Crunches

I don't know if what i'm doing now to work my ab's is the best way to go about it.

I'm doin' crunches, But i'm holding it for 6 seconds for each 1. I do 2 sets of 12 every other day.

Now, i'm starting to see some progress on my top ab's, & when i flex i can really feel them expand & harden, but everything below the top 2 doesn't really do anything.

Am i doing it right? or should i try a different approach?

Keep in mind that there is usually more fat covering the lower abs, so you won't see the definition show up in them right away. I remember having a 4 pack for the longest time. The two lowest abs are a real pain in the ass to get defined.

Throw in some cardio and make sure you're diet's good, otherwise you will be doing crunches until bush's re-election.
