i have worked as a delivery driver for PIZZA HUT and DOMINOS

best job i have ever had. i have had some high paying sales jobs but nothing i have done has been as much fun as driving around delivering pizzas.

1. you get paid to cruise around and listen to tunes

2. you meet alot of new people

3. you meet alot of chicks

4. if you reliable you can get promoted faster than any other job

5. there is not as much money in it as a high stress sales job

6. you get heaps of cool stories

7. it's an adventure and can be dangerous

8. chicks DO invite you in ( i never went in though i was paranoid )

9. you get lots of FREE pizza ( pizza hut was free. dominos was $5 )

10. you have a job

pizza hut was alot better than dominos and a much better crew of drivers to chill with

don't take on more shifts than you can handle

better to not have many shifts rostered on and if you feel like working ring up that night and ask the shift manager if they need an extra driver ( they always need more drivers )

You don't need a resume (here you don't anyway). You just go in say you want to be a driver tell them you have a drivers license and a car and you're hired. I think its alright I drive around a couple of nights a week and earn about $150 each week minus fuel and I got a nice amount of extra money to spend during the week and you get free food.

My second job is delivering for Pizza Hut and let me tell you, it is damn easy money.

When its slow, it really sucks. You'll have to answer phones, prep for the following day, clean, make/cut pizzas, wash dishes, unload trucks, etc.

When its busy, you'll make pretty good money. You'll get paid minimum wage plus tips. You pay for your own gas and you have to put a stupid sign on your car. You need a clean driving record and you need to know how to read a map.

On a busy day from say 11am to 9pm you can easily make $175. When its slow, you MIGHT make half that. Be willing to work Friday and Saturday because those are the busy days. They say no driver can take more than 2 deliveries at once, but if you do your job and prove you're worthy, you can take 5 or 6 at once. Thats happened to me 4 times. Thats when the money piles up.

My manager called me yesterday and practically begged me to come in Thurs. to take 4 orders for 180 (one hundred eighty) total pizzas. She told me the tip was going to be over $100 plus I'll get to take deliveries between the orders. There is morning delivery guy, but she wanted me to take the orders.

I call them and tell them when I want to work and they say yes... ALWAYS. If I say I want to come in and work with 10 minutes notice, I work that day. If I want out early, I leave early. If I want time off, I get time off. If I say I want to take a smoke break, I go smoke. If I say I'm hungry, I get something to eat no questions asked.

As long as you use common sense, logic and reasoning and show some initiative, you'll be fine.
You can get promoted like nothing as long as you do your job without being asked to do something.

In other words, work hard and you'll get job perks like crazy.

Pizza Hut LOVES me.

(its not rocket science)

P.S. As for anyone that has been a driver(im sure not many), were you like a dishwasher or something first, or did you immediately beocme a driver?
Apply for driver and you'll be a driver. I drove in the area for a long time before working for Pizza Hut. Trust me, you don't want to do those other jobs.

Hey, thanks again for all the replies, but I got one more question:

I live in Ontario, and, naturally, we have long winters. if I were a driver, would I probably lose only a few hours, or a hell of a lot, because of less/far less demand?

Anyone else had this problem?

No, winter is better than summer. You make the money because people will be stuck inside instead of grilling out. With football on, you'll make that much more (depending on how close you are to the U.S.)

Demand is greatest in late fall to just before spring. Once it starts getting warm, demand falls off. At least that's how it is around here in the Chicago area.

Anyhow, as I am looking towards Pizza Hut(they said they are looking for a driver), when I go in to hand in a resume, is there any chance that they might higher me for something else, or on my resume do I include that I *only* want to be a delivery guy, nothing else?

Anything else noteworthy?

P.S. I have worked at a grocery store for about 3 years, where my dad got me the job, so I have never dealt with a resume or anything.

Thanks.
If you want the most money for the least amount of hours get a job as a waiter. If you go to a decent place that is busy you will average over $20 an hour. Waiting tables at pizza hut doesn't pay that great, though...but you can learn there.
