Here's a comment somebody made that I thought was insightful...
"The "5 minute return text = not worthy" is not that simple. On the surface, it sounds illogical, but deep down: it's totally reasonable. See, Daddy wasn't there. Maybe not at all, but definitely not enough. Maybe he showed up 3 weeks after your 10th birthday with a crap present. Meanwhile, mommy's new boyfriend tried hard to win you over: too hard. So, you text back in 5, you're Mommy's boyfriend: get lost. You wait 24 hours: you're Daddy....that Daddy she's spent her whole life trying to get to love her."
