A couple things:

Lay down flat, raise legs 6 inches off the ground. You can either hold them straight out for xx seconds or you can do the scissors with your legs.

If you have a pull up bar and some hanging supports for your elbows, keep legs straight and bring them up to a parallel position in relation to the ground. Bring them back down slowly.

There's no such thing as bottom abs. There's one muscle you're talking about, the rectus abdominus. The reason you're probably having a harder time with the lower heads of the muscle is because fat tends to accumulate around your natural waist instead of evenly covering your abdomen.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

I've been having the same problem, top abs are looking like a wall of bricks but the lower part still hasn't come along.

Okay, so you say 'Do some research.' Where the hell do I find information like this? What kind of steps would I have to take to get to the right information on this because I usually haven't a clue where to look.

If you can clearly see the top part of the muscle but the bottom is lacking, then you need to lose some fat. There's no way to target one part of a muscle; the rectus abdominus is no different.

The fat in your lower abs is the hardest to lose.

It's not so much as a matter of doing ab exercises as it is losing the fat in your lower abs.

really? i wouldn't of said i have any fat there, i can't really pinch at any.

the one thing i was thinking, is thats where your stomach and bladder are down there, so it seems as if they push the abs out????

I know what you mean, I'm pretty trim myself and I still have a hard time with the lower part of the abs. But the kind of BF levels you need to really see them are in the 8% range, which is bordering on superhuman.

there are two different abs groups that require two different exercises. the upper abs are worked through situps. the lower ones through leg raises

low bf% is required to see them, but lower ab exercises are also essential.

i've had the same bf% for a while now and its only over the last 6months that i've developed my lower abs through leg raises and it's only now that they're visible

There is only one muscle, the rectus abdominus.

Some parts of the muscle are harder to stimulate, and require multiple exercises to stimulate the most fibers possible. This is why you need different exercises for the pecs also.

Well poke it. Is it fat, or is it because it isn't developed?

If it isn't developed, then any of the advice in the thread here will help. If it's fat, then start cutting up.

I take it that you have fat still hanging around the lower ab part of your body. Exercising it will do absolutely nothing to make that part of your abs show. It has more to do with your diet and giving your body time to lose the fat around that region. In most people, that area is the last to go.

No such thing as lower or bottom abs

The ab is 1 long muscle. Hanging leg raises are best IMO

I know it is true that the abdominal is one long muscle but why are they are so often reffered to as "abs" instead of just "ab?" You don't say "exercise your hearts," for example. I think some of the confusion comes from this.
