welcome to my world
I gotta say, if you haven't seen this movie yet, go see it!

It was probably the most incredible movie I have ever seen in a very very long time. I don't even know what movie would come close. Unbelievable acting, cinematography...it makes you laugh and cry every second.

It's basically about the day-to-day racial "wars" in Los Angeles, and I don't want to give anything away, but it really makes you rethink lots of things.

It's definitely a must see.

Crazy thing Portugal. Can you believe that it'll only arrive to cinemas around me this Friday? What a shame.
Anyways, I'm expecting a lot from this movie. Everyone says it is awesome and amazing and yada yada... Well, finally I'm going to check it out.

Just a side question... Is it a good movie to bring a girl? 'Cause I'm thinking in bringing one with me... :D

I second the recommendation. It is a great movie. Note the color symbolism - bad stuff happens in the black SUV, the innocent immigrants were in a white van, the fire almost killed the woman while she was wearing a red dress. Hagis uses white=good/black=bad symbolism, which is in itself a little racist, but this falls within the theme of the movie, which is in part that all of us are a little racist, regardless of our own race.

I never would have thought that a movie of this quality could have been written by the guy who created 'The Love Boat.'

He also created "Walker, Texas Ranger," which means that he knows Chuck fvcking Norris! http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/

It was alright. Honestly I was kinda surprised to hear it got best picture. The acting was good and all, but the story was very predictable and two dimentional. There was too much emotion and not enough substance. I guess I'm just not a sucker for "society issues" type films.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I didn't like it. The main idea is that we will never escape racism... how is that a beautiful message? Art is supposed to show the ideal, how things should be. If you want to show how things are, make a documentary.

I dont know about a beautiful message and I actually got the same, we will never escape from racism message at the end. I actually agree with that thought though. We will always have racism, that is until everyone is so mixed that no one can tell what country they are from.

I felt racisms on both sides of the fence (been in the majority hating the minority and also the other way around) and this movie only reminded me of what racism really is: hate for someone you dont even know.

I wish I didnt see it because it brought a lot of demons back in my mind, but overall a good movie.

THANK YOU. I feel the exact same way. The movie was people being racist to each other for 90 minutes. Granted, at the end some people became less racist, but then some became even worse offenders. The underlying message is that yes, racism sucks, but we'll all pretty much be racists whether we like it or not.

If I want to watch people be racist to each other, I can pretty much go anywhere that predominantly features rich, white males.

It basically shows how racism is manifested. I thought it was an excellent movie, it illustrates a lot of difficult situations that provoke thought. Such a damn good sociological movie!
