is the figure that I've seen tossed around, but they wont take you, typically, until you've had 3-4 years of infantry expericence in the Army or the Marines. Still, 150k can retire you in the USA, if you know how to invest it, and you should have saved another 30k in those 3-4 military years, too. It's something that a lot of high school guys should consider, for sure. The GI bill will pay for your college, too, to a certain extent, at least.
