This girl I hung out with a few years ago messaged me on Facebook:

Her: Hey! I just saw your recent post and it reminded me how cute you are. How are you?

For some reason that made me realize that now a days people get so lost with who's posting what, that its the only way anyone ever remembers you.

I decided I'd rather be remembered without partaking in any of that social media fictitious celebrity lifestyle.

So, deleted my Facebook and honestly it feels great. In a way I feel liberated. Didn't notice how much you get sucked into an online society. It's as if I've been freed from a cult or tribe I was forced into.

I deleted my account after recieving my 2nd message from a wife informing me that my wife was fu#king her husband. I had already moved out and knew the marriage was dead. I just decided I wanted out of that nightmare of BS self aggrandizing. FB is like a narcissists open mic night. My STBX lives on that digital trainwreck. No thanks. I'm out and my life goes on.

I've been debating on whether or not to delete my Facebook. I hardly ever log in these days, let alone post or read statuses. In fact, most of what's posted on Facebook is absolute BS.

What's this community's view on it?

I honestly feel 100% better just knowing I'm not part of the easily accessible herd of Facebook.

Since then I've had two people contact me by phone asking how I've been after noticing I wasn't on FB. And the funny thing is I never heard from them before while I was just a click away.

I've had a new girl call me a rebel for not having a FB and one who thought I was weird and didn't want to talk to me because of it. Funny how people view others depending on their social cyber involvement.

I'm still sporadically using Instagram but slowly finding that its just another median for people to show off their lives and get "cool" points. It's all a subtle competition of who has a better life and battle of wits.

I know people who appear like gods in their social media but in real life are as boring as a stick.

Cut it off. The more I'm learning, the more FB seems like a big, digital manifestation of female communication. Just facade, and shallow, social maneuvering. It's like a graphic representation of a Cluster B personality disorder. Watch the women who spend the most time and energy on FB and then compare their actual lives. Narcissism, Histrionics, Borderlines. They all have a socially acceptible forum to spread their disease.

 Stick around.

I never had chickbook but if I did it would have been the first thing to go once I found the red pill.

What I don't get is how can she be glued to her facebook and that virtual farm game they play inbetween updates, then head off to her non-productive, make work cubicle job to shuffle papers from 9 till 5 and men's suicide rates are still higher?

Consensus around here seems to be to cut off Facebook. I have a few good friends I'd like to stay in touch with after I cut it off. Maybe I'll keep it and just never ever log in.

My experience? I got ****blocked when I started gaming a girl I had a crush on. Jealous guys came out of the wood work and put a stop to it.

Use the number of self-shots any female has on her FB as a barometer of her level of NPD/BPD. My STBX has galleries dedicated to HER. One of MANY red flags I just completely dismissed. F*ck me!

I'm so glad I never joined the cult.

I've actually had people ask me how I can live without it!

Pretty sad

I'm on the complete opposite end of the scale. I have mine and it's been a useful tool to raise IL. It's a place where I can display social proof and my sense of humor. When a woman spends an hour looking at all my interesting status updates and pictures, I get stuck in her brain which is EXACTLY where I want to be - and I didn't even have to put any effort into it.

Y'all are taking facebook waay too seriously. Who gives a flying fuuck if you have one or not. Use it as a tool, use it as an opiate or just stay off of it, don't make no difference. Just treat it like it isn't something important. Because its not.

The best way to screen for chicks that are serious about facebook is to just look at her shiit on there. If she takes it seriously, add that to the red flag count.

I use facebook to read / see funny ****, occasionally see important updates about friends, local and distant, and a couple people use the messenger that I have routed through my IM client. In turn I rant about politics and post funny pics. Excluding chats, I spend about 5-20 minutes a week, less then I spend here.

Nothing gets pushed to my phone, and what gets emailed gets sent to my spam email account and gets read a few times a week.

And it's turning some guys into females as well in the sense that they're always trying to one up the next person with a post, trying to display how cool and original they are or think they are. What's funny is people eat it up

This, don't miss it in the slightest.

It just seems to be a way for people with absolutely no class to wind eachother up, "hey look what I have!, "hey look how well I'm doing in life!" or the pathetically indirect "ggrr I have to travel to *nice location* with work for a week".

I had plenty of unadvertised life achievements over my time on Facebook, but I didn't actively rub them in everyone's face like "look at meeeeee!", leave that for children and women.

Do you know how much I hate Facebook? It's the ultimate killer when it comes to dating

It's as if people not only ask for you number, but you can bet they will ask for your Facebook!

I keep this private. I don't give 2c's about who the hell you are - if I don't include you in my life or you're not a family member, you don't belong on my Facebook.

It even attracts butthurt people. I remember this one guy who literally begged for my Facebook. I said "OK" only to plan on deleting him very soon as he looked NOTHING like his pictures - turn off! (Met him off a dating site). One day he texted me and asked: "Why don't you ever talk to me on Facebook? "

My response?

"Block me".

He ran straight to it, so upset!

Since then, this has ALWAYS been my response.

instantnoodles, you baffle me.

I met a girl at a bar, and spent half the night with her,.....was drinking, so at the time I thought she was a HB9, probably an 8 though. Anyway, she wouldn't give me her number but gave me her name and told me to message her on FB. At the time I was somewhat blue pill but I still told her how stupid that was and that, either way, I wasn't going to be friends with her on it. She told me that's fine but she'd give me her number once I messaged her, and...that's the way it has to be. I didn't write her name down and ended up forgetting it. :)
Maybe it was for the best.

Good thing or bad thing?

It's good you keep your life private. She manipulated you because she's a Facebook-addict herself. Probably wasn't meant for you. You're right, for the best !
