We always talk about a man looking his best in order to help attract women. We talk a lot about the gym and clothing, but I thought Id bring up grooming the body. I was looking at some old threads and thought to bring things up. I have three main things I focus on;

1. Facial hair. As a black man with very curly hair, I suffer from ingrown hairs if I dont stay on top of my facial hair. My options to avoid ingrown hairs is to grow a beard, or to trim my beard down to a fine stubble. I like looking youthful so I prefer not to have a beard. But I cannot rock a baby butt smooth chin because the very curly hair will grow right into the skin and become a painful and unsightly bump. I use Andis trimmers that trim very close to the skin, but not too close. Theres just enough hair freely sticking out of the follicle. And thanks to my darker skin tone, I can appear to be close to clean shaven, despite down being exactly there.

I still get the odd ingrown here or there, but they are milder than if I did a razor shave (which I never do anymore). I still have to hawk-eye my face during the weak and lift any hairs that try to curl down into the skin. Tweezers, a needle and boar brush are very helpful tools. Brothers already know about all these tricks, but for dudes who dont already know the drill, get yourself some trimmers and a boar brush. Its also important to wash your face twice daily, in order to make your facial hair more manageable (and if you battle with acne like I do, washing twice is a must)

2. Body hair. I have an average amount of chest, armpit, arm, leg, and pubic hair. I have no backhair really (thankfully). I find most women enjoy a guy who trims down body hair. So I have a trimmer just for my body and I trim down my armpit pits and pubes if I wanna look my best in the bed room (not bald...just take the hair down a bit). Sometimes I also completely remove chest hair so my muscle tone shows through nicely. Never had any complaints.

Also, regarding arm and leg hair, I never really touch that. Luckily I dont have Robin Williams or your average Indian guys type of hair growth lol. However, on certain beach days I may buzz the legs to show off dem quads lol. However, for the most part, I really only ever pay attention to pubes and underarms since women tend to appreciate manscaping those areas and getting cleaned up a bit.

3. Hands and feet. This is the area I have problems with and could use advice. My hands arent much a problem, but my feet kinda are. Playing bass and guitar has given my calluses on my fingertips. While lifting weights, the gripping has given me calluses where my fingers meet my palms. Those peel even when I wear lifting gloves...so I tend to peel the lil bits of skin off and then buff the area. Regarding fingernails, I just keep em trimmed while also cutting cutting hails, and filing rough cuticles. Sounds lame, but my hands would look like sh!t if I didnt do any of this.

Now my feet, Ill be honest and say they are fvking ugly. Ugly too the point that if I dont stay on top of them, girls would definitely notice and be put off. Chicks noticed when I was a teenager, so Ive always been mindful of them. My big toes have rough, hard skin on their knuckles, that I have to buff so Its not that noticeable. And the nails on all my toes are very hard and not as pink as my fingernails (they come in noticeably darker) Also, my nails are rough, scaly, and dry where the nails meet my cuticle and toes.

Like once a month, after cutting my toenails, Ill sit down for like 20 minutes using the file on my clippers to try and smooth out the roughness on my nails and big toe knuckes. I guess I gotta outright ask....for a dude with legit ugly feet...is it worth getting a pedicure once to get all the nasty sh!t off. I figure after that I can stay on top of it myself. You should see my feet when I forget to do anything to em for a few weeks. Sh!ts not pretty.

Recently shaved my chest and stomach. I don't recommend this...lots of ingrown hair, hair grows back quickly etc. Wax instead.
Using an electric hair clipper I groom the hair my the balls and d1ck.

I don't think body grooming is as important for a man. As long as you keep yourself relatively clean thats all you need. Your style in clothes etc play a much bigger role. Besides, surely a woman does not want to be dating a dude that is going to spend as much time in the bathroom as she is.

As far as acne is concerned, NEVER put tap water on your face, especially if you don't have a water softener. I started buying a gallon of distilled water to wash my face with. That stuff is holy water, my acne decreased dramatically since I started using it.

I really don't do much besides the basics when it comes to grooming. I can't grow a beard besides the goatee area so I trim that every now and then. I don't trim anywhere else, my girl doesn't care how hairy I am down there and hair growth is pretty light everywhere else. Trimming nails is part of the basics but especially important if you're fingering chicks. You don't wanna slice a girl up in such a sensitive area. I've seen a few dudes with nasty ass feet lol. If they're that bad then there's no shame in getting a pedicure every now and then.

My potna, "THE INSECT," suffers from this same problem. What he does is give his face a hot towel treatment to opened up his pores. Then he applies this chalky sh*t to face and lets that sit for about twenty minutes. After that, he shaves. The regime is time intensive, but he is able to use a razor.

Being that ole Rex gets razor bumps also, I tried THE INSECT'S method, but it didn't work for me, so I'm relegated to using the same brand of clippers that you use. Personally, I would want to be shave with a razor because I'd like to learn how to use a straight razor. The sh*t just seems hella cool. Also, Jaylan don't forget to have you clippers sharpen every six months and apply the oil after usage for maintenance purposes.

You might want to consider get facials to REALLY get that dirt and sh*t out of your pores, playboy.

Again, THE INSECT, says to do this, but the sh*t is just hella gay. However, Ya boy did used to comb his pubes for nicely pube 'fro, but I had to stop that sh*t because the I would pull hair out of the area and when it grew back it would end up as an ingrown hair.

For those calluses use a pumice stone. Pumice stones are available at any drug store, (Walgreens, CVS, Duane Reade etc.) They're located in the section of the store that has nail files, nail clippers, and all of that of sh*t. You can get either one of these,

http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/re...9161&sst=62d70efa-013c-0ee8-4ba1-00003ad63d9d

Natural pumice stone. and the rock is pronounced "pum is" with a long "u," on the pumice. Rex has a thing about having soft skin, the rationale being, if Rex wasn't want a chick with alligator hands touching him, it's only logical that the chick would feel likewise. With that being said, I use my pumice stone one day when I shower over my entire body.

 Rex just has to laugh, because out everybody who posts on this board, I would think that you would be one of the who would be going to get manicures and pedicures on the reg, if only to have access to the chicks that would be in the nail salon.

But to answer your question, HELL YES it's legit for a man to get manicures and pedicures if only from a standpoint of cleanliness and hygiene Dead skin is constantly accumulating on your hands and feet and should be removed. Now as it pertains to you and your particular situation, you definitely should be going because you seem to have feet issues. Here's some advice before you go.

1) Make Sure That the Place is Clean.

After all you don't want to end up with a foot fungus because the equipment wasn't sterilized.

2) Invest in One of These,

http://www.szprice.com/product_images/t/8_in_1_stainless_steel_nail_clippers_kit7__40428.jpg

That's a kit nail and it has damn all of tools (with the exception of the nail file,) that Asian chick will need to work on your hands and feet. When you find that nail salon you want to patronize, give the chick your kit and she'll put it in a drawer marked, "Jaylan," and those tools will only be used your hands and feet.

3) Find a Spot with Hot Chicks

If you're going to be in business where the primary clientele are females, why not it as an opportunity to holla at them?

Start going to the nail salon and give it about a two or three months to see if your condition clears up. If you don't see a change after the end of month three, schedule an appointment with a podiatrist.

Yes it is bruh. This isn't one of those things that you're doing for the chick per se, but as part as your overall maintenance and hygiene regime. The hygiene regime is kinda like sending a "thank you," card after a job interview meaning that it's meant to set you a part from the crowd. Male grooming subtly sends the chick the message that (most importantly,) your clean and you pay attention to detail. Also, this can be used as an opener and rapport building.

What I do is try to take a bath at least twice a week. I don't know if it's psychological, but I just feel cleaner after sitting in the tub and ya boy has designated bath nights, (Sunday and Wednesday,)

^REX,

1. Good looking out on the shave tips. I was wondering why Ive been getting pissed at my clippers lately. I realized I never oil them like I used to a long while back. I gotta stay on top of that.

2. Lolol @ pube fro. Ive down that a couple times. Now I just pubes down to the length you see your average goatee. Never too close, because like you said, ingrowns are a b!tch down there.

3. I feel you on the pumice stone. Ive used my grandma's a few times back when I was younger. It did a decent job of getting rid of dead skin. Dunno why I never bought one for myself. And about the nail clipper set....I actually remember my dad telling me to get one as a teenager. He told me itd last me for years and its helpful for professional life, and with women. I shoulda listened.

4. Actually, I may do a bath once a week. Baths always made it so I was able to scrub dead skin right off my feet easily. Dunno if Ill actually make it into any nail salon. Im not that brave yet. Ill see what I can manage at home for now.

Yeah Andis also makes the oil lubricant for the clippers.

Also, don't sleep on having the blades sharpen if you haven't already. I usually take mine in every six months and since I've had the clippers for a minute, I'll ask the dude at the barber supply shop if the blades need replacing. Oh, by the way, that's where you take your clippers for sharpening, to your local barber supply.

Get these items, dude. You'll be glad you did.

Listen, mayne I felt the same way that you did. Rex thought that the sh*t was hella gay, then I saw "American Pimp," and Kenny Red mentioned that he went to nail salon to have his hands and feet worked on. Also, Suge Knight said that the first thing he did when he got out of the pen was have manicure to get all of that dead skin of his fingers. If a pimp and a gangsta/record executive can get a manicure and pedicure, surely can. Besides, when this is being done,

by some cute, "Hello Kitty," looking Asian chick, any and all feelings of gayness is quickly alleviated.

Great thread Jaylan, it's the little things like grooming that make a big difference.

1. Facial Hair

Like a lot of white dudes these days I'm a bit of a facial hair mixer. During the warmer months I usually wear very light stubble, as if I shaved a day or two before. I just use my trusty beard trimmer with no guard, usually gets it short enough. During the fall/winter season I grow a nice beard. Last year was the first time I grew one and I was a little nervous to see how it would look. Response from the ladies? OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE! Honestly I look forward to fall again

2. Body Hair

Though my ancestry would suggest otherwise I know I'm at least SOME Italian because boy I'll tell you I'm one hairy chested SOB. Now it's not too thick but it's definitely there. I used to trim it because I thought that's what women liked, don't get me wrong many of them do, but I found that each women is different so it's a crap shoot really. I don't trim it anymore because I just do what I like now, screw the chicks.

But my back hair is a different story. I do have back hair, not a sweater or anything but I hate it so I shave it. It's a very sloppy affair though. I usually (not even joking) duct tape my beard trimmer to a drum stick and use that to get the hair off. Until I can get laser treatment I would gladly pay someone to trim me up once a month, any takers???

3. Feet and hands.

This is just a part of my skin care routine overall, just lotion up. I have some rough cracked heels that can scratch a chick up real quick under the sheets. No bueno.

I grow a thick beard in my mid 20s, so I rock that. I have a diamond shaped face and the beard gives me a blockier face. Keep my cheek bones (some rogue hair) and neck shaved. Give it a 10 min trim most every day and then use a bit of product to smooth it out.

Can't even describe how much a difference a beard can make. Hooked up with a chick a few weeks ago. next morning she sees what I look like clean shaven on my ID and said she probably wouldn't have talked to me otherwise. Haha. Got a chick who asks for snapchats of my beard semi-regularly.

Crazy how much a diff facial hair can make.

Facial Hair

I grow quite a bit and go every 2 weeks to my stylist to get it trimmed and styled accordingly to my haircut, which i also go every 2 weeks to get. Having a beard puts me in age bracket of 25-30. Never have been asked for ID at any club.

Body Hair

The same as facial hair. I grow quite a bit and constantly have to trim, shave or wax. It is easily manageable since i am constantly on top of it.

Hands & Feet

I have calluses on my hands and i have to put lotion as well as use a pumice stone for them. All from the gym. Other than the calluses, i have very smooth hands. I have smooth feet as well. No cracks or anything. I'm with Rex on the pedicure. It leaves your feet looking very smooth and nice. I'm also going to suggest a manicure. They are one of the things people notice right away. Nails being bitten, dead skin, etc. I always get a manicure when i go get a haircut. It leaves them spotless.

I Forgot to Add...

Jaylan, I for to add that if you do go to a nail salon, they have this treatment for removing calluses where the Asian chick will put either oil or lotion on your feet, then wrap them in saran wrap. They'll leave for about five minutes and when they come and remove saran wrap from your feet, they'll be as smooth as a baby's :moon: For the meantime you should invest in a callus remover.

http://www.dhresource.com/albu_284075539_00-1.0x0/pedicure-file-callus-remover-shaver-tool.jpg

Use it after a bath or soaking your feet by running it the callused area of your feet. Be careful though, there is a razor in there.

Im still gonna hold off on the salon for now and try things out at home. Also, for some reason I have it in my head that the chicks may hurt my hands or feet by scrubbing too hard and fcking up with the cuticle cutter.

Then again, Im not the best at preventing pain myself lol

Anyways, thanks for all the tips. I just picked up a pumice stone for the store today. I dunno if Ill fvk with a huge ass callus remover though. Im not trying to lose a toe haha. Ill rock the pumice stone and maybe one of those grated callus scrapers for now.

And I just bought some cocoa butter lotion (palmers of course) to moisturize my hands and feet. Thats a big thing Ive overlooked for a while. I never lotion my feet. Time to start.

Personally I consider myself metro and I don't give a fvk. I get manicures & pedicures & and my eyebrows done. 99% of guys that go to the gym and are in great shape have almost no body hair. The only thing I won't do is shave my legs....but I am tatted up to so my ink looks better when I have less hair, the color pops more, muscles pop more.

I say for each there own. I personally like my slicked back longer hair, with a nice fade on the sides and back. Clean shaved face, tats showing, eyebrows, and hands looking clean.

I get a lot of compliments from women I smash on how they love how I take care of my body, how most men have nose hair coming out there damn nose and how they are overly hairy. lol..

Just my 2 cents.

Props on the confidence. Though its certainly different for a guy to get eyebrows done, I can see why a guy whos got bushy brows might do it. Then again, if youve read my posts so far, youd see Im much more for the DIY route. Couldnt you just shape things up with a trimmer? Or even a disposable razor? Im all about saving a buck lol. However, I dont have a huge amount of body hair or facial hair, so DIY is easy for me.

Anyways, I think your attitude, tattoos, and physique balance out any possible negative effects being "metro" might have. Usually when people rag on metro guys, they are thinking of smaller dudes who arent the most masculine. So I can see why a chick would actually appreciate all those metro things on a guy she wants to shag.

And seriously, look at club bros, or your Jersey Shore type dudes. Tanned, perfect hair, eyebrows, nails and eyebrows cleaned up, and usually in good shape and tatted. And a good portion of these guys are quick to fight too. Id say these dudes are metro, but not the kind of guys people think of right away when talking about metros.

Heck, I wont lie. I used to think those type of guys were odd, especially when Jersey Shore ended up on TV. I thought they were being over the top with caring about their appearance and being somewhat conceited. But heck, they do get tons of tail thrown at em...so I cant hate.

Keep the pumice stone in the shower, and use it towards the end. It works a lot better after your skin has soaked up water to soften the callouses.

My manicure kit is a pair of clippers, a cheap emery board file, and a pocket knife. It's nice to have a quality knife. Mine is a Buck - http://www.buckknives.com/ - use the knife to push back your cuticles, the skin that grows down over the top of your nail, then clip it off. Letting it grow over the end of the nail is what causes ingrown nails. It happens on the little toe the easiest. The knife is also good for scraping any dirt out from under the nails. I got in the habit in jiu-jitsu of keeping my nails trimmed down to nothing; you really don't want a nail to catch on anything and rip off.

The nail file is an absolute essential for any hand that's going to touch a vagina, which is the only reason I use it. It's kind of funny that filing your nails has an image of a pvssy thing to be doing, yet the point to me is to do it because you are getting pvssy.

I also have a few patches of psoriasis or eczema, whatever it is, and I'm going to try soaking in a bath with apple cider vinegar. I think the acidity will kill whatever bad stuff is growing on skin.
