I don't think it's likely that anyone can set his sights too high, but for beginners to look completely over the basics and launch into something without considering the foundation of what they're doing is just asinine. All that failure sucks ass, too. I know a few guys who—after getting brutally shot down dozens of times in a row—were more than ready to
tie the knot when they finally found a girl who would return their phone calls.
Numbers can sometimes fall out of thin air, if you're an interesting/interested enough guy. I say work on that first, then try for numbers.
