In yourself I think the key is to be working on something most days. Agree totally with ztime that one day a week off is essential. E.g. work is crazy for me right now. But losing weight is a long-term goal. So this morning went for 20 minute walk while listening to my language CD. G/f wanted me to come over. Nope I have to get in early and will do my shadow boxing tonight in front of TV. So it was a typical day of keeping frame and pushing ahead where I could. And that's what it's like small steps on the busy days big steps when you have time. Don't set big unrealistic goals. And don't beat yourself up when you can't make the big steps just take another small step. Anyway got to go just finished my shadow boxing and now it's phone sex with the girlfriend, hey a girl has needs too.
