Calling an ex-girlfriend 145 times in 11 hours lands a man in jail

A Florida man accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend called the woman 145 times in the span of 11 hours Friday and even caused the school where the woman works to be put on lockdown because he threatened to blow up the building, police said.

Kirk Trim, 36, who lives in Pompano Beach, faces charges of aggravated stalking, The Palm Beach Post reported. He allegedly called the woman's Boca Raton workplace, the Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, and when a police officer answered the phone, Trim reportedly said, "I am not scared of the cops. I will give you my address."

"You will have to call the SWAT team on me," he allegedly said in one of the messages.

Trim was released on bail Saturday from Palm Beach County Jail.

I know a guy who did 60 days in county over a single text message. Baby momma got an order of protection with no contact order. Then she posted to facebook that their kid was sick and she was taking him to the hospital. He texted her about the kid, she showed the phone to the cops, and they took him straight to jail. The kid wasn't actually sick; she made up the story to trick him into contacting her.

Fine, then do it to women too, and there'd be another 2-3 million women in jail right now. I agree the behavior is out of line, but jailable? We have become way too police state and the bias in gender treatment is outrageous. This utilization of the police force as dating and life counselors for women who aren't in any real danger needs to end yesterday. Far more damage is done by cops getting their pig jollies intimidating normal, nonviolent, but distraught men in this way into a reaction so they can have some of their sadistic special pig brand of fun.

Wonder how much print was given to investigating what the innocent little princess might have done to deserve the harrassment? Sure, it's always just some "dude who couldn't take no for an answer." Sure it is. Rant off.

I dont think the guy belongs in jail, because I think he suffered some sort of a nervous breakdown which can happen when a person experiences break up. IT is a temporary blackout due to extreme emotions, so the guy needed psychiatric help. This is clearly done out of mental anguish, not with malicious intent.

I didn't see anything relating to that in either the charges against him or the linked article. This thread was about stalking behavior, which women sure as hell do plenty of, has happened to me many times. Thing is, it's cutesy and socially acceptable when a girl does it, even if she tears stuff up. When a man does it, even some average lovesick joe, it's instantly some kind of hideous felony. This is a double standard that needs to stop yesterday.
