Hey all,

Wow it's been so long and its my 500th post!

Anyway Im joining a gym soon and i was wondering:

1) Should I go on creatine straight away? (I wanna gain two stone - 28lbs asap!)

2) Should I show my skinnyguy.net programme to the gym instructor or follow the programme they give me?

3) I have Whey Protein (Prolab NLarge 2 and EAS Myopro), Creatine (Prolabd Monohydrate), and some glutamine (Vitamin Shoppe). Do you recommend anymore supps?

Thanks in advance!

1. creatine has recently been linked to health issues, and in the near future will be only sold to a specified market.

2. you need someone else to read for you? anthony ellis's program is superior when followed strictly in comparison to the average personal trainers advice.

3. flax oil, multi vitamin

thanks, drive thru

Would you mind specifying your source?

No, I just wanted to know which would be better.

Thanks for the answers though.

Creatine is banned in France and here in Ireland they're thinking of doing the same!

What the Fvck for?

All I've seen is positives... there was a huge post on supliments a while back, and it detailed all the good points of creatine.. with hardly any bad ones.

The only real problem that I know with it, is that if you dont drink water like it's running out of style, you'll screw yourself up.

I'd love to see the article too.

Not a major issue. As far as I know, it'll only be banned to sell it. Taking it wont make you a criminal.

A while back, there was a load of stuff that went on between www.amazon.de and the german law personages. The .de site was selling a banned book [written by hitler] so they had to stop. However, cause there was a .com site, and all other countries hadnt banned the book, it could still be shipped out to germany [dont know if germany took action against that in the end though]

No idea where that came from, and if it'll be at all useful incase creatine isnt allowed to be sold in ireland anymore, but meh

OK, to answer your Q's.

1) Get on creatine ASAP. There are no health risks. Period.

2) Why do you have a gym instructor. Is this a class? If it's not, tell him to mind his own business. I don't know what the Ellis program looks like, but make sure you go heavy on bench, deads, and squats.

3) I'd pick up a multivitamin and maybe some flax oil, just like Duke said.

Don't worry about supps so much as you worry about food and sleep. Good luck.

Hey all.

I hit the gym last night and was just messing around for the first time - I asked the gym instructor what he thought of the programme (skinnyguy) and he said i should get used to excercises in general for about 4 weeks before i start it.

Im going for a health/fitness test on monday.

He said if i started on the programme straight away itd mess me up, so he showed me how to use the machines for a while.

I know u dont use machines for ellis' programme but it was good to just mess around a bit for the first time and familiarize myself with the whole 'gym thing'.

I feel so much more confident now too!

:)

Excellent that you're feeling comfortable in the evironment :)

Forget pretty much all of what you just learnt, except for lat pulldowns and leg curls. Great to see you're using freeweights right from the get go though :)

He's right in having a sort of warm up phase, so to speak. I did mine for 6 weeks just to make sure I was comfortable. Do pretty much the same excersizes that you would for the Ellis programme, only a lot lighter. This way your body gets used to it more naturally - muscles get used to heavy loads, ligaments will start to strengthen, etc.

Keep us posted :)

2 stones - 28 lbs. Wow, that might take about 3 to 4 months. I'm assuming you just want lean muscle mass. Muscle mass buildup is about 2 lbs per week. Good luck dude.

You need to acquaint yourself with machines and lifting motion. I don't think you need a month to acquaint yourself, like what your instructor said. You need only 1-2 weeks to get use to the mechanics, then start your program.

Repeated long term studies have proven this to be false.

The only health issue is the effects of dehydration if you don't drink enough water.

He said if i started on the programme straight away itd mess me up, so he showed me how to use the machines for a while.
If you read the book then you'd know his program addresses this. Read the book.

2 lbs of lean muscle in a week?? That's insane dude... that's saying you can theoretically put on 104 lbs in a year... I don't think so.

The massive amounts I've heard of have been... 25- 40 lbs of lean muscle, in a year, by professionals. That's considered "insane."

If oyu take creatine you gain a few pounds at the begining, once you stop taking it, you will lose the weight again

28 pounds isnt something you can add in a few months in any case

When you are first bulking, you can put on considerable quality weight, i mean i am still currently bulking, and in 3 months I have put on 37 pounds.

the trick is to eat like close to 4000 calories a day. (40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat)

to train really heavy, managing with a spotter 6 - 8 reps maximum

supplement with creatine/glutamine and whey, all the rest isnt going to put massive slabs of meat on.

and its alos important to sleep like 10+ hours a day, and drink plenty of juice.

hope this helps, and good luck. ;)

I hear a lot of 'I gained 11lbs of muscle in my 7 week bulking phase, is that good?' at some forums and laugh, cause it's such BS.

Time, dedication, intensity and consistancy. If you stick by that at all times you'll be the best you can be. Results wont disappoint.

and in 3 months I have put on 37 pounds.
Using the numbers you've given, you're eating 333g protein a day? and 333g of carbs? I wont say a word.

btw, 37lbs of lean muscle mass in 3 months? Get off the boards and turn pro. asap.

I've been taking creatine for awhile and haven't noticed anything except the water retention.

I just cycled off for the first time about a week ago. I was pounding my legs yesterday as usual, and I almost fainted. Thats when I realized how much energy creatine was giving me.
