Cheap Cologne...

Ok, so the other night I was going to go to this dance. I went to go put some cologne on but i ran out of my good stuff. I ended up using this really cheap stuff and expected not to get many compliments on it. It ended up that at least 5 girls complimented me on it. Has anybody had this happen before. I always thought that girls didnt like cheap coclogne.

It's something called Avatar. It's really soapy. It was like 15 bucks for 3 oz.

no, cool water smells like something my cat killed, let sit in the sun for a week, and then dragged inside through the septic tank.

I have a bottle of cool water as a gift. everybody I have showed it to says it smells like ass and is the most disgusting cologne invented.

Burberry, Obsession and Cool Water..... Cool Water is more of a daily everyday cologne...the other two are for the ladies....

You're looking at between $50 - $70 for a decent cologne. I would suggest:

-Chanel 'Plantinum Egoiste'
-Dunhill 'Desire Blue'
-Rochas 'Man'
-Burberry London Men

Since u folks are all at high school still (those were the days!) a good scam to work is to head into a shop that sells a lot of fragrances and try to talk them into giving you as many samples as you can.

A bit of flirting with the girl behind the desk and a good **** and bull story and you'll leave with a bag full of samples (I told them I was a student doing a market research survey and they ended up giving me four or five different samples of each one).

Least that will give you a little variation and you'll get some idea of what to blow your cash on when u decide to buy a full bottle.

Else if you're really cheap do it all over again.

I've still got loads of tiny testers of colognes in many of my jacket pockets that serve me very well. Especially if you're not returning home for the night. It's good for making you smell goood next day.


Paul Smith London is the sh*t
and Hugo Boss is always good.

I'm told that ultra violet is horrid.

Anyone got any other top tips?

I use Tommy Hilfiger. $20 for 1.7 oz.. Nothing but positive reaction from everybody. I have never heard someone tell me they didn't like it.

Have worn it for over 2 years now--works great .

Ok so skip below to bypass the story and see what I think the best cologne is.


I used to wear Dolce and Gabbana (I have worn cool water as well and received many complements. I replaced because I received more complements on D&G). The other day I was Christmas shopping to pick up a good cologne for my friend. I first narrowed down my selection to 2 colognes with the 2 girls who worked behind the counter (D&G, Armani Black Code). We ran through a bunch like, Polo Black, also RL Blue, CK Truth, Vera something for men, whatever. The point is these two seemed to be good. So,I turned this into a game and literally went around to at least 20 different women with these two scents on slips of paper. It took about 40 minutes but almost every woman had a difficult time deciding between the two, however the majority clearly said that "there was just something about the one on the left [the black code]" (I didn't tell them what each cologne was beforehand.
