choosing a hairstyle

I need advice on hairstyles.

I'm not going bald but my hairline is naturally very far back on the sides.

I got made fun of because of it when I was younger. For the longest time I've tried to mask it as best I could by leaving my hair curly and keeping it at a medium length.

The problem is it doesn't look all that great and it blows around and doesn't much hide the problem anyways.

So I've tried gelling it back for the first time and I kind of like it but I'm still looking for advice.

I've tried talking to barbars and they seem just as baffled as I do. Anyone have a similar problem?

when all else fails, cut it short

you dont need long hair or soething suave comed back

just get a buzz cut and cut it very short all around

as long as you dont have giant bald spots, you will be fine

Bro not to be mean but you aren't going bald but you ARE receding quiet a bit!

Your hair looks a lot better when its dry and curly. When it has gel and you slick it back, you look like your trying to hard to look "cool."

I would shave your head bro, its low maintence and girls always run up to rub your hair..

It looks better in the "Old" picture. You just need to let the sides grow more. The front is kind of weird. I bet its because you use some kind of shapoo that has conditioner. You need to get some shapoo that adds body and fullness. I use Loreal for men. It won't make your hair look so dry. Plus, I think this might be a good look for you. On the top of your head make a mohawk/fauxhawk. Put some water on the top of your head, put your hands at both sides of the top of your head and connect your hands. This should get you the fauxhawk look, and I think it'll look NICE! Try it out and post a pic and see what it looks like.

Also try this one. It's an emo look. You do the same a the fauxhawk except the front (the hair closets to the hair line) You comb it to the side diagonally towards the direction of your earlobs. So you comb in down and to the side (diagnoally). That will get rid of your hair line visibility and it looks NICE! Try both and post the pics.

EDIT:
PS. Do not flatten the sides or comb them back. It just makes you look like you have an even worse receding hair line. Just poof it out a little.

I see what your saying about trying too hard to look cool.

I think that may be more a product of my facial expression than what little hair you can see.

I'm going to try to get a few opinions from the girls I know. If that doesn't work out, I may just shave it.

Attitude and personality is going to matter a lot more than what my hair looks like but I sure as hell don't want it working against me.

seems like everyone is giving advice to driveon based on their own opinion. why listen to others when their form of hairstyle consists of just one style or one boring generic style (buzzcut/bald.) I've experimented with buzzcuts, bald cuts, long hair, medium hair. It really depends on your face for the most part...

to the point, the first pic:

seems alright, dunno what's wrong with it. However to me it seems kinda boyish, relaxed. Gonna guess this was when you were younger?

the second pic:

you seem more mature in this picture, but you got this sleaze appearance for some reason, think it's from a slick back hair.

... yeah you seem to have a receeding hairline, a full head of hair is seen as generally attractive (despite what the buzzcut/bald crowd says) , but the 2nd pic just oozes sleaze, only thing i can recommend if your hair is truly receeding is to have an equal hair length cut on the sides and on top, or at least mostly on the sides.

If you shave your head, you'll look wierd for like first week or two, but after that It will look great if you dress appropriate to shaved head... Non of that, good soon, good student kinda look.

And, it looks better before than after!

I shaved my head before and it worked. It suited me just like todays hair stile (a bit long). But nothing special.

Someone said once "people with beautiful faces look good with shaved heads" ... I have no clue if its true or not...
