I've had dark circles under my eyes for a long time now, and I'd like to know if anyone has any idea's why they're there/how to get rid of them.

I'm pretty sure it aint because of sleep, as I get a solid 8 hours a day. Also my diet isn't filled with junk food and ****, but it's not the healthiest either (I'm going to start eating healthy btw), could it be because of this?

Sometimes it is just genetic. That is the case with me, and I have not found much that helps it. However, I do notice that after I workout and get my blood pumping, I have a lot more color in my face and they are less visible. Now, obviously you can't do this all the time to fix them, but you can try to be more active, which may help.

Yup that's me. I stopped worrying about it. I was so self concious to the point I noticed it on everyone else. That kinda helped me stop worrying about it. I still think about it, but I don't really care anymore.

I've noticed inconsistent sleep doesn't help. Like you, everything else seems to be fine. I'm healthy, I sleep 8 hours (it was even worse when I slept more than 8). Basically don't really worry about it.

Are you a smoker? Dark circles under the eyes are very often allergies to something. Even many smokers are somewhat allergic to cigarette smoke, especially second hand smoke as it burns at a higher temperature. Even if your not a smoker there are many allergies that cause circles under the eyes. Get an allergy test see if anything comes up.

It's probably genetic, the skin under your eye is thinning and the blood is showing more. There's really nothing you can do about, at least with easy over-the-counter treatments. I've read about fat transplants, but that's kind of extreme. I've also read about how using a copper peptide topical for months can thicken up the skin there and reduce the discoloration, and I may look into that at some point.

I've had the same problem. I'm almost 26, and i've had them for around 3 and a half years. It was weird, because I don't think I had them at all, and then I spent a few days staying up extremely late studying for tests and my face looked really tired for a while. Since then, I don't think the dark circles have ever fully gone away. I don't know if that's just a coincidence or what.

not a smoker. not really around it anymore either.

it could be allergies. i will randomly get bad allergy symptoms at the end of a long day, no matter what season it is. UNLESS i eat my honey at the beginning of the day, which usually seems to work.

Well I'm not a smoker, and I'm not affected by 2nd hand smoke either.

Also, how could it be genetic as I haven't had them my whole life. I've noticed the circles a lot more in the past 2-3 years.

I've had bags under my eyes my whole life (definitely hereditary, my whole dads side of the family has it, being the Italians we are...)

My advice is to really just stop worrying about it. I use to stress about it, and stress is actually a factor in dark circles under the eyes...

But try the aloe treatment, it works somewhat for me. Go tanning (or, if that's a little too homosexual for you, get a pickup game of ultimate frisbee going) and soak up that cancer! A tan really does help blend the dark circles into your skin.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

Would aloe vera gel work on the eyes, rather than aloe cream?

Yup that's what I'm saying.

That tan doesn't really help I don't think.

Also I don't know if you know, but you can barely see bags if you're not at eye level with the person (usually happens when sitting down).

Ive heard about tinted moisturizer and preparation h could help. Im going to try them out and see.

Ive tried Vita-K cream as well as aloe vera gel and neither of those worked.

Of course, I would assume concealer is a guarantee, but its makeup, not a cure.

I've tried Neutragena eye cream and it didn't work. Yeah it made it feel tighter, but my problem isn't puffiness or anything, it's just the dark circles.

I once read somewhere it comes from the liver. One article by Poliquin.
Which means...? I stay hydrated (my piss is pretty clear).

Which means that the liver might not be working correctly or is overworking. Example:
-alcohol
-junk food

Layman terms: dark circles are signs of bad health.

Yeah I've heard that too. And I know for some people it's true. I rarely eat junk food now. If I do eat junk food, it's Mexican food, Chinese food, or maybe a veggie burger at a good local place.

I eat fruits and veggies now and stopped eating any food that's made in a lab. (including white sugar, white rice, white pasta). I might eat something with flour, but I'm always checking ingredients and it's at least unbleached organic flour.

Oh yeah and no alcohol. Last time was about 8 months ago maybe, and before that was a month, and before that was a month.

ok so i tivo'ed an ellen re run with some beauty tips.
the woman who was giving them calls it secrets of the stars.
she said that if you have puffy eyes, its from not getting enough rest and you can lay down and put a slice of cucumber on the eyes to make the swelling stop.

if you have dark circles under your eyes, she said it was from toxins in your body. you can make it go away by putting slices of potatoes on your eyes and laying down for a little while.

so potato slices for dark circles and cucumber slices for puffiness.
