Those are 2 brands I like personally. I'm still kind of new to cigars and I enjoy them. I'm at the stage where I'll buy anything I can to try them out.
Kahlua started off good, but then tasted badly and ended up with a VERY uneven burn - to the tune of one side being an inch longer than the other.

I'll never touch one to my lips with that fruity plastic tip.

Anyways, my favorite cigar so far is the Partagas Black Label. I just got back home from enjoying one, and when I smell it again the next day on my shirt, I like that smell better than some of my colognes. My friends have commented on how good it smells too, compared to other stogies.

My super-sophisticated way of weeding out other cigars to find that one for the first time was to...

...just pick the darkest cigar in the store :p

I found a store with some pre-embargo Cubans though, which I am going to get when I get paid again, along with a cigar with a nice cocoa flavor.

Partagas Black is a very good, if not a bit hard, cigar on an amateur pallate.

If it's the darkest maduro you want look no further my friend than the Iguana Mutant Black. Absolutely beautiful cigar with a smooth yet robust smoke.

Ashton maduro and the Amoroso maduro are very good. Of the three my favorite is the Amoroso robusto 54 x 4 3/4. Wonderful smoke for very little money.

Let me know what you think.

Kittybaby,

A cuban may be too full flavored a smoke for you. I would advise something from CAO's line of flavored cigars. Moontrance is what my lady fancies. It's mellow and has a very smooth background.

Give Gio the cuban :)

Right on brother

If full flavor, hearty smoke is what you're looking for Rocky Partel vintage 1992 may be just what you're looking for. Drew Estate Java super toro is another you'd dig.

My 1000th post.

Prudence dictates I should cross this small footstone with a post to my own (and favorite) thread.

Here it is all of my enlightenment and generousity for all of my brothers:

Smoke, drink, fvck, eat and most of all, love each other (platonically you sick fvcks!).

True Cuban Cohibas and Punch cigars

Recieved one of each of these from a close friend (yes, they are real and hard to come by). I've smoked the Cohiba, which has two rings. One is a double embossed Cohiba ring and the other is a black Reserva. Very very nice stick. Probably the best I've had this year! Shared it with Mrs. Karma by the pool with nice glass of Jack Daniels Green Label.

the joys...

Had my first cigar on Christmas at a relatives house....I must say smoking a cigar is very relaxing and enjoyable..

It was a Don Tomas from the Dominican Republic...

It was a great time, because the cigars was shared by the company of the older uncles. Lots of laughs ( guy humor..dirty jokes ) and stories.

So what is a good, relatively smooth and light quality cigar for a beginner?

Glad you enjoyed your cigar brother. Don Tomas is good for a low priced maduro. This is the essence of the cigar experience. The camaraderie is exponentially more valuable than the price of a quality cigar.

Brother, I would recommend the Rocky Patel vintage 1992, Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real robusto, also Don Tomas Corojo is very smooth.

If you're in the mood for something with a bit of bite to it try a CAO Brazilia.

Welcome to the brotherhood of the leaf.

There isn't any particular brand or style you should be searching out. It's all relative. You can shop at your local cigar store or tobacconist or go online:

http://www.thompsoncigar.com/default.aspx?sid=kstb4pi4mxps5b5510m0mt45&page=subcategory&uid=Humidors&CategoryID=Humidors
or
http://jrcigar.com/index.cfm?page=accessories_menu&type=hum

What is imperative is well built construction. Make sure it can hold at least 100 robusto sized cigars and that the tray is spanish cedar as well. Make sure it's heavy for it's size and read my post about the humidification process to get you started.

Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

The following was overheard in a doctor's office.
Said to Joe Camel: "Since you're such a smooth character, I'll give it to you straight. You have cancer of the hump."
