i give a slight edge to coolness over looks... i'll be the first to admit i often go for looks... but the lady i'm really trying for now.. thats pretty much based on personality.. her looks are alright, but her personality has me hooked

Of course it is, if a guy is looking for a long term kinda girl and is not just looking to fool around, alot of guys are willing to sacrafice some of the looks for a good personality. ultimitaly a guy wants to find a girl with both, the looks and personality.
Just like tsmith said, im also going out with a girl who has me hooked on her personality. Luckily shes got the looks too, but im willing to say that even if her looks faded a bit, id still be willing to go out with her cause her personality.

like i said, even though personality is the deciding factor, i'd like her to look good too, she has to be presentable atleast (so... a 6 i guess?)

my standards might not be so high if i didn't think i was good looking enough and deserved someone who is equally attractive (or close). there needs to be some sort of mutual attraction. personality will seal the deal/ keep me interested however

You are right tsmith2334 to look for somebody good looking enough and equally attractive (or close) to yourself. That is what mating is all about. A dog would mate a ***** and a cat a female from its own kind. They would not mate to each other but look for individuals from theri own kind. The same goes to people. Everybody wants somebody alike himself. If he is pretty he would appreciate looks, if he is rich he would put money over everything else.
Personality will seal the deal/ keep you interested however.
