If there are bad behaved members of a forum, then you deal with those members instead of punishing EVERYONE for what a couple of people do. In the forum I ran and moderated by myself I had a special way of dealing with naughty people. I had a "Time Out" forum especially for that purpose. I gave three chances to modiify their behavior and if they didn't cool their jets they went in time out. Time out was having access to ONLY the "Time Out" forum, which was hidden from everyone else. They were free to rant as much as they felt like for 3 days without anyone else having to listen to it. After 3 days they were allowed to post again. If more than one person had to be put in time out, I would make a second Time Out forum so they couldn't keep each other company.

It worked like a charm.

There are better ways to deal with the naughty kids then punish EVERYONE.
That's great and all, but that was then and this is now. No one else complained about having to PM someone with their comments on a picture. No one else complained about a thread being closed when they were directed to a thread like theirs.

Why create a new forum? The people that started the mess have already been talked to and dealt with. It's easier and keeps the thread cleaner so people who want to see pics don't have to go through 4 pages of replies to find 1 picture.

Why create a new forum? Because the one you want me to post on does NOT meet the needs and requirements of the thread that Wyldfire wishes to take part in. Just because Eternal doesn't like to converse on a thread with photos doesn't mean that everyone else shares his view. He also should not use moderator status to try to force others to think like him.

Sorry that it doesn't bode to your standards. I guess this site should be more "Wyldfire friendly."

Look, I keep telling you this: I'M NOT THE ONLY MODERATOR THAT THOUGHT THAT. So back off.

You are so worked up over 1 thread that it makes me wonder...What type of life do you have?

Eternal, I am NOT the only one who thinks there is a censorship problem. I'm not saying it's "only" you...you're just the one who chooses to be the loudest in defending deletions and lockings that people don't agree with.

And honestly...spare me the "you have no life" garbage. I don't care whether anyone thinks I have one or not. Besides, the argument could be easily made that anyone who spends as much time deleting and locking posts as you do can't have much of a life either.

With that being said, I can see that I've worn you down and if I continue you're likely to blow a gasket. Despite the fact that I'm mad at you, it's not my intention to cause you to embarass yourself...so I'm done discussing this for the night.

Granted, you aren't the only one who has a problem with my modding. However, you seem to make it out like I'm after you, which I am not.

I'm in college. I check this site while typing papers, because I'm not gonna type a 5 page paper without breaks.

If you are done for the night, I'll go continue modding.

I wanted to validate this claim, so I performed a search - anyone here is welcome to follow in my footsteps to verify that what I say is correct.

First, I hit "search". Then going to 'Search By Keyword', I input "picture". After this, I used the drop-down dialogue in Search Options > Search Forum... to select "Anything Else". Then, I toggled "Search titles only". After doing these things, I performed the search. There were 11 results, the "POST YOUR PICTURE ONLY" thread being the first.

Please see my post located here for my response to what's being discussed in this thread (which is being discussed in the other, as well... I do hate it when the same issue rages over multiple threads. It makes my fingers hurt.)

Wyldfire, thanks for cheapening the murder of millions of Jews by comparing this DISCUSSION FORUM to a death camp.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Was that a political statement?

Seeing as politics is defined as: 1 a : the art or science of government b : the art or science concerned with guiding or influencing governmental policy c : the art or science concerned with winning and holding control over a government
2 : political actions, practices, or policies
3 a : political affairs or business; especially : competition between competing interest groups or individuals for power and leadership (as in a government) b : political life especially as a principal activity or profession c : political activities characterized by artful and often dishonest practices
4 : the political opinions or sympathies of a person
5 a : the total complex of relations between people living in society b : relations or conduct in a particular area of experience especially as seen or dealt with from a political point of view <office politics>

I'm going to have to go with that statement not fitting into any of those categories.

Also, back to something that actually has to do with the topic of this discussion, I can remember when forum members complained about redundant posts, and the need to get rid of them. Two posts are not needed when one will do.

May I have some Cheese and Crackers with that whine, please?

1) Jews weren't the only victims of Hitler. So were Catholic Priests, Gypsies and the physically and mentally handicapped. Please get your facts straight prior to chastising others, thank you.

2) Change your preferences so you don't see signatures and you won't have to look at it.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

1) Did I ever say Jews were the only ones killed? No. The fact that even more were murdered only solidifies my point.

2) Change my preferences? They're the default settings.

I'm making a statement about my displeasure with what I feel to be ridiculous and outrageous policies. Apparently you don't understand sarcastic protest. And I only use the signature once in awhile. In fact, I had stopped using it until someone pitched a fit over it.

So are mine, which doesn't matter when it comes to posting topics similar to ones you can only see by adjusting your preferences. At least that's what a moderator told me. I'm guessing it doesn't matter with signatures, either. I'm just giving you the same story that was given to me when I complained about something. You're going to have to adjust your preferences if you want to control what you can and cannot see. Sorry...

That is different Ms. Wyld. You can use the "search" button to find the post, which you apparently didn't. You also complained how there would be "tons of threads just like it" if you searched when diablo showed you how to make it cut down to 11. That does NOT hold the same candle as seeing someones signature, especially one like that.

Wyldfire,

Hi, I'm new to the site. You seem like a very intelligent person, and thus, an asset to the site. I think in light of a lot of the teenagers here that have absolutlely no respect for the type of community that can be built here, we need your type of input. However, I think that you are indeed flogging a dead horse. One locked thread does not close the show. Since you've been here for so long, I think that you should know by now that you are respected and that the mods are trying to be as diplomatic with you as they can be.

By the way, I saw you're pictures and you are quite lovely.
SB;)

The key to being an effective forum moderator is to set your emotions and ego aside and be fair, impartial and strong. You don't do that by being trigger happy with the damn delete and lock buttons. Christ, I command more respect and act more like the "alpha male" than some of these moderators do. That's pretty sad seeing as I have tits!

Hmmm...if all the gentlemen will look this way and read this paragraph I've copied and pasted from an MSN article on "5 Ways Women Make Better Leaders"

"As a young recruiting consultant in Australia, my first job was working for a female boss. She took any criticism, even constructive criticism, as a personal attack on her position of power, and would wait weeks before launching a counter-attack on an unsuspecting subordinate."

http://msn.careerbuilder.com/Custom...9488d359ee4b3796644aecbc6490fd-155260452-wn-2

It draws a parallel to me and that is Wyldfire (she holds true to her name) is making a mountain out of a mole hill and needs to let it go...it's over....

For the record, I have better leadership/organizational skills then these women do and it surprises me to no end that articles like these are written by a woman (check the author).

More information and experience makes for a better leader/manager.

P.S. Women who have a position of power are so petty it isn't funny and most have delusions of grandeur, I worked for one several years ago and it was hell.

Wyld, I will no longer argue on these threads because it is pointless. You are gonna make this into Mt. Everest.

Though feel free to PM me with any future complaints. ;)

No, I didn't say there would be "tons" of picture threads. That's why I don't usually answer diablo...he always misreads my posts and thinks I wrote something I didn't and I don't feel like correcting him.

I said that if you weren't allowing any new threads that you could use search to find a similar topic about there would be NO NEW POSTS about anything allowed because EVERY subject has been covered tons of times.

The signature represents how I feel about the policies I'm complaining about. The locking of the thread and the extermination/deletion of posts.

I hate to break it to you Mr. Smoothie, but this isn't about me being criticized, it's about censorship, which I hate with a passion. I'm making a big deal out of it because if Eternal gets his way and pushes all non-"DJ" conversation into PM and discourages people from feeling like they are part of a community, this place will die. I don't want to see that happen. I'm really ticked off at the censorship thing too...it's not personal at all...it's a matter of principle.
