I wanted to get a family share plan with my dad and wanted to get the razor but its way too expensive in the stores and i stumbled to www.inphonic.com and foud that you can get two free black motorola razors with a 2 year contract. Has anyone bought a cell phone from here. Or if you know if its a scam.

if they are giving away Moto Razors, the phones are re-furbed or used too much to be sold as new, as far as I know you cant get Razors on 2 year contract for free

I work for Verizon, and we have some pretty crummy phones for free

Free phones, even two, with contracts are standard down here. As are free game consoles, car stereos, etc.

It's not a scam as such, it's like anything in life - quite often if you are prepared to commit yourself long term, there are bonuses attached.

That said, I would never, ever commit to a 2 year phone contract again.

Cheaper, better phones and call packages always come out 6 months later.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

I assume you're Australian.

I've done a 2 year phone contract and got a free Nokia 7250i.
(I actually got out of the contract 6 months early because my useage was higher some months.)

I'm now on another 2 year contract getting another free phone Nokia 6230i.

They give you a free phone so that you'll have a phone plan with them. The phone plan costs MUCH more then the phone would do outright.

I pay $55 per month on my contract. multiply that by 24 months. and its FAR greater then the price of the phone.

Just make sure you don't lose the phone. Or you have to buy some crappy old phone and use your contract on that phone, Or pay out the contract which will cost heaps.

whatever you do, DON'T GET A CONTRACT!

my parents got into one of those contracts to get the free cellphones, it has been nothing but problems for them. Hidden fees, expensive, you name it. It has cost them way more than what it was worth.

no obligations prepaid is the way to go. The only drawback is that you have to fork up the money to buy the cellphone, but trust me the piece of mind you get without contracts is priceless.

I used to work for Sprint/Verizon.

Let me tell you, there's really no way around a 2 year contact if you want to get the "new customer" price for a phone.

I had the sprint employee plan for over a year, and I believe they were the most reliable out of any company.

I'm with T-Mobile right now, and they SUCK compared to sprint, I wish I could go back.

i got a morotola v330 for free from a website... but i only have a 1 year contract with t-mobile.
HEHE i'm gonna got a V3 as soon as it ends!

I think you can make money on a phone now... not on the razor, but the cheaper models.

It works like a mail in rebate:

you show them u paid for first three months and they send you back the money.

here's one website where u can get the RAZR for free:

http://a1wireless.com/

you can search for others.

Well no kidding. If your parents had done research before they signed up for a plan just to get a free phone then they would have had some idea of what it was they were getting themselves into. The intelligent thing to do is take a look at everything regarding a situation before you get into it. Not that your parents aren't intelligent, but not looking into it before hand wasn't exactly a smart thing to do.

There is nothing wrong with going into contracts, as long as you know exactly what you're getting and how much it will cost before you sign. I've had a cell phone for about 5 years now, and sign 1-year contracts. When I get out of the contract, I shop around for a new one - if I'd done prepaid instead I'd have paid 3x more. As is, I have more minutes than I need, the perfect amount of options... and I knew beforehand how much it would cost me each month. People who don't look into that sort of thing just confuse me - I mean, do they not like having money?

Yup, same 'hood' as you bro!

Diablo is right, 1 year contracts are the way to go, if anything. 2 Years is too restrictive.

Or even better, a prepaid cap plan.

Down here I can pay by the month a small rate, and get 4 times that in calls. Yeah, the call rate is slightly higher, but not 4 times higher.

My current plan has no bonuses attached, apart from free calls to those on the same network after 8pm.

So.... just do the research and sums first...

I hate getting into contracts, i signed up for a $0 mobile phone that has a two year contract, and a couple of months later i am already having problems with my phone (stuff don't work properly) and i keep going over the monthly cap yet i don't use it that much (i stay away from downloading ****ty tones and crap like that). I'm thinking of paying out the contract (****ing steep though) and going prepaid and if they don't let me go prepaid i'm going to say you can cram your phone up your arse and go to another service.
