Boyish or manly, which do women prefer?

I'm a bit confused. We all know women like men to be 'manly', but you often hear that women want to 'mother' some men and that they are attracted to the 'little boy lost' thing.

Is this latter type of man AFC or can he be a DJ?

The reason I ask is that at 5'7", 135 lbs and a 'pretty' face (think Michael J Fox) I don't think I really come across as all that 'manly', although I avoid acting AFC.

Should I play up the 'boyish' or the 'mannish' side?

1-be you, with DJ techniques, obviously dont start looking for fights or being gay (boyish can almost be gay in my book).

2-fake it til you make it. whatever you chose.

3- get your butt in the gym, follow the guides, put on some meat and be something closer to the ultimate DJ (for me is 007).

You're almost in the same boat as I am, except I have hazel eyes ( a big plus with the women) and am about 140 since I started to slowly bulk up. Work to improve your negative features and enhance your positive features. What I mean by that is- if you think you're too skinny, bulk up. If you have a pretty boy type face, keep it clean and keep your teeth white and bright. Also, you can act like a man or alpha male, your height and weight don't affect that too much. It's all a confidence game. If you truly think you are awesome like hell, you will unconciously exude such a prescense.

What your not hearing is that they want a real man whom they can mother...a real man who will show a little boy inside every now and then opens up their hearts..

Yeah, I'm 6'2" and 136 pounds (if my calculations are right that is, Metric > Imperial) but I look bigger than that, at least not like a toothpick. Apparently I've got some sort of pretty face (that's what girls have said about me), so I'm not really built like a man, I don't have big muscles or anything, you know. Do women base it on appearance or attitude when judging if a guy's a 'man' or a 'boy'?

Manly is not a look. You can't buy it at the mall, you can't order it off ebay, you can't get it from a membership at the gym. You don't inherit it from your grandpa. Manliness is in the way you handle yourself, others, and situations that you encounter. The point: quit worrying about looking like a man and BE a man.

BOYS= LJBF, insecure, irresponsible, not to smart, make us feel like the boss.

MEN=Power, sexy, in control, make us feel protected and all warm & fuzzy.

(And Throughbred is right, My next door neigbor, Roger, is 6 feet tall and nearly 200 pounds of beautifully sculpted muscle.....so is his BOYFRIEND)

Austin Allegro I am inclined to take the view that girls prefer masculine men at least during college years, and at my university always go for the masculine looking guys. Pretty boy looks, or boyish looking, do not seem to have the same effect on them.

However when you get a bit older, your boyish, pretty boy looks will translate into a youthfullness, that will make you irresisteble to women, and allow you to pull women half your age when you are 40.

I would definitely recommend working out though. I used to be around 160lbs at 6 foot, and am now 200lbs at 6 feet, and it has made a world of a difference. I still look boyish, but my muscle and physique suggest others, so you create a series of paradoxes that will intrigue women (this can be amplified if you learn to act manly while still showing signs of boyishness and youthful exuberance)

Dude, if you bulked up to about 150 pounds at least, you would be looking much more manly, regardless of your boy-ish face. I have a slightly boy-ish face too, but I work out, and it balances out nicely.

Atleast around here being handsom = being hot and being hot = completeness of the image of the man as in clothing, hair, face, muscles etc... So do your best to be allround great =)

Even though a virile appearance is important for initial physical attraction, the real importance of your question should be concerned with character and attitude when it some to 'manlyness' and 'boyishness'.

When I talk about 'boyishness' I mean: PLAYFUL. It's that grade school mentality, not an AFC perspective. TEASING, that 'playfighting'. In fact quite literally sometimes; I remember a few months back I was seeing this woman--which on a few occassions--we'd find ourselves wrestling. Over something trivial, like picking a CD. It would start with teasing, and suddenly it's right out physical and aggressive. Of course she couldn't overpower me, so she bite me, and I decided to let go. "Wow! Someone's mad." "NO." Pout, pout, pout. Not a minute later: heaving petting and licking, clothes coming off. Bizarre, huh?

As far as the 'mother-frame'. It's not meant to be taken literally--well sort of--same thing, but with a sexual energy intertwined. Breast-sucking and nibbling; nurture, you know? I've had some interesting experiences when I play 'mommy's naughty little boy'.

I don't think bulking up necessarily means you will be more manly, well at least if you are not a stick. Like I said some guys are huge, but they act really gay and are big time fairies.

It is because of how you act, that is what determines it. Some guys were raised only by women so they act like women.

If you are tall, I think that makes you look more manly than actual mass. I'm 6'3 and I am somewhat slim but in shape. I do have a babyface, so I look younger than my age. I think that my height and the fact that I have broad shoulders more than makes up for it though.

I would disagree. Working out and building muscle makes you look a lot more manly. Broad shoulders, a broad back, thick legs-these all give an image of strength and power, which makes it a lot easier to attract women. Also as Pook described, working out can result in some mental transformations, due to the increased testosterone and the sheer mental aggression you learn through lifting heavy weights.
