I know this has been discussed before but i just cant find it in the archives. I just wanted to know if this was a good idea. I am conflicted. On one hand most people find their husbands and wife at work. On the other hand you have people saying its a bad idea. There is a cute girl at work that i click with. It has the potential to go somewhere but i am hesitant becuz i am in a very professional environment and we work directly with the boss. It would be devastating to mess this up becuz i could not control myself. What if it goes wrong and the boss notices that there is something different? What do you guys think.

I'm in the Reserves and I'm dating another officer on the same base. That's as close as I'll go. (I mentioned this before, but being a military officer surrounds you with educated young women with hard little bodies and daddy issues. It's like discovering the great buffalo herds.)

I would never date someone in my unit, or even in my building. I wouldn't even date someone who works at a client site for my civilian job.

Also, check your employee handbook on fraternization. Some companies have rules about it.

IMO, bad idea.

Never, ever, ever sh*t where you eat. Not worth the sexual harassment suit.

My policy is that you shouldn't date anyone who could potentially jeopardize your job.

People you work with directly---OFF LIMITS. People you work with peripherally, as in different departments or locations---case by case basis.

It's generally a bad idea. However, I have trouble with this being a hard and fast rule because an awful lot of people end up in successful marriages with people they work with. So obviously it can work out. I work with some couples at work who don't seem to have any trouble with it. However, if you feel if this situation would put you at risk, you're probably right.

Now if you're trying to be some sort of PUA player bad boy type, and screwing all sorts of girls at the office, yeah I've seen that come to a very bad end many times.

Bad idea from Go. HR in most companies is run by women. You make 1 wrong move and you are out. In todays economy/job environment is it worth that? Go hunt elsewhere. Not where you work. I hate to say this but if you are even thinking about it, it says that you are not building up enough prospects outside the boardroom. That should tell you something. So go find new places to meet women.

Really depends on the job, if you are flipping burgers at Mcdonalds and will be moving on at some point, why not? however as the stakes increase, you are trying to carve out a career, a niche and reputation, the work is good, with propspects....no way, in the end what do you have to lose? if its $10 an hour and beer money, no worries, if its long term and you have invested in it, no chance, she is never worth it

Here is the part that every idiot misses. Yes there are people in your workplace who are MARRIED. But where is the guy who was a player and banged 10 girls in the same office? Fired that's where.

Unless you are the owners son, or looking to settle down, don't play around where you have to work. You guys always quote the wins, not the losses. You can not pump and dump girls in the office so you better be ready to commit unless you work in a full male dominated office. Which considering the state of most HR departments, that's not the case. So the best bet is to leave women at work alone.

I started at a new job and there are some damn attractive women here. A few that are known for getting around. I don't need that attached to my name in the workplace. I need excellence only attached to my name.

No doubt that plenty of people date, hook up, and even meet their spouses at work. But it's a risky practice. It tends to always work well for the OTHER guy, not you lol. It's one of those, "Don't try this at home" sort of things lol.

Dating women you work with is a bad idea unless you are working at a job you don't plan on being at for a long period. I hooked up with a chick from my work before and nothing really bad ended up happening, but people talked and of course everyone in the office found out about it. That was enough for me to not do it again.

If you're the "right guy" in that place, you can pull this off. Otherwise, steer clear.

That is exactly right, and just what I said back in post #7. I know SO many player types who have banged multiple women at work and ended up fired, because they ended up p!ssing someone off, usually multiple people. Of course guys who go to work and bang 10 women aren't usually the most stable types to begin with.

Most "players" I've known, far from being DJ renaiisance men, have been pretty immature. And that immaturity often gets them into trouble.

^This. There are some good looking, smooth guys that can pull it off, but most guys can't and should stay away.

When I say "pull it off," I do not mean pump and dump. I mean "date" for a bit and remain friends afterwards.

Out of my work building of 100, I only know of one such guy who has hooked up with five broads. But he's VERY good looking*, suave, and he has done it SLOWLY via "dating" over a period of years. Not five pump and dumps in three months lol.

*The ladies nicknamed him Mr. Eye Candy.

So generally, if you have to ask whether you should or can date at work, the answer is no lol.

It's definitely not something I could pull off.

Just try avoid her then? idk..I don't think flirting is very professional. I guess it just depends on the working environment though. I've been told off for giggling like a school girl cos it wasn't professional...!
