it's a good movie. based on a true store about michael oher.

i'm not going t ruin the story, very good story about a guy that went through things you coudln't imagine and like wise was given an opprtounty that few are ever given and made the most of it.

very good movie. will win awards next year.

Im usually not a fan of Sandra Bullock...her movies are usually a little too girly for me, but this one looks interesting. Its one that will gain her a new audience that usually wouldn't go see her movies. Sorta reminds me of when Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan did movies together.

I loved the preview, it looks really inspirational. I will go watch it later.

6.0 4 star is pretty fvcking high. top 100 player in country high.

with that said, the word is he wanted to go to LSU, but saban at the time could not tell him he would be there in the future, so he committed to ole miss.

i'm sure they were ole miss fans too.

This film is blatant propoganda. The whole reason that family adopted him is because they were Ole Miss fans and saw a potential offensive lineman to add to the lineup. Had it been any other kid from the streets they wouldn't have lifted a finger.

Saw the movie for the 2nd time today. I know Hollywood likes to twist things around to make an interesting movie. I was thinking the same thing too. They address the issue in the movie when Michael is talking to the NCAA lady.

But why would they adopt him and do all these good things for him just so they can get him to go to the school they love? They didnt need to adopt him but they did.

Sean Tuohy was an Ole Miss grad (played hoops there), and "adopted" Oher (& later added him to his will) to ensure he went to Ole Miss. Tuohy is one of the best basketball players in Ole Miss history & wanted the "afflete" (who'd failed 2 grades & had a crackhead Momma) to play for the Rebels.

Oher also cheated on some of the famous "Mormon grade grab" online classes from BYU, and magically improved his high school GPA by 2 full points within a matter of weeks. It was a 0.6 early in high school.

FYI, there was a White HS football coach in Durham that took in a sumo from Richmond, VA (housed him and fed him for a couple years) and, of course, put him on his football team. The sumo's background was the typical story of a black single mammy with several kids that didn't really give a crap about motherhood.

I'm NOT cool at all with what the coach did (took resources away from his own family), but most of these stories have a "self-interest" aspect to it.

Whether it was for their own self interests or not, would you not agree that they gave these kids a chance to reach their potential and do positive things they would never have gotten a chance to do had they not been helped?

Michael Oher went on to the NFL with a 5-year 15 million dollar contract. He could be dead right now. I don't think he would have went so far if he really didn't want to play...

I agree. Even if it was a purely selfish reason, the fact remains that Michael got a chance that made his life better. He has a great career, money and is in the golden position TO HELP OTHER YOUNG MEN LIKE HIMSELF!

Actually, the word here is that he stayed with the family for 8 months, but he was already living with someone and enrolled in the same high school when they took him in. Doesn't make for such a good movie, does it? But it's not important to me since I'm not getting any money.
