Help me figure this out. Dude is tall and has a hulking massive body that some short guys (like me, I'm 5'5) would like to have went on a date and walk outed on her friends and, well, I won't give away the ending. I don't understand the lesson of it. If I was like him I would be in competitions or run a business or something instead of staying at home frustrated with debt fantasizing what I want to have. I am doing something about my issues but this movie kinda reminded of me in some ways. Oh and I would have personally beaten the crap outta of those guys in the hallway that talked to me funny if that was me. :trouble:

i don't understand this. i can relate to him but i'm not jacked like him. so even if you are jacked, you can be like this? my main reason to work out is to be more confident and more outgoing. does that mean i'm wasting my time working out?

No. You need to workout because it builds confidence and prepares you for the crap that you gonna confront in life (like girls). Maybe it's more to it than that. I think it deals with insecurity issues. I can relate to him in that aspect.

What do you think?

You know its a movie and the character doesn't reallty exist right?!

Although there are some guys out there like this guy and they are essentially called "paper alphas". I have seen on the tv show Blind Date a couple of episodes of AFC bodybuilders and MMA fighters that are really good at their professions but failed miserably on the show when they went out with women.

Hey I liked that film. I thought it was rather deep and well done.

It's a story about an extremely introverted bodybuilder named Dennis, who has some sort of weird co-dependent relationship with his mother, whom he lives with. Dennis calls up this girl from his gym for a date, and she agrees. What you missed however is that those girls set him up to be their male "entertainment" for the night. He got tooled, thinking he was just taking this girl out for dinner, but she had told her friends about it and they used him as a boy toy. Being as shy as he was, he didn't really like this and left her house. The ending was a little bizarre, but also sad. It makes you wonder what happened to him, and the acting is quite genuine which I think makes it a great short film.

I can really relateto him. Being good at what you do, being invited to a party, only to get used for entertainment purposes and having some lowlife douchebags comment on you negatively. I just left as well, rather minding my own business and living the life I want till someone worthy of my attention comes around. I wouldn't drink the alcohol though and I'm not living with my parents XD.

He is training for a competition.

Great movie, shows that no matter how developed your outside is your inside will always need some work.

He was able to stand up to his mother and do what he wanted. For once apparently. But it wasn't what he expected apparently and was made a fool of by those women and their boyfriends (?). Unfortunately he seems sheltered and feels like at home with his mother must be the place to be.

So many people are like this. In different ways but still the same.

When you grow up and live a little, you'll see that muscle heads are generally NOT the ones pulling women, but I don't expect a 21 y/o kid to understand this.

Says the smaller man....

The problem with your friend is that he built his physique FOR women, and his personal insecurities remained. Guys who train for vanity are just putting a big beefy band-aid over their fundamental deficiencies in game and self-esteem.

Muscularity has incredible appeal and the only guys who dispute this are the ones who have none!! I have been on BOTH ends of the spectrum, and I will tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that the difference is like night and day. Now it's not like I can just go to a bar in a tight t-shirt and do nothing whist the women flock to me like sheep, but what I have that the naysayers like you don't is straight masculine SEX APPEAL. Without game, however, it doesn't matter.

The other caveat I will add is that there is a limit. Bodybuilders are intriguing to a lot of people, but they are also on the extreme end of a human physique. Women generally avoid extremes, for obvious evolutionary reasons.

I agree with this. Maybe it's different in certain areas or certain circles. But when i go out the guys i see getting women or guys that have the attractive girlfriends are usually not the "muscle heads".

I have a feeling both Mystery and Style could out game a bodybuilder.
Arnold Schwazenegger was probably better at getting girls in his prime than those two. What is your point?

I used to be about 130 lbs, and am now close to 180 and fairly athletic - not jacked though. In the context of purely getting attention from women, the new look wins hands down in every way.

When you look good you feel good, and when you feel good you wheel good.

With regards to the two videos which he cherry picks to support his thesis, he picks one dude who has traveled the world and is fairly interesting, and another dude who has absolutely no intellectual merit what so ever. That is an invalid comparison when attempting to disparage working out or bodybuilding. I am sure I could find two more clips with a jacked guy who runs his own engineering firm, and another skinny guy who talks about World of Warcraft all day long. What would that prove?
