I'm sorry if I made you look in the mirror. I really am. But the guy asked a question and I was trying to answer it.

and that wasn't ment to be a slant in any way shape or forum. I've been here what.. 5years and have 4500 posts.. My whole damn life is on this forum. Anyone who has used the search button knows that
Nothing personal I dont know why I should be looking into the mirror to understand anything.

My whole point was that you have 4500 posts and searching for a back story on anyone with that many posts is going to take a lot more time than you providing a paragraph or two saying how you got were you are.

If you are going to spend time responding to posts about finance you should take a little bit of time to respond to posters who are genuinely interested in how you became financially secure. You responded to the thread with personal opinions and experiences. Why should anyone who is genuinely interested in your rise to economic status not be able to ask you how you got to where you talk about?

It is the equivalent of me derailing one of the "I lost my virginity" threads with a story about how I lost mine. Then following up with multiple posts about how pvssy is pvssy and once you've gotten so much it doesn't matter. Then when someone asks me how I got to this point I say quit bothering me and search my past posts. Granted I dont post my whole life on this forum, if I did I still should be willing to answer the questions that I bring on myself when they are asked.

There is a weird ego thing with people who are popular on here responding to posts that they think are below them. This site has a lot of guys who love to talk about themselves on their own time and ignore people who genuinely seek knowledge in the form of backstories. I dont know but if you have bettered yourself from the advice given on this forum by those that aren't around anymore who took the time to help you out the least that can be done is the same favor in turn to the newer guys.

no there is not. not at all. I get PM's everyday and I will answer any question that anyone asks me. 9/10ths' of my yahoo IM is from people on here who want to talk to me. I have no problem with that.. hell, lol, that's the only reaosn I'm here. to give baqck

no.. my problem is with people who dont' want to put work in , but want you to throw answers at them.

what gets me about people... I"m no different than anyone here. I'm not dumb ovbiously but I don't have a 180 IQ or anything (136).. I used to be a fat bastard when I had my computer company... I wasn't born with the knowledge to beat horse racing, I learned it.

the only difference between me and most people here, is I'm not afraild of failure and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and sweat a little. that's it. it really is that simple.

And to make it easier, lol, just search for the threads I started lol, it' would ave you a hell of alot of time

I'll post the ones that have to do with my business in here.... but you could learn alot in general about what I've been though, in particular my stubbornness to get over my old oneitis, because she was just "that damn hot"..and she's still very easy on the eyes... but i'm well past that... lol, WELL past that.

Actually.. I want to take the time to apologize. I've sprinkled bits and peices of it in different places but I never just came out and said "look at me...!!!!!"... most people here who have been here a while just "know"

So I will take the time to explain:

when I was younger.. like 6 years ago younger, 18, I was working in best buy. I was a PC tech (before they were the geek squad). I have always been somewhat of a business person... so every day, literarly, someone would buy a PC because it had a DVD Burner, but that's all they wanted, but to get the DVD burner, they had to get teh 300 dollar Geforce card and the 100 dollar sound card that came with it that they didn't need. Or to get the "music package" they ahd to get the DVD burner and the ATI TV Tuner that they didn't need.. or to be able to go photoshop graphic work, they had to get the 2GB memory PC, but also had to get the 200 dollar Soundblaster card..get where I"m going? Waste of money

So a coworker of mine, who ironically i went to HS with as well.. we came up with an idea... why not just make Custom PC's. Okay. cool. we didn't think much of it... and one day we just started doing it. I put toghter a little site, we started getting some orders... and it was pretty fun. The more we got into it, the more we realized how big the PC industyr was, the more serious we took it.. then we made a business plan. We then made a website. A prospectus.. the next thing you know we had a 500 page website. Then we had VC comaines out of hte blue asking us do we need money. It just kinda... grew. I can't explain it. now I just summed up 2 and a half years in one paragraph and ther wa sa hell of alot in there... a Hell of alot.. but we grew to where we were building 30-40 pc's a day, shipping them, had cusotmer service, etc.. and was literarly growing faster than we could move buildings. We went though 3 buildings in 1 year. On a daily basis there would be $100kish deposited in our business account.. not granted, that's revenue not profit but still.

You are asking. "what happened"... well I will tell you. I love pc's.. but I don't like running a PC company. and I dispised my business partner. he was childish and had a kiddie crush on his assistant who I had to follow him one night who was following her home, peeping in her window seeing who was in there with her. It got to the point where i dreeded going to work. I was working 6 days a week.. making goo dmoney and all.. but i was beat. and it wasn't fun anymore. the last starw was him threating to kick my GF's ass because for some reason I forgot.. I put in my regisnation the next day.. i was done. that was in march of 05. I called the investors who invested in us, who were trying to throw money into the business and told them I wanted OUT, and took the first offer they made... I owned exactly, when it was said and done, 22% of the company... breaking that down even more I owned 770k shares of common stock and 110kish shares of preferred stock.. it was a private company still but the stock was worth something.

So really I didn't "sell the company" i sold all the stock I had in the company.

That's half the story..

the other half is what i did after that. I had a live in GF at the time... and if you look at my posts.. I'm a huge horse racing fan. HUGE. my dream had always been to make a living, a good one, handicapping horses. At then.. 22, i knew more than the avg 22YO did about handicapping.. I wasn't a bad "weekend warrior" handicapper.. but I said you know what.. I have some money in the bank.. let me take some of it.. live off of it for 6 months.. and see what I can do with this dream.. it might work, it might not.. but let's see

worked my ass off, watching races, learning pedigrees, learning just different ****. I took it extremely seriously and treated it like a business. That was in April, by October I had made moret han I made the last 2years salary (85k) combined. And I wasn't anywhere near as good then as I am now.
I don't work anywhere near as hard as I did when I had the company.. I work my ass off.. but it's not as stressful. i work when I want. i haven't een to an actual race in about a month, I'm at a yearling sale buying horses because I want to race and breed them. but I'm going to go start back next week.

last year I worked about 7 months.. I took extended vacations.. I have to, I have ot keep fresh and after taxes I banked over 430k.

and I've made more this year. My biggest score actually came this year.. as far as win bets.. I had Student Council in the Paciffic Classic and I put a lick on him becuase I actually thought he was the best horse in the race.

i could write a book on handicapping, but I won't because I would be taking money out my own pocket.

although I can talk about the computer industry all day long, I don't because I'm that tired of it. the thought of it makes me open up the liquor cabinet.

But and like I posted about 2 weeks ago in another thread, I'm not CLOSE to being where I want to be. I am here at the keeneland sale and I am watching a man worth 12 billion dollars just throw his hand up like he has a string on it, like money isn't an issue because it's not. I saw him ( HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum)spend 6 million dollars in one day alone.

The same man spent over 500 million dollars on horses already racing htis year: Admire moon, Any Given Saturday, Street Sense, Hard Spun, Dibolical and much much more. that's bank.

anyway.. I apologize.. but more times than not people odn't listen to a damn thing you say. it's like I'm talking to myself.

Hey, that's an inspiring story there man. A true "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" tale that people should use as an example. I wish some of these dumb ass kids joining gangs and slangin dope could realize you can make good money and come up in the world without getting yourself into trouble.

Hey, when you started your business, how did you go about learning all the ins and outs of running a business? The boring stuff like accounting, taxes, payrolls, shares, and all the red tape, etc. Did you already have knowledge of this from friends? Did you have a mentor? Or was it just one of those things you sort of learned on your own as you went along?

Before I left town I paid 98 dollars to fill up a fvcking SPORTS CAR. that **** still pisses you off

I wish I was spending $100 to fill up an Aston over spending $100 on my piece of **** Jeep.

You may think you have more problems, but trust me, they're problems most people want to have.

I know that's not what you ment.. I'm black (ovbiously) but I didn't grow up in the hood. Well... when I was little and my mom was in college still I grew up with my grandmom who lived in the HOOD but for the most part I grew up in one of the best upper middle class neighborhoods in arkansas.. no drugs, I could go to school with the door wide open and come home and it would be locked with nothing gone.. actually I think I did that before.

I had a spat with drugs, but that was my being "bored" and finding a new "toy".. nothing to do with the place I grew up in.

reading every book I could get my hands on and hard knocks.

Did you already have knowledge of this from friends?
nope,... just two years of taking CPA exams even though I can't take the actual CPA test itself, reading books like "how stocks work", learning about different types of accounting and why they are benefitial.. people have no idea how much I had tolearn. WhenI was 21 I was literrarly toutoring my two best friends in accounting, which was both their majors. Alot of what I had to learn had nothing to do with computers.. **** I knew about computers before the business.. if anything I feel behind on my "techie" knowledge. when I started my company, I was in the process of building a PC with a RAID 0+1 confieration and had 3 different Operating systems on it... for the hell of it. I knew computers. I didn't know business

Actually, that's to fill up my Lexus.. which is a sports CAr (SC400, it's my everyday car)

you don't wanna know how much it costs to fill up the Martin, you really don't.

actually, assuming gas is about 4 bucks a gallon and I'm on Dead E... it's actually not THAT bad.. I mean it's BAD but it's not Hummer bad.. about 90 bucks.

I've had the Aston Martin almost a year and a half now and it doesn't have 3000 miles on it.. i never drive it. it's too inconvenient. I just can't hop in and go to the trck or hop in and go to Baskin Robins or to blockbuster.. I have to carve out "Aston martin" time.. I'm selling it when i get back.. it's just not worth it. I mean... it's a hell of a car... ovbiously, fast as ****, smooth ride, I've never heard a better sound system in my life and talk about not having to do any work to get a blow job... but My Lexus is just as clean..w ellnot JuST as clean but a sclean as a 7 year old Sports car can be and no woman has ever told me 'You know.. this 40k lexus just doesn't do it for me, you need to step your whip game up"

not to mention all the little fast and the furious ****ers that want to rim their engines at you everytime you hit a stop light.. man get that power wheel out of here, i'm not even going to waste my time.

anyway..

BB thanks for stealing my thread and putting a bunch of dreams in my head. It'll take a good week and a half before I get back to reality after reading all that.

And lmao at the handicapped horses.

agreed.

and yes i have done a search from his username. way too many posts, and obviously all of his "advice"/brags are in other peoples' threads... which makes it a ton harder to find anything useful.

you are what you think about. if all you want to think about me being successful, then you are not bringing anything positive in your life.

what are you mad because I did something with my life? my gosh, get one yourself.

with that said, I"m damned if a I do, I'm damned if I don't. and what's sad is you are older than I am. yet you are acting like a damn baby.

I hate to be so rude, but I have nothing to do with where anyone is but myself. I get pissy when people get mad when I try help someone, offer some advice...

it's so ****ed up bercause I can't deseribe **** that goes on in a normal day without "oh he's bragging" and "so what man!!!! what are you trying to say!!!"

yet the guy that works at the local retail store that is trying to game this girl that works there gets all the pats on the back in the world.

Again, you are what you think. if you want to be successful, think successful thoughts. if you want to limit yourself to working retail, all you have to do is think that you can't do anything better. It's the law of attraciton at work.
