Considering Pizza Delivery

I am 18, strongly considering going for a job as a pizza delivery man. Anyhow, as I am looking towards Pizza Hut(they said they are looking for a driver), when I go in to hand in a resume, is there any chance that they might higher me for something else, or on my resume do I include that I *only* want to be a delivery guy, nothing else?

Anything else noteworthy?

P.S. I have worked at a grocery store for about 3 years, where my dad got me the job, so I have never dealt with a resume or anything.

Thanks.

I would take any position just to get your foot in the door. By demonstrating to the manager that you are willing to take any job to help achieve your goal of a delivery driver, shows that you are a person of character.

They may ask you "why do you think you would be a good pizza delivery driver," so make sure you have an answer they want to hear ready!

good luck!

Gotta agree with Insidious.

If you get the chance to do it bud, I think its well worth it. My friend delivers for Gabriel's pizza a couple nights a week and he gets a ridiculous amount of tips.

I guess you could tell them you were inquiring about the delivery job. Don't limit yourself to that though.

i dated a dude that was a papa johns manager years ago
his sister and cousins all delivered for him,
seemed kinda neat that they all worked together like that.

he makes about $60,000 a year between his salary and bonuses.

Back when I was a loser I drove around doing chinese delivery for like a year.....I pretty much sat in the corner and read the paper all day until i got a call for delivery where I would drive to the house, smoke pot, and listen to music.....I made pretty good money but I destroyed my car.

If I were you I'd set your sites a little higher as this is not a glamorous job at all..... the only reason I took is was so that I'd have as little contact with people as possible since I was an anxiety ridden zombie. I don't miss it at all. Get a job that will help you practice your dj skills like salesman or cashier or something.

what about applying for waiting tables and bartending?

If you do it at a nice place, you could make good money plus get good interaction.

I drove for Godfather's Pizza for a few years and made lots of cash. Most pizza places are always looking for drivers and will train you in other areas as well.

The thing is, I do not want a job that requires a lot of physical exertion. I am trying to gain some mass, and with my bagger job, where I am constantly walking to push carts, and with my ultra-fast metabolism, this makes it impossible to gain anything.

Thus, being a waiter or the like is not much of an option. Don't get me wrong, I am not closing my mind on all jobs, I already get payed fairly good as a bagger, as I've been there for awhile, but I am tired of being skinny, and would like to get paid well too. Not to mention i;d like a new job, after pushing carts for 3 years.

Thanks for all the opinions/advice so far.

P.S. As for anyone that has been a driver(im sure not many), were you like a dishwasher or something first, or did you immediately beocme a driver?

True, but by not burning an estimated 1000+ calories from walking around all shift, I'm sure I can gain a little more muscle:)
Being an ectomorph sucks, especially alongside a brother that is a meso.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Dude, you're going to burn a ton of calories if you deliver pizza.

When I was in college, I worked for three years for a food delivery service. I delivered food for several restaurants right to customer's homes, everything to upscale food, Mexican food, Italian, pizza delivery, Indian food, you name it.

If you're trying to gain weight by lifting, it's going to be damn near impossible, I hate to tell you. The whole time I worked there, I also worked out about 4 days a week and ate as often as possible, 6 times a day or so. I never gained weight.

When I was doing delivery, running up flights of stairs to get the food delivered on time was common, not to mention running up 2 flights of stairs, carrying to huge bags full of food for those large corporate orders. You get tons of cardio type exercise doing this type of work, and if I did a heavy workout before my shift, I was hating life.

I didn't start gaining any significant size or strength until I quit that job to be a customer service rep.

You can make some decent money doing this, especially for large corporate orders with built in tips, but the money is hit and miss.

I agree about getting the 200 dollar car. Save your good car for dates. Buy a 4cyl beater and make some deliverys. I knew a few people who made 125-175 on a busy night. Not bad for just driving around.

I've been working for Pizza hut for about a year and a half now.

If you drive and drive well, you get away with murder, they ALWAYS need drivers.

In between tips, interesting stories, being tipped with pot, booze, etc its not actually as bad a job as claimed.

By just demonstrating you are a good worker, your chances of promotion are pretty high. I got promoted after 3 months to a shift supervisor, and a lot of management positions are offered to drivers and senior kitchenhands in house.

Still do 2 shifts a week driving though, because its fun.
