I got away from a state trooper in my 4 cylinder Pontiac when I was 16. He saw me speeding the other way and had to turn around. By that time, I had gone around a curve and did a 40 mph sideways turn onto a side road. He was going too fast to make the turn and I was gone before he got back on the side road.

Some people do get away, but circumstances have to favor you heavily. Normally, unless you have warrants out already and are facing a lot of time, it is a bad idea to run.

You cannot possibly believe it is purely entertainment-based. Even if the most entertaining chase happened, but where the criminal got away and the cop shot a few bullets through private property windows which is VERY likely to happen in real life - they would not show it, despite it being entertaining. If you watched the show you would know this. And the answer to why this happens is very simple. It is somewhat influenced by the cops or whoever to make sure the show is shown how they want it to be shown. They have complete control over it, and unless they authorise it, FOX will not show it.

That's what LMS meant by PR campaign tbh.

COPS is a propaganda tactic to lead people to beleive its futile to run from cops. They want to paint a picture that if you run, youll always get caught.

But the fact is, many people outrun cops, they just dont show those clips becuase it would ruin the propaganda effect that the TV show COPS has.

Its propaganda disguised as entertainment. That TV show is actually a criminal catching tactic the government uses. Its designed to make criminals fear that theyre almost guaranteed to get caught and then a worst penalty so that criminals CHOOSE not to run, making the cop's job easier.
