The more guys I help in real life and the more pictures I see of some of our Sosuave members the more apparent it becomes that style is a big problem when it comes to getting girls.
I understand that everyone wants to be unique, different, or stand out in a crowd however I strongly believe this is more detrimental than positive. Everyone one has their personal tastes regarding what they find attractive. However certain styles are universal.
The more "unique" you try to make your "look" the less number of women will find you attractive. Plain and simple.
It's no different than trying to sell a car, house, or anything really. The more you can make whatever you are selling the most appealing to the masses the hotter of a commodity it becomes. It's why they recommend you paint your house with neutral colors. You need to target the largest number of buyers. Conversely its the same reason those highly customized cars stay for sale for months and years. To the guy who owns it he thinks it looks great, but he's the only one.
I see it all the time. Some guy who is trying really hard to be different than the guy next to him so he is sporting some weird style that he thinks makes him more attractive. Then he wonders why he can't find any women or he can't get laid. Sure there might be SOME chicks out there who dig that look but MOST will not.
As guys we've all probably seen a girl who we've thought "Wow she could be really hot if she wasn't wearing that." Or had that awful hairstyle, piercing, tattoo, bad makeup, etc, etc.
Now don't get me wrong I do believe that putting your personal stamp on your style is a good thing. However the further you venture from what is classically found attractive by the masses the less success you will have. The better looking you are and the stronger your game, the more freedom you have to pull off a really unique look. The uglier you are then the more you need to be keeping it classic. If you have no game the same thing.
The worst combination ever is a guy who isn't overly attractive, has little game and is sporting a really funky style in some lame kind of effort to peacock and get some attention from chicks. It's not going to work because the guy is probably eliminating 90% of the potential targets in the room. We've all heard the saying it's a numbers game, well this guy just made things 10 times more difficult.
This brings me to my next point. We are all constantly being judged on our looks and generally people tend to associate with others who share similar styles and appearances. You can't away from this fact.
I have a great friend who is forever single and is always complaining about how he can't find a woman. He happens to be one of these guys who likes to dress funky all the time. He takes GREAT pride in his "look" and if you mention to him that maybe he should tone it down a little he gets fiercely defensive. His "style" means everything to him. Ironically that same style keeps him very lonely as many people (men and women) won't associate with him and think he is "weird".
Now in closing, I just want to note that I'm not recommending everyone become some kind of generic cookie cutter. However some guys can pull off certain looks that others cannot. If you are one of those guys pulling your hair out wondering why chicks don't give you a second look it may be time to adjust your style. What YOU think looks good might not be working to your advantage.
