what the video is about. Recheck the intro & his attitude when he reps the log press. He wanted the prize, he got it.
For your info, Derek injured his back one year before this comp. Doctors said he would never lift again.
