I've been taking a dance class for about a month now. I felt like I made the best decision of my life. I mean seriously, I started out feeling cold and nervous about it. Now I look forward to it every night and hugging the girls and high fiving the guys. This is coming from a guy who can't talk to anyone even when he's drunk at the bar.

There's nothing more satisfying to hear from a female that you have good moves. If you get that constantly, it really boosts your confidence. I find myself joking with them and just having a good time since the night goes past me.

The only downside is that it might be a tad expensive, but I prefer to think of it as an investment for my social life. If you don't dance well, I would seriously try it, especially if they have a free dance lesson. Even if you don't plan on dancing, the mental boost is worth it.

San Jose, i'll assume the class teaches you how to dance, therefore making you better.

What type of dancing is this?

I tried salsa dancing a few times but just did not enjoy it to warrant committing to it.

I took a salsa class last semester and this semester I'm taking social dance (waltz, two-step, swing etc.) It's nice being able to dance with lots of girls. Heck it's the only time that I even get to touch girls.

One thing that's bad is that I'm a super slow learner when it comes to dancing. I also have a lot of trouble finding the rhythm. So instead of getting a confidence boost, I often end up frustrated because I can't properly do the moves.

But I'm going to keep trying. I'm going to take salsa again and strictly focus on it till I get decent.

Interesting observastion. I could see something like dance helping boost overall confidence outside of the class to, especially with females as the class gives you an excuse to step outside your comfort zone with kino, etc. I might try something like this one day.

As gay as it "seems"... I always wanted to try dancing classes. My dad did them with his ex-girlfriend and he's pretty good. He's really confident on the dance floor. That's one thing I wish I had the balls to do.

I'll secretly do dance classes once I have a steady amount of money coming in.

Well, I've been in a dance club for almost three years now and it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

Just remember to have fun and enjoy it.

P.S. It's been a while since I have back at this site.

taking dance classes is also an interesting conversation topic, cus most of the girls i meet when i am out love to dance, for whatever reason, so they get impressed.

I really should take dance classes. Like you said it's gotta be a good confidence boost, plus something nice to do to meet ladies. I've barely ever danced in my life but I have a feeling I'd be able to catch on fairly quickly since I have a really good sense of rhythm.

How much are you paying for your dance classes? I get really nervous and my body get stiff when i tried to dance with a girl. They can tell off the bat that I don't know how to dance. haha

Problem is, won't you only get a confidence boost if you end up being good at dancing in the class? If you end up being nervous with the dancing and suck in the class then it'll be the opposite of a confidence boost. How do you know which one you'll be?
Don't be so negative. Everyone screws up in the dance class, but they reassure you and practice with you.

It's kind of an upscale dance class, so what they're teaching me is quality. I learned the foxtrot, samba, salsa, merenge, tango, waltz, and ramba. Swing and tango are my favorite so far. There's still so much I have yet to learn. It's like ~$400 for 8 lessons but I can go to the group dances for free which are daily.

I can tell you right away that when I was at the bar tonight, there was a guy who seemed to have all the right moves dancing and girls just ate it up. They literally ran over to him after the song was over to talk to him. I felt much more comfortable knowing that I can dance, but not up to the level yet (especially his). Once I get through the course, I'll be able to tear up the dance floor.

It's taken me a while but I'm starting to get a feel for it. Like playing a guitar, you got to keep practicing. I've dance with people that have been taking lessons for YEARS and still mess up on even the basics.

Yeah I'm slowly getting it. The trick is practice, practice, practice.

I can't stand it though when I don't understand a move that's part of the pattern and the instructor still moves on. That happened Wednesday night. I ended up feeling like crap because I just couldn't finish the pattern and we kept switching partners.

One thing I really need is an actual dance partner. I need to practice a lot more and it's basically impossible to practice a couples dance, by yourself.

Tell the instructor to slow down, or change instructors. What's the point if you're not learning anything? I feel the same way, sometimes I just want to stay with one partner to practice.

Hang in there bro, it'll be worth it to stick it out.

Then you need to use kino more. You're scared to touch a girl? What a wuss!
Show masculinity and sexuality!

Stop worrying yourself dammit! Just go with the flow. Hakuna Matata. You'll learn in time.

My uncle is a amateur salsa dancer, he teaches, he competes, and he's also performed with world class salsa idols(back ups)

He won the Club Mayan World salsa competition, the amateur bracket, not the pro.

Thats him.

He told me that the guys pull hella girls in theres, not just with their partners, but in class, new girls that come, easy targets. When they go to the clubs to dance, they got hella social proof, and roll with hella girls.. He himself has slept with 100 plus women. He's been one of my biggest role models, the reason I joined the wrestling/football team, because he joined.

The reason I got into video games, and comics. Unfortunately he enlisted in the marines, but he's doing pretty good there.

What the medal means.

He's also the 2nd best shot west of the misssipi for regular dudes that aren't into rifles/sniping or whatever. It was a competiton.

I'm also planning to get into salsa. I've always been interested, but currently, my ACL is torn, surgery in late May/Early june, and I don't have a job to pay for the classes.

But salsa class is definitely a great place to meet women, its also cool if your just vibing a chick. You can take salsa lessons.
Your uncle rocks. I was impressed watching the vid. Has he slept with the students or just women he meets up when dancing? I think it would be awkward to be sleeping with a teacher.

I can't date the people in my class though, most are married couples or engaged practicing for their wedding. I don't mind though, I find myself touching a lot more and it feels much more natural.

There are a few very attractive teachers so getting used to being around them makes me more comfortable.

I've been taught to lead and have been told how sexy I am. Till then no one has called me sexy. I like it. I can actually see progress and I'm always so excited to go.

Now I just need to find places where I can actually dance.

lol Salsa club was crazy tonight.

For most of the night everything was going fine. Towards the end of the class I get paired with a really sex girl whom I actually danced with earlier in the night. She's a Persian type girl who's got great tits and her dress did a great job of exposing her cleavage.

So I'm doing some basic dance steps with her in closed position and little Maxtro starts to get excited. I try to focus on the steps and only look at her face but it just wasn't working. At about 50% I know that I'm in trouble and I tell her that I have to use the bathroom and I take off running.

I take a few minutes to breath, wash my face. Once I feel that I'm back in control I go back out to her. I do my best to not look at her boobs. About two minutes into it I know that it's hopeless. I apologize to her and we just start talking. She thinks the reasons I'm not dancing with her was because I didn't get the steps.

Heh I wonder what would have happened if I said, "Sorry babe, you're just too sexy. But boo you know I can't help it, you know what I wanna do, oh girl."

If she had actually noticed what was going on I don't know how I would have handled the situation.

Honestly most guys that start dancing Salsa suck at it. If you take a Salsa class at a school you will never need a partner because you always rotate. If you take lessons at a club you don't need a partner for the first hour or so. Once the lessons are over if you want to keep dancing and practice you need to find somebody to dance with. I usually just leave after the lessons.
