i'm 5'9 and 155 lbs, with a 13% bodyfat or so.
i'd like to get bigger, but i don't want to look even shorter than i actually am.
my girlfriend, my family and even my friends recently started to tell me that my muscles look good, but i'm beginning to look shorter and shorter as i gain weight. i noticed this myself when i look into the mirror and it's not good, since i'm already shorter than 80% of my peers. will i keep looking shorter and shorter as my weight increases?

jay, ive read alot of your posts and it seems to me you need to get over some issues.

I mean, who cares if you look stocky if your bigger? If you like having big muscles and it makes you confident then who cares if someone may perceive you as "stocky".

You can always start gaining and when you feel like you've reached the threshold or the physical peak of attractiveness then stop.

Its really not that hard bro.

Just quit overanalyzing every little thing because it appears that you do that quite a bit.

You want to change your accent your height your ears, everything. just do YOU.

im out

I'm one inch shorter than you and weigh 40 pounds more and no one has ever told me I look stocky.

I get nothing but positive feedback.

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

actually you're right... i'm very good in approaching ladies and hooking up, but i tend to worry about these 3 fùcking things: accent, ears and height... if i were able to change them, i'd feel like a God;)

you only look stocky when you gain muscle if you retain a high body fat percentage. so gain weight, but keep that bf low so you look lean and ripped like vin diesel

155 at 5'9 is not stocky at all...what the hell are you talking about?

Actually, I'd say that's kinda thin. I mean, I hover around 160-165 at 5'7 and consider myself to be small.

Get up to 180 at 5'9, and you might have something to say.

who cares, if you could lay on your back and bench those people?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

for sure dude... 155 @ 5'9" is a skinny bastard...

I got a buddy that's 185-190 @ 5'8" and like 11% BF and he's "stocky" but not huge... and I'm > 200 lbs @ 5'10" and I'm not that big...

Put some more weight on those bones!

190 for 5'9 is well above normal and average. Maybe if you live in a gym around a bunch of meat heads 190 will seem normal. Depending on your frame, assuming you have low bodyfat, skinny for 5'8 is 134-145. Below that and you're a real scrawny emo bastard. 150-165 is fairly normal and lean for that height. Obviously you have a lot of room for growth at that weight though.

maybe i'm using a wrong word, but i'm not a native speaker. what i'm saying is that when i started out at 130 lbs, i looked average height even though i had a really small frame and my shoulders were narrow. now, i've gained 25 lbs and people refer to me as short and large... consider that usually 5'9 people over here are under 135 lbs (at my age)
