Yes the monster totally fvcked the building and the people in the New York stock exchange. While Godzilla is FSU up in Japan and destroying the Nikkei stock exchange. I saw it tonight. I think most of the people in the theater hated it.
I would like to like the movie; I like movies that are different. But this one is hard to like. It's not intelligent enough, and asks you to overlook a ridiculous plot full of holes so that you can enjoy some touchy-feely young adult love story. And the main character guy is a giant AFC. The movie is about his AFC fantasy of being some kind of super hero save-a-ho.
The big monster takes the full brunt of the country's military, yet the small ones get beat up by the non-threatening cast? Those little ones need more Sluggo or something. The main guy had a bloody arm after the bug fight, but he was fine afterward, no Alien-like consequences for him. The camera the guy used also had the amazing battery that never died. The one female lead keeps her high heels on while running across the city. Then she walks barefoot across broken glass and rubble when they get to the building, now carrying the heels. The chick with the re-bar through her chest technically could have survived if it missed everything important, but she is still in too good of shape afterward.
I like a lot of weird movies that a lot of people don't, but not this one.
