OK, as a corollary to my other thread, https://www.sosuave.net/forum/threads/45-and-really-starting-over.250238/ , I decided to report my adventures here to seek advice and as a form of accountability.

So, I wrote in my earlier thread that I've been saying "hi" to random women. My goal is to continue this for one month, to jut get used to saying "hi" and perhaps talking to women again. I'll say "hi" to one strange woman whenever I'm out. At least one. If it moves beyond "hi," good, if not, so what.

So today is day one. I'm at Walmart this morning and there's this decent-looking, middle aged woman---long black hair, casually dressed---- staring blankly at the empty shelves in the detergent aisle (god, this sounds corny). I was kind of disappointed myself as I needed detergent. So I go up next to her thinking I'll make some joke about things being like the eastern bloc around here. It's then that I notice the ring. I'm not out to flirt with married women BUT......I still said "Boy, they never have anything in here," as I pulled some weird brand down off the shelf. And that was it. She kind of guffawed and I walked away.

woman #2: I forgot that I needed an iron. So later on, after I got home I go back out to Target (corny, corny). I'm walking down the aisle and this real cutie is coming my way. Mid 30s, brown hair (I'm a brunette man). So I figure I HAVE to say "hi" to her. But the closer I got to her, it was like she was forcing herself to look the other way. I mean, it was obvious she was ding all she could to avoid looking at me. I didn't say anything and let her pass. then I'm at the self checkout and I see out of the corner of me eye the ruffle of a skirt. I look and sure enough, there's this hippie chick, maybe 25, standing there. "Hi," I said with a fine smile. She answered and quickly looked at the ground. Like she just stepped in sh!t. Who cares. I finished and left.

Must add that I'm wearing jeans, a good fitting t-shirt. I've a 2 day beard and I stink like tiger balm from rubbing it all over my broken rib. I'm also wearing my bifocals, not contacts.

Now, what did I do wrong, could've done better. What did I do right and what can I do next time?

For me, I definitely should've said "hi" to that one who was looking the other way. I mean, who cares where she's looking. And I've got to get out more. Just going to the store is lame.

But, I'm going to try to slowly begin working out again tomorrow. Hopefully my rib is healed enough.

Thank you

Day 2

I did go to the park and I did workout even with a broken rib! i'm an armor-plated motherfvcker!!

While there, this group of 4 women came walking past the pull up bars. I'd say thy were anywhere from a 5-7, in my estimation. Mid30s at the oldest. all of them had stringy, oily hair, tattoos and they all looked 8 miles high. nevertheless, they all looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and one of them said that I looked winded. "Nah," I said, "I just have a broken rib." "well, take care, "they said and continued on.

About 10 minutes later 'm banging out a set of 25 pushups. I finish and stand up and there's this middle-aged women walking past. I couldn't tell what she looked like. all I remember is she had dark hair. I was a sweaty mess, breathing heavy and in pain. "Wow," she says, "impressive! I'm lucky if I could do one." I must add here that she had with her who I assume must've been her daughter. Maybe 12 or13. I never know what to say to women when they have their kids with them. "Yeah, right," I said, catching my breath. "Thank you. You have a nice evening."

Now what I noticed tonight is that these women came up to ME. I didn't initiate anything.

I know I'm old enough to have this sh!t down, but you've gotta give me a break for years of self neglect. So I ask again:

1What re your thought on what I did right or wrong, what I could've done differently.

thanks again. Everyone has been helpful!

It's more important that you were able to read the non-verbal cues that she was not interested. Guys who are really bad with women are not able to notice subtle things like that. It's the same at the other extreme, too, being oblivious to girls who are interested.

Talking to random women is great, but I think being able to notice the ones who are interested in talking to you is ten times more important.

OK. Been busy with my son the past few days. Haven't really gone anywhere nor have I had the opportunity to converse with any women. Today is day 6. Will update tomorrow.

I am good at picking up the non verbal stay away cues. So long as I'm not picking up on these, I think its a safe bet to say hello. Reciprocation would be nice.....but not necessary at this point

U did not do anything wrong...the issue is you dont know what your smv is. It take time and experience as u can tell what kind of girl like u. Once u know when u can go for risker stuff then hello which will get you a bigger risk to reward ratio.
