Not a credible source? Huffington Post accurately reported that there is no credible evidence of a Benghazi cover up that the Conservative media including Fox News and Attkisson was lying about for 2 years. This is confirmed in the House Intelligence Report that just came out. Also, Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake was on NBC's "Meet The Press" discussing the events telling Republicans not to pursue anymore hearings. Huffington Post accurately described that in the article unlike FOX News who said nothing about it lying about a "cover up" for 2 years.
1. Just because an investigation was closed doesn't mean sources covering it were "lying."
2. A US ambassador died in Benghazi, which is a big deal, and there were inconsistencies in the Administration's handling of it and response to reasonable inquiries. Had the administration been more transparent and forthcoming, instead of the constant stonewalls that have characterized the Obama administration on MANY issues, there would have been no need for a drawn out investigation to begin with.
3. Huffington Post is GARBAGE, with far more bias, lies by omission and shoddy coverage than Fox News or any other RW or nonleft sources.
4. Attkisson is a "confirmed liar" only in your leftist echo chamber. Her history of going after stories regardless of politics is well-documented. The left LOVED her when she was going after Bush Administration issues, and hates her now when their guy is in the WH and she has written a fact-filled book containing many instances of bias in favor of the Obama Administration. Typical of the inconsistent, ignorant left, and similar to the thread topic. The Left loved Cosby until he started going off the plantation, now he must be punished.

The report says that there was no evidence of any cover up that Fox News and Attkisson was lying about for two years. Fox News and the conservative media sold you another lie with their deplorable biased reporting that was set out to only one thing, destroy the President. The administration was more than forthcoming, Darrell Issa had his witch hunt determined to drag on several investigations. Even from the 1st report he knew there was nothing there after he admitted that to Chris Wallace. It was a partisan attempt by the right wing to drag it on until after the elections so conservatives could push a "scandal" on the news every night dropping the President's poll numbers.

George W Bush had over 20 embassy attacks on his watch where many people died. No tedious investigations were ever processed against him and the 'Liberal Media' was silent on those attacks.

http://www.politifact.com/embassyattacks/

Attkisson is a liar for pushing a "scandal" and "cover up" when there was clearly no scandal from the beginning. If she was a 'Liberal", she still wouldn't call it a "cover up" today after the report came out for a 7th time. She has always been a partisan conservative never going after Bush on anything. If she did, all of his scandals would have been in the spotlight instead of being brushed aside. Sounds like you have a thing for her since you can only use her opinion as definite facts for your claims.

The Huffington post accurately reported the factual news of events. Attkisson and Fox news lied to you for two years with their witch hunt of a "scandal".

Can't admit the truth? Every single news station has a news director that provides the anchors with the stories. Did you think the personalities just come in and do the news on their own?
Sinclair Broadcast Group's conservative worldview slowly makes its ... a new approach to the news at WJLA-TV, Washington's ABC affiliate.
Good news, Washington DC -- your own local news channel, ABC 7, has new ownership who is going to turn the station conservative
This was the press release coming from WJLA ABC 7, a Sinclair Broadcasting station, telling it's viewers they are turning the station conservative. They are showing conservative slanted local news to it's viewers at 4, 5, 6, and 11pm at night. The 6:30 pm National News Brodacast that you claim is "left" is shown on every ABC station in the country. The national news is different compared to local news being broadcast. 71% of Americans get their news from local news.

Sinclair Broadcasting is a conservative group like the others I've listed that turned their ABC, CBS, NBC, affiliates into conservative stations, showing conservative local news to it's viewers. The National News and all the station programming of TV shows etc will still be shown on all those networks. It is the local news that is conservative. Sinclair just stated that in their press release to the public that ABC 7 is going conservative like the rest of their 130+ stations they own.

Attkisson and the rest of the right wingers are liars claiming a "Liberal Media". Conservative News still is being slanted locally to it's viewers 3 to 4 times a day locally despite the 6:30 National Broadcast that is required. All of those conservative media groups are buying up local owned stations for that reason.
Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI) and related companies have been buying up local affiliated stations and pushing conservative biased news stories into the local news programs.

Since September of 2011, Sinclair Broadcast Group or their affiliated companies (Cunningham Broadcasting, Deerfield Media) have acquired or obtained a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) for almost one hundred local television stations. According to its website, Sinclair now operates or owns 29 ABC, 26 CBS, and 17 NBC local affiliated stations in addition to 41 Fox and 54 other affiliated stations.
Looks like you ignored that again.

How Fox News' Conservative Message Creeps Into Local News Broadcasts

Across the country, Fox News Channel's conservative misinformation is being broadcast to millions of viewers through local television stations, which are owned and operated by the network's parent company, often without the knowledge of the station's viewers.

Local news stations fall into two categories: "owned and operated stations" whose content is controlled by a network or larger parent company, and "affiliate" stations that are not owned by a central network, and thus do not have to use the network's content. So a local "Fox" station might be entirely independent, or it might be controlled by Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox -- and they do not have to tell viewers which they're watching.

By owning these local stations, Murdoch and 21st Century Fox can push narratives of their choosing onto large local audiences, often running the same news packages and hosting the same personalities that appear on the Fox News cable channel. According to federal communications law, a single company can own any number local stations so long as they collectively reach "no more than 39 percent of all U.S. TV households."

21st Century Fox recently expanded into the San Francisco market, broadening their reach to 37 percent of U.S. television homes. They now own 28 stations in 17 markets.

With 71 percent of Americans getting their news from local channels -- almost double that of cable news networks -- Fox's expansion means that more households will be subject to Fox News' conservative misinformation even if they don't watch the cable news network.

All of your links are biased coming from right wing sources. My links are directly from the source that shows what they own and what they are programming. CBS, NBC, ABC, is showing conservative based news locally to it's viewers for the conservative groups that own the stations. Conservative local news that was in their press release. Can't you read?

Good news, Washington DC -- your own local news channel, ABC 7, has new ownership who is going to turn the station conservative
WJLA is telling you in their press release they are providing their viewers with local conservative news on ABC 7. Are you going to call them liars?

ABC, NBC, CBS Conservative owned stations= Conservative local news broadcasts 4, 5, 6, 11pm, mainstream National News broadcast 6:30, regular programming on network.

ABC, NBC, CBS Liberal owned stations= Liberal local news broadcasts 4, 5, 6, 11pm, mainstream National News broadcast 6:30, regular programming on network.

Conservatives dominate in owning ABC, NBC, CBS stations. The "Liberal Media" is a lie.

Sinclair has done that with all their 130+ stations they own including the other conservative media groups that own the rest of ABC, NBC, CBS stations. There is no "liberal Media" when the majority of CBS, NBC, ABC local news is conservative owned by conservatives. Only the Liberal groups that own their own CBS, ABC, NBC stations have a liberal slant on their local news. Your "Liberal Media" myth is a lie.

Radio has been conservative since the 1980's. Conservative Media Groups own the majority of ABC, CBS, NBC, local stations showing local conservative slanted news despite the 6:30 national Broadcast. I've shown you the press release of Sinclair and all the conservative owned ABC, NBC, CBS, stations that is showing locally conservative based news. You, Attkkison, the rest of the right are liars.

USA Today is a national American daily newspaper published by the Gannett Company
Gannett is a conservative media conglomerate that own 82 newspapers in the country. Other conservative groups own the majority of the top 100 selling papers. Your 80% Liberal myth is an f-ing lie. USA Today is the #1 selling paper that is conservative. They also own all the majority of NBC and CBS affiliates. Conservative owned groups have bought up the majority of papers turning them conservative. I have all the companies with what papers they own that YOU didn't read. All of Gannett's Conservative Newspapers and TV holdings are on their site link. 80% is a myth and a lie just like the "Liberal Media" of Attkkison's myth when conservatives own the majority of the media and advertisements today.
http://www.gannett.com/section/WHOWEARE06

http://www.gannett.com/article/99999999/WHOWEARE/100427016/Our-Company

Gannett’s iconic national brands, such as USA TODAY and CareerBuilder, as well as its unique local brands serving nearly 120 communities, set the company apart and provide a strong brand advantage. Gannett’s properties cover a wide range of geographies, demographics and content areas, which combine to form a uniquely powerful and comprehensive portfolio of offerings for consumers and commercial clients alike.

Gannett owns or services through shared service agreements or other similar agreements 46 television stations. Excluding owner-operators, Gannett is the No. 1 NBC affiliate group; No. 1 CBS affiliate group; and the No. 4 ABC affiliate group. These stations cover 30% of the U.S. population in markets with nearly 35 million households.

Following the acquisition of Belo Corp. in December 2013, Gannett became the largest independent TV station group of major network affiliates in the top 25 U.S. markets, with a strong, diversified portfolio. Each TV station also has a robust digital presence, including mobile, to reach consumers wherever they are.

Overall, Gannett reaches more than 65 million unique visitors monthly or about 29 percent of the U.S. Internet audience via digital platforms, including CareerBuilder.com, USATODAY.com, USA TODAY Sports Digital Properties and digital platforms affiliated with its local media organizations across the country. USA TODAY is one of the most popular news sites and the USA TODAY app is a top news app with more than 19 million downloads to date across iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows and Kindle Fire. USA TODAY mobile traffic continues to grow as monthly visitors are now approximately 24 million.

The company operates 82 U.S. daily publications, including USA TODAY, and 443 non-daily local publications in 30 states and Guam. USA TODAY ranks No. 1 in the industry in total daily circulation, according to the Alliance for Audited Media.

Affiliated digital products of the company’s U.S. publications, including USA TODAY, reach more than 39 million unique visitors monthly. The print products reach more than 10 million readers every weekday and more than 12 million readers every Sunday. Together they provide critical news and information from neighborhoods, the nation and the globe.
One conservative media Giant owning a ton of TV and print media. Do you think they are pushing "Liberal News"?

Every conservative paper out circulates any Liberal paper, the numbers are in the link. Gannett and the other conservative owned companies are buying up the papers, TV, and radio stations adding them to their companies turning them conservative pushing conservatism through all their radio, TV, and print.

There is no "Liberal Media" when conservative owned companies control the majority of the media today.

The fact that it took as long as it did for what should have been a summary investigation wrapped up in a month to be conducted proves me right and you wrong. Sure, Issa dragged it out, not the administration's constant shifty song and dance in the name of politics and polls, whatever you say. Issa didn't claim that a youtube video caused Benghazi, Obama did. Issa didn't waffle on attributing terrorism Obama did. Issa didn't send a functionary around to deflect, Obama did. Attkisson's book is not "the Benghazi Book" and there is no evidence whatsoever of either her or even Fox News "lying." You certainly don't cite any because there is none. A concluded investigation does not a "lie" make, despite how many times you will inevitably repeat the same horsesh-t over and over in future posts.

FYI, regardless of embassy attacks during the Bush administration, whenever a US ambassador dies in the field to enemy fire, which DID NOT HAPPEN during the Bush administration, there will be an investigation conducted and should be one, regardless of what party is in power. It is a very big national security deal as a matter of fact, regardless of how inconvenient it is politically for leftists who govern by poll and childish spin as opposed to adult policy. The left has always been great at getting votes, governance? Not so much.

Oh, Media Matters? Kiss my ass. The reason I ignore certain cutpastes of yours is that instead of quoting the actual text, you blockquote them so they can't be responded to line by biased partisan line. I know full well that you do this because you don't want to link the real partisan garbage sources they come from. Stop doing that if you want more thorough responses.

OTOH, I didn't block cutpaste my links to the lopsided leftist voting patterns and political contribution history of media. Either deal with the specific facts in them or don't, as I know you won't.

20 year career journalists like Goldberg and Attkisson don't just "jump ship" to stir up scandals by writing whistleblower books.

Here you can also deal with my link of the NYT editor admitting bias in the NYT itself... which you have ignored.

You can also deal with the point that a vast majority of the local stations are in Democrat controlled metro areas... which you have ignored.

You can also deal with my convenience store analogy... which you have ignored to blockpost huge, irrelevant textwalls claiming the inanity that just because ownership is corporate or conglomerate means that they broadcast conservative. Non sequitur, the big three programming carried by these stations is all one needs. They may drive Bentleys, but they sell Hyundais to a MASS market of MASS proles mostly in DEMOCRAT cities.

You aren't linking much, you are blockquoting to hide the Media Matters and other garbage leftist sources where your cutpastes come from. I'm not going to go piece by piece trying to answer a blockquote that obviously comes from a garbage source, especially when you conveniently skip over the meat in my posts.

We all already know the left is desperate in its denial of bias as the old regime of leftist media stranglehold collapses and its viewers and readers LEAVE IN DROVES. I don't blame them for this, but it doesn't make the smokescreen true.

Am done with this discussion, and stand by prior posts as mostly unrefuted. Readers should do their own research and not take my word for media bias, decide for themselves. The whole thread topic wouldn't even exist without leftist slant in media. Cosby has been a known ****sman for ages, it's only recently since his inconvenient leaving the plantation, and his threat to get a renewed MSM platform that he must be silenced and crucified. Bias.

Sinclair known for conservative political tilt

Sinclair Broadcast Group, which is buying Seattle-based Fisher Communications, has a history of using its television stations to support its political views

Sinclair Broadcast Group executives said they will bring resources and stability to KOMO TV and 19 other television stations they’ll get by acquiring Seattle-based Fisher Communications.

If Sinclair’s past is any indicator, they may also bring their conservative political leanings, even to one of the most liberal cities in the country.

“The track record of Sinclair suggests that Seattle is about to get a Fox News equivalent in a local television channel,” said David Domke, chair of the University of Washington’s Department of Communication.

Sinclair, which is based in the Baltimore suburbs, has seen huge growth over the past two decades as it has bought dozens of small television stations. As executives have made money, they have often given to conservative political causes.

The company has made that political agenda clear on the air, as well.

Most notoriously, the company ordered its stations to air a documentary critical of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry right before the 2004 election.

For years, Sinclair’s newscasts wrapped up with one-minute editorials hosted by conservative commentator Mark Hyman.

The 2010 and ’12 elections brought other examples of Sinclair’s political activism.

Kirby Wilbur, chairman of the Washington state Republican Party and a longtime radio personality on Fisher station KVI, said a conservative bent could build loyalty among viewers who want their news through a right-leaning lens.

“If they think the numbers tell them that a news station on TV that is a little more slanted to the right would make it more profitable, then they should do that,” he said. “It’s their TV station. We live in a new media world, and TV stations have to innovate to survive.”

Sinclair stations generally report the local news without interference, said Kelly McBride, ethics faculty member at the Poynter Institute, a journalism think tank in St. Petersburg, Fla., a state with four Sinclair-owned stations. “Most of what they do seems just fine,” she said.

Even without the Fisher stations, Sinclair is the largest independent TV broadcaster in the country, according to its website.

It doesn’t typically make huge changes right away by laying off staff or replacing management, McBride said.

But she said the company’s reputation could be “unnerving” for viewers.

“As a consumer, you sort of have to be aware all the time and constantly questioning,” she said.

The company’s top executives are the four sons of Sinclair founder Julian Sinclair Smith.

They have contributed thousands to the Republican National Committee and conservative candidates, even forming a political-action group more than a decade ago to donate to the campaigns of former President George W. Bush and Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, among others.

In 2004, two weeks before the presidential election, Sinclair ordered its television stations to air a documentary sharply critical of Democratic candidate John Kerry’s activism during the Vietnam War.

After an uproar, the stations ended up airing just a few minutes of the documentary, “Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal,” as well as excerpts from a pro-Kerry documentary and interviews with veterans.

The same year, Sinclair blocked the broadcast of a “Nightline” episode about soldiers killed in the Iraq war.

“‘Nightline’ is not reporting news; it is doing nothing more than making a political statement,” Sinclair wrote in a letter explaining the decision. It replaced the broadcast with what it said was a more balanced report.

McBride said the problem with “these questionable pieces that Sinclair has broadcast is there’s no disclosure that says, ‘Hey, this reflects a point of view,’ so the audience is left to figure that out on their own.”

In 2010, several Sinclair stations aired an infomercial about President Obama intended to sway voters in midterm elections. The 25-minute piece, funded by a Republican political-action group, said Obama “displays tendencies some would call socialist” and claimed the president had accepted campaign donations from Middle Eastern terrorist organizations.

In 2012, on the Monday before the election, viewers in some swing states found their nightly news or other programs replaced on Sinclair channels by an “election special” produced by Sinclair that was biased against Democrats.

Peter Laufer, a longtime NBC News broadcaster and professor at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications, said Sinclair isn’t alone in promoting a political viewpoint.

“The trend in our news media nationally is to move from providing a public service ... and instead engage in what can easily be identified as political propaganda,” he said.

“Whether one thinks it’s appropriate or not for a company to engage in that kind of activity is open to debate, but what’s critical is that the community that is served by this station is aware.”

Conservative television group purchases KSNV-Channel 3

The rumor at the time of the death of KSNV-Channel 3 owner Jim Rogers was that conservative Sinclair Broadcast Group might buy the station and turn its editorial policy 180-degrees and spell trouble for its stable of liberal pundits.

Today the Baltimore company announced it has purchased the NBC affiliate for $120 million.

“We are pleased to add KSNV to our portfolio,” the press release quoted Steve Pruett, co-chief operating officer of Sinclair’s television group as saying. “With the addition of the station, our news footprint will cover all the major cities in the state of Nevada, allowing us to be a leading provider of local and regional news.”

Note the immediate reference to the news footprint.

The left-wing MediaMatters compiled a litany of conservative deeds by the group, saying “Sinclair has used its stations to promote a conservative, anti-progressive message.”

Its newscasts often include editorials by conservative commentator Mark Hyman. The stations supported Mitt Romney. In 2010 they ran a 25-minute piece that said Obama “displays tendencies some would call socialist.”

KSNV liberal pundit Jon Ralston, a defrocked newspaper columnist, is already hinting at things to come, saying in his morning email: “Big news in the TV (and my) world this morning. Sinclair has purchased KSNV, which means the huge company now owns the two major NBC outlets in Nevada. Sinclair has conservative owners, a dramatic change from the Jim Rogers days.”

The sale is expected to be completed in first quarter of 2015.

Report: Conservative radio, TV host to run WEYI NBC25

CLIO, MI — Conservative pundit, author, radio personality and TV host Armstrong Williams will be running Clio-based NBC affiliate WEYI, after making a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group, according to a report from TVNewsCheck.

Sinclair recently announced their purchase of Barrington Broadcasting Group, pending closing conditions. Barrington currently owns WEYI, as well as WBSF, which both broadcast to a region containing Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland.

The report by TVNewsCheck states that Williams recently formed Howard Shirk Holdings LLC, which will operate WEYI, along with a TV station in South Carolina.

Sinclair already operates WSMH, a fox affiliate, within the same market as WEYI.

A proxy of Sinclair will be purchasing WBSF - a CW affiliate.

WEYI has been on the air since 1953, with Barrington ownership taking effect in 2004. WBSF has been on the air since September 2006.

St. Paul's Hubbard Radio buys 16 more stations, all in Minnesota

Hubbard Radio just keeps getting bigger.

The St. Paul-based company announced Thursday that it has entered an asset purchase agreement to buy 16 radio stations from Omni Broadcasting Company. The stations are in Alexandria, Bemidji, Brainerd and Wadena, strengthening Hubbard's presence in Minnesota.

"Hubbard Broadcasting is deeply committed to local radio and to Minnesota," said Ginny Morris, CEO of Hubbard Radio. "This is a great opportunity to expand the company's presence into some wonderful local communities."

The acquistion involves 100 employees.

As part of the deal, Dan Seeman, vice president and market manager for Hubbard RadioMinneapolis-St. Paul will expand his role as regional manager for all of Hubbard's state-wide radio operations.

This is a relatively minor deal for a company that has gone all in on radio in recent years. In 2013, Hubbard bought 10 radio stations from Sandusky Radio for $85.5 million. Three years ago, the company closed a $505 million purchase of 17 stations, including WTOP-AM in Washington DC., one of the country's most profitable stations.

The company now owns 46 stations across the country, including KSTP (1500 AM), KS95-FM and 107.1 FM.

Sinclair acquiring Fisher Communications

SEATTLE -- Sinclair Broadcast Group is acquiring Fisher Communications for about $373 million.

The deal was announced Thursday by Sinclair, which is based in Hunt Valley, Md., and Fisher, which is based in Seattle. Fisher announced in January it was considering options for shareholders.

Fisher owns 20 television stations in eight markets reaching 4 percent of U.S. households with TVs. They include KOMO in Seattle, KIMA and KEPR in Yakima and the Tri-Cities, KATU in Portland, KVAL in Eugene, KCBY in Coos Bay, Ore., KPIC in Roseburg, Ore., KBOI in Boise, KLEW in Lewiston, Idaho, and KBAK/KBFX in Bakersfield, Calif. The sale also covers Fisher radio stations in Seattle, including KOMO, KPLZ and KVI.

"We are excited to acquire Fisher and expand our coverage westward," said Sinclair President and CEO David Smith.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fisher shareholders will receive $41.00 in cash for each share of Fisher common stock.

"Sinclair is the largest independent TV broadcaster in the country, and we believe its commitment to the industry along with its greater scale and sizable resources will provide our stations, team members and business partners with new opportunities to flourish," said Colleen Brown, Fisher's President and CEO.

After the acquisition Sinclair will own or operate 134 television stations in 69 markets reaching about 34 percent of U.S. TV households.

KATV's new owner takes D.C. station on right turn

A Washington Post article brings news about a new media player in Little Rock that will bear watching in the days ahead. By Paul Fahri:

There’s a new owner and a new approach to the news at WJLA-TV, Washington’s ABC affiliate. Under the direction of its ambitious corporate parent, the station’s news operations have taken a subtle but noticeable turn to the right.

Last week, for example, WJLA viewers woke up to a new face on the morning news: Mark Hyman, a veteran conservative pundit, who offered some criticism of President Obama.

In his video commentary, Hyman railed against the inconsistent enforcement of a ban on travel to Cuba by Americans. Noting that the music stars Jay Z and Beyoncé had “partied up” in Havana last year without penalty, Hyman insinuated that Obama had protected the couple from prosecution.

WJLA is one of 64 stations now owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which recently completed its purchased of ABC affiliate KATV in Little Rock. Sinclair's right-wing tilt is old news in the media business. In Washington, WJLA is also partnering with the conservative Washington Times on a weekly report on government waste. It is featuring reports, too, from the Sinclair Washington bureau, peppered with critical reporting on President Obama and information from conservative D.C. think tanks.

Here's a rundown from critic Media Matters on some past Sinclair political broadcasting.

Sinclair purchased KATV and other stations from Allbritton, an ownership that featured a bit of political involvement of its own when the station general manager did an on-air endorsement of George W. Bush in the 2000 general election.

There it is, blatant conservative biased news on ABC. I'm sure old Armstrong and his conservative pals at Sinclair are going to push "Liberal Local News" to the viewers in Liberal cities when they run conservative commentaries on their ABC, CBS, NBC affiliates.

There is no "Liberal Media" when conservatives are buying up the stations pushing conservative News on ABC, CBS. NBC affiliates. Going to argue with that?

Those stations are ALL in large, democrat controlled cities, and their programming reflects their audience... just like any other media.

You can also deal with the point that a vast majority of the local stations are in Democrat controlled metro areas... which you have ignored.

80%+ of the top circulation newspapers are left biased for the same reason the networks are, they service large, metro DEMOCRAT audiences.

I just showed you the most Liberal city in the country Washington DC has a conservative ABC news station. Why are you denying it?

I believe you are citing that myth from Atkisson's book of lies who is skewing the facts. Your convenience store analogy is wrong as well. I've already showed you what conservative corporations own which news papers tv stations, if you bothered to look at the links you could see that. Why do you still want to deny it? If you did your own fact checking, the facts will show her to be a liar again.

Let's look at the facts rather than the myths ok? Conservative radio dominates every Liberal market .

Los Angeles Radio: 5 Conservative stations, 0 Liberal stations.
San Francisco Radio: 4 conservative stations, 0 Liberal stations
Seattle Radio: 3 Conservative stations, 0 Liberal stations
New York Radio: 3 Conservative stations, 0 Liberal stations

The most Liberal cities in the country have 0 Liberal radio after Conservative Media corporations bought them and turned them conservative.

Sinclair Broadcast Group's conservative worldview slowly makes its ... a new approach to the news at WJLA-TV, Washington's ABC affiliate.

Good news, Washington DC -- your own local news channel, ABC 7, has new ownership who is going to turn the station conservative
In Washington, DC Sinclair turned the stations conservative. They are TELLING you that in their OWN press release. Are you that f-ing dense?

The biggest pressures squeezing liberal talk radio are commercial ones. Deregulation of the airwaves allowed conglomerates like Clear Channel to borrow billions from Wall Street and begin buying up stations by the hundreds. Saddled with debt, Clear Channel has ruthlessly standardized its 840 stations and squeezed each for maximum profit. That meant eliminating progressive talk from its stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland.

mediamatters
In the 2012 presidential election, Barack Obama garnered almost 69% of the vote in Los Angeles County, vs. 29% for Mitt Romney. Yet beginning Jan. 1, the U.S.’ second-largest media market lacks a dedicated progressive talk radio station, as KTLK-AM became the Patriot, espousing “True American values,” anchored by Rush Limbaugh.

Bye-Bye Progressive Radio in Los Angeles
On Jan. 2, 2014, Los Angeles' only liberal AM radio station -- KTLK AM 1150 -- was re-branded as a "hard-right conservative" station, according to station content director, David Perez. Clear Channel Communications, which owns over 9,000 US radio stations, is making a move that further homogenizes local talk radio: the L.A.-Orange County area already has four other conservative talk-radio stations.

"Basically, this is all about ratings and branding," Perez said. He explained that the current KTLK never really established its branding, which explains why listener ratings are lower compared to conservative talk radio, he said. He was not able to provide specific ratings figures by press time, only to say that he or someone else from the station would supply these figures later. That call back never came.

When reviewing the ratings for the other conservative talk-radio stations in Los Angeles, you will find that all of the other stations (AM 790 KABC, AM 870 KRLA, and AM 980 KFWB) have ratings that are very close to KTLK's numbers. It should be noted here that KFWB bills itself as a "news" station, which ought to attract even more listeners. But KFWB's numbers barely surpass KTLK's. Also, anyone who listens -- and who has access to a wide variety of information sources -- can easily identify KFWB's conservative position.

It is no coincidence that Clear Channel is also rebranding the only progressive AM station left in San Francisco. And Clear Channel's ratings claim is as weak there as it is in Los Angeles. When asked about the rebranding, coming 11 months before a mid-term election where progressive are running very strong, Clear Channel's Perez said they do not make operating decisions based on politics.

Clear Channel to Remove L.A. and San Francisco's Only Commercial Progressive Talk Radio Stations, Replace Them with More Right wing Talk

The largest media market in the world is about to lose its only non-Right wing commercial talk radio station. Los Angeles' KTLK 1150 am will be flipped to a far Right wing station featuring hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and other right wing talkers. "The changes are set to take effect for the first broadcast of 2014," according to the Los Angeles Times this afternoon.

KTLK is owned by Clear Channel Communications, Inc., the nation's largest owner of radio stations. Clear Channel is now owned by Mitt Romney's Bain Capital LLC. The talkers mentioned above who will be taking over the previously-progressive station are also syndicated by Clear Channel-owned Premiere Networks, the largest radio syndicator in the nation. The BRAD BLOG has long argued that the outsized control of our public airwaves enjoyed by Clear Channel/Premiere and a handful of other conglomerates --- including their ability to leverage our public airwaves (licensed from we, the people, in exchange only for their promise to serve the public interest) to distribute their own syndicator's shows --- is a likely violation of U.S. v. Paramount, the 1948 anti-trust Supreme Court decision which found that the major movie studios could not also control the means of distribution by owning the nation's largest theater chains at the same time.

As if ending progressive talk radio in L.A. isn't bad enough, Clear Channel will now also reportedly be flipping its formerly progressive San Francisco talk station KNEW 960 am (a move which they had threatened and then partially changed their mindabout flipping in late 2011), over to a completely Right-leaning station as well, says the Times. That will leave San Francisco, arguably the most progressive city in the nation, without any commercial progressive talk radio outlet at all. But, as in L.A., listeners will still have many different Right-leaning talks outlets on our public airwaves to choose from, several of them owned by the same major corporation.

Your analogy and Attkisson's claim is goes hand in hand, it's not worth a sh!t.

Rest of your repeated confusion of broadcast network content and corporate ownership as "conservative" is similarly inaccurate and previously dealt with.

Washington Post: Conservative slant to content, along with news working for sales, makes for 'nightmarish scenario' at Sinclair's new D.C. station

This would probably surprise no one, but it did not take Sinclair long to put its stamp on the centerpiece of its Allbritton acquistion, WJLA, reports the Washington Post.

Gone are GM Bill Lord, VP of news Doug Culver and, most recently, managing editor Dan Patrick.

Mark Hyman, a longtime presenter of pointed commentary on Sinclair stations, is delivering his commentaries on WJLA. The ABC affiliate has partnered with the conservative Washington Times, and Sinclair's Washington bureau stories “offer perspectives primarily from conservative think tanks,” says the paper.

The “must-run” stories railing against government waste may not fly in Washington, say some. “You can’t run a TV station in Washington by telling government workers that they’re a bunch of criminals and crooks,” said one WJLA reporter. “You can’t be the anti-government channel in Washington. They’re going to lose the trust they built up with people over years and years. We’ve told people, ‘We’re just like you,’ not, ‘We’re looking out for the tea party.’ ”

Sinclair did not comment to the Post.

Furthermore, several employees noted that David Smith, president and CEO, said the newsroom “works for” ad sales in an introductory staff meeting.

Washington Post reporter Paul Farhi gives two examples where the news department reported stories with questionable news merit that featured advertisers in a positive light.

Said Craig Aaron, president of the watchdog group Free Press:

“They have developed a reputation over a long number of years of pushing their stations to air news framed by a conservative worldview. They have a way of [presenting] the news so that Republicans will like it a lot better than Democrats.Craig Aaron. . . . When a company is as big as they are at a local level, it’s a cause for concern.”

Conservative papers dominate in circulation and have more papers in the Top 20 than Liberal.

Murdoch owns Wall Street Journal, New York Post. Gannett owns USA Today, Detroit Free Press, Arizona Republic + 79 other papers including 7 more in the top 100. That ends your claim of 80% Liberal.
Gannett Company, Inc. is a Conservative publicly traded media holding company headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, near McLean in Greater Washington DC. It is the largest U.S.newspaper publisher as measured by total daily circulation.

Gannett owns or operates 46 television stations through Gannett Broadcasting, Inc. and is the largest group owner of stations affiliated with NBC and CBS.

Gannett is the No. 1 NBC affiliate group; No. 1 CBS affiliate group; and the No. 4 ABC affiliate group. These stations cover 30% of the U.S. population in markets with nearly 35 million households.

Gannett stations now serve 83% of households in the state.of Texas.

Gannett spinning of its publishing business

MCLEAN, Va. (AP) — Gannett is spinning off its publishing business from its broadcasting and digital operations. The company is also acquiring full ownership of Cars.com for $1.8 billion.

It follows the Tribune Co., Time Warner Inc. and News Corp. in breaking off print media from its rapidly expanding broadcast operations.

Gannett Co. said Tuesday that the publishing business will basically be debt free once spun off, with the broadcasting and digital businesses holding the existing debt.

The publishing business will keep the Gannett name, while the broadcasting and digital company has yet to be named. Both companies will remain headquartered in McLean, Virginia.

Gannett is buying the 73 percent interest in Classified Ventures LLC, owner of Cars.com that it doesn’t already own. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.

No wonder you get taken in by the conservative bullsh!t if you think Rush was the one and only conservative voice. Did you think Rush was the only one? There were plenty of right wing voices on the air before Rush came on both locally and syndicated.

The Fairness Doctrine expired under Republican leadership, which allowed conservative groups to buy up all the radio and tv stations eliminating Liberal voices on the air, promoting conservative only stations.

Before that, there was more of a fair balance on the air where Liberals had a slot to speak. Conservatives still had more of a voice 2 to 1 over Liberals. For instance, one station would have 2 Conservatives to 1 Liberal. The rest of the programming would have hosts talking non politics about other topics. That was a popular format back then.

Here is a small list of right wingers who spoke on the air waves before Rush. Rush was NOT the only right winger on the air. Is this enough evidence for you?

The Best Talk Station Ever: What the Radio Industry Can Learn from WMCA, Circa 1980

JUPITER, FL — WMCA was the “little engine that could.” In the 60s, it battled WABC for “top 40” supremacy in New York. By the 70s, WMCA was “New York’s Conversation Station” and was giving legendary talk and variety station WOR a run for its money. As a 5,000 watt station at 570, WMCA was always punching above its weight class against 50,000 watt flamethrowers WABC and WOR in the sprawling New York metropolitan area.

In 1980, WMCA had assembled a veritable All Star team of talk talent in the prime of their careers.

The irascible Bob Grant did mornings followed by Sally Jessy Raphael (9:00 am -12:00 noon), Barry Gray (12:00 noon – 2:00 pm) and Bruce Williams (2:00 pm -4:00 pm) middays, Barry Farber in afternoon drive (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm), the CBS Mystery Theatre early evenings, Candy Jones, Mets baseball and Islanders hockey at night and Larry King overnight. Art Rust, Jr. hosted Sports Talk on weekends.

Grant, who was already a news/talk star from stints at KABC and WOR, would go on to afternoon drive dominance at WABC. Sally Jessy Raphael left for NBC Talknet, ABC Radio syndication and daytime television stardom. Barry Gray defined New York talk and is considered by many industry observers to be the “father of talk radio.” Bruce Williams became a giant in syndication with Talknet. Farber was the conservative lion long before Rush Limbaugh and was on New York radio for decades, ran for Congress and Mayor of New York and had syndicated radio and TV shows. In 1980, Larry King’s overnight radio show was at the height of its popularity before he would spend 25 years in prime time on CNN. Art Rust, Jr., was a fixture on WABC for a number of years in the mid-80s.

WMCA in 1980 was a juggernaut programmed by Mark Mason who would go on to become the dean of New York spoken word format program directors with Talkradio 77 WABC, Sportsradio 66 WFAN and All News 1010 WINS. From 1979-1980, WMCA delivered a solid 3.0 share, Monday-Sunday 6:00 am – 12:00 midnight, 12-plus, and finished as high as 8th in the October/November 1979 book with a 3.2 share. Today, New York’s two 50KW news/talk stations, WABC and WOR, combined do not equal the ratings of 5KW WMCA in 1979-80.

What can radio learn from WMCA in the early 80s? There’s a lot more to the news/talk format than conservative talk!

WMCA had conservatives in Grant and Farber, a liberal in Barry Gray, lifestyle talk with Sally Jessy Raphael, consumer advice with Bruce Williams, drama and entertainment with the CBS Mystery Theatre and sports with the Mets, Islanders and Art Rust, Jr.

Many, if not most, of today’s news/talk stations have only the conservative audience. WMCA didn’t have just one cume audience — it had seven! WMCA attracted conservatives, liberals, information junkies, women, consumers, sports fans and drama/entertainment aficionados. It gave people a lot of reasons to listen.

There’s more than one way to do news/talk — and there is most certainly more than one audience for it. Too many programmers today are programming for other programmers. Anybody in the news/talk game in 2014 would do well to study how WMCA was programmed in 1980. Yes, some things have changed — but almost every news/talk station in the country would do well to emulate WMCA, circa 1980, and make the necessary changes to become more appealing and meaningful to a broader cross section of people.

http://www.talkers.com/2014/08/25/t...adio-industry-can-learn-from-wmca-circa-1980/
By the 70s, WMCA was “New York’s Conversation Station”, so yes, there were conservative only stations in the 70's.

Only 1 Liberal to the other conservatives on the stations in the 80's.

WABC welcomes back Bob Grant

Sharp-tongued radio host Bob Grant is returning to WABC (770 AM), the station that kicked him to the curb a dozen years ago.

WABC program director Phil Boyce confirmed yesterday that the 78-year-old Grant, whose 1995 firing made national headlines, will take the 8-10 weeknight slot starting this evening.

"We're delighted to have him back," said Boyce. "He's done some fill-ins for us and he's the old Bob, full of fire and passion."

"I never thought I'd miss this as much as I did," said Grant, who left full-time radio in early 2006 after 10 years on WOR (710 AM). "I thought I'd retire and just do what I wanted. But it turned out what I wanted to do is what I'm going to be doing now."

Grant, who helped pioneer local conservative radio talk on WMCA in the early 1970s, was fired for a comment after then-Commerce Secretary Ron Brown was killed in a plane crash.

Initial bulletins said one person might have lived, which led Grant to crack, "I have a hunch [Brown might be] the lone survivor. But then I'm a pessimist at heart."

I knew we had been through this before, just couldn't put my finger on who it was. The long winded posts finally tipped me off.

Same deal applies as last time, you still seem a little confused about the core ideologies of right vs left. Btw your hours spent scouring "conservatives" in the media since the 70's lol, you realize you can find 3 times the amount of sh!tlibs? On a side note I wonder when all this "right leaning" media is you know..going to actually kick in as opposed to this current overwhelming single mother glorifying, welfare loving, business punishing, big daddy gubmint dependant, fat kid praising, mediocrity pushing leftoid poz?

Oh yeah and wait until you figure out today's "conservatives" are simply the sh!tlibs of 30 years ago.

Bill Cosby is not hated by the left. Just another lie being told by the right against the left to claim a "media bias" undermining them.

Bill Cosby is a Democrat, he doesn't like Republicans at all, but remains socially conservative on issues. Cosby's show I spy was banned in the south by Republicans due to his race in 1965. Cosby also compared Republicans to "Segregationists" recently on Television.

Cosby made the "Pound Cake Speech" back in 2004 that upset a few blacks. The left doesn't universally him like the right is trying to claim. Since that speech, Cosby has attended many Democratic fundraisers and campaigned for Obama in 2008 and 2012.

Another Conservative lie that has debunked.

In 1965, when he was cast alongside Robert Culp in the I Spy espionage adventure series, Cosby became the first African-American co-star in a dramatic television series, and NBC became the first to present a series so cast. At first Cosby and NBC executives were concerned that some affiliates might be unwilling to carry the series. At the beginning of the 1965 season, four stations declined the show; they were in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

I Spy was banned from being shown by certain television stations in the South due to the showcasing of an African-American (Bill Cosby) in a leading role.

The Pound Cake Speech

The Pound Cake speech was given by Bill Cosby in May 2004 during an NAACP awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision. In it, Cosby was highly critical of members of subsets of the black community in the United States. He criticized the use of African American Vernacular English, the prevalence of single-parent families, the emphasis on frivolous and conspicuous consumptionat the expense of necessities, lack of responsibility, and other behaviors.

Cosby's Political Views

Cosby is a Democrat and is very outspoken about the plight of the African-American community--but is more inclined to blame black people for their problems than anyone else.

The intersection of Democrat and conservative

Bill Cosby is a Democrat, make no mistake about it. Of the $20,000 Cosby has donated to political causes since 1987, the majority of it was to Democratic candidates and the rest was to either Democrat or non-partisan special interest groups.

He campaigned for Obama in 2008 and defended the president’s name in 2012. Referring to Obama’s epic battles with Congress, Cosby said:

And then when you see that [Obama] made promises and said things, the people who were supposed to be working with him didn’t. The people who are supposed to be working — even for another party — didn’t care about the American people. They wanted to get him… I believe he is for the people.

Bill Cosby Compares Spiteful Republicans to Segregationists

Bill Cosby isn’t anyone’s Dr. Huxtable anymore.

The outspoken actor and activist recently compared today’s Republicans to racist segregationists for staying in their seats during the president’s State of the Union Address.

During a discussion about the Voting Rights Act in a (debatable) post racial society on “Starting Point” with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, he pointed to the prevalent racism of today.

O’Brien gleaned to Cosby’s achievements in an intense period in American history and noted that it may have appeared to some that the nation progressed to a post racial society.

“I read about you, at the same time the fight for rights in the South was going on,” she said to Cosby, “you were on the verge of winning an Emmy award. First black man – in 1966 you would win an Emmy award. And the show, ‘I Spy,’ was banned in the South.”

“It’s just hard to believe,” co-panelist, Rep. Connie Mack (R-FL) said. “It’s unbelievable.”

“I don’t think so,” Cosby quickly responded. “Not when you look at the President’s speech recently.”

He continued.

“To see people sitting down when there are others standing and cheering. I think we have people sitting there who are as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation. And then in place of a better America, they want their own sick feelings put across, and it’s — it isn’t — it isn’t a good time, but I think, also on our part as professors and presidents of colleges all over, and in public schools, we need to get the education of the correct history that happened so people can say, ‘Yes, this really did happen.’”

There you have it, another lie by the right that has been debunked.

This was reported about Cosby on "The Smoking Gun" website back in March 2005 where it goes into great detail about the alleged incident that Bill Cosby drugged and molested Andrea Constand in 2004. There's 17 pages of documents and information. Very interesting read.

Cosby Hit With Sex Assault Suit

Woman: Comedian drugged, molested her in his Pennsylvania home

MARCH 8--Two weeks after Pennsylvania prosecutors declined to file criminal sexual assault charges against him, Bill Cosby was sued today by the woman who leveled those accusations against the 67-year-old comedian.

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, the woman, Andrea Constand, alleges that Cosby drugged and molested her in January 2004 at the performer's Cheltenham home. Constand, who met Cosby in late-2002 when she worked at Temple University, contends that she agreed to go to the comedian's home after he called to say he "wanted to offer her assistance in her pursuit of a different career."

Constand (seen at right) claims that when she told Cosby that she was "feeling stressed" about career decisions, he offered her three blue pills, which he described as herbal medication that would relax her.

Instead, she charges, the pills left her "barely conscious" with her limbs feeling immobile. It was then, Constand alleges in her complaint, that Cosby--whom she considered a mentor--laid her down on a sofa and proceeded to sexually assault her. She awoke hours later to discover her clothes and undergarments in disarray. Constand adds that she was greeted by a bathrobe-clad Cosby.

Constand did not report the alleged attack to police for nearly a year, which was likely a major factor in the decision by Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor not to file charges against Cosby. Constand's lawsuit charges Cosby with battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and seeks a minimum of $150,000 in damages for each of the complaint's five counts. Woman calls Cosby a "serial rapist"

Woman claims Bill Cosby raped her and 12 Playboy Bunnies

“I can name off 12 right now that I know of. 12 former bunnies.”

Those are the words of P.J. Masten, who, in an interview with CNN, revealed even more rape allegations against comedian Bill Cosby. “He’s a serial rapist. He’s been that way since the ‘60s.”

In 1979, Masten says she was working as a “bunny manager” at Chicago’s Playboy club when she met the actor. Bill asked P.J. to have dinner with him and he told her to meet at the hotel he was staying at. Upon her arrival, she recalls four other men were in the room, smoking cigars, watching sports, and drinking liquor when Cosby asked if she would like a drink before they went out. “I took the glass and I drank it and the next thing I knew it was four o’clock in the morning. I woke in a bed naked [and] bruised. He was laying next to me and I slivered out of the bed.”

Bill Cosby was a close friend of Hugh Hefner’s. A few days after the incident she told her Playboy supervisor what had happened.

"She said to me, 'You know that's Hef's best friend, right?'" Masten recounted, referring to Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. "I said, 'Yes.' She said, 'Well, nobody is going to believe you. I suggest you keep your mouth shut.'

As for the other 12 women, Masten says through reconnecting at reunions and on social media, former bunnies have shared similar stories about Cosby, but it’s likely we won’t be hearing from all of them. She claims they are, “ashamed to come forward, frightened to come forward, married with families (and) don't want to come forward.”

Hugh Hefner has released a statement concerning an incident in which Cosby allegedly raped a woman at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15-years-old. He said, “Bill Cosby has been a good friend for many years and the mere thought of these allegations is truly saddening. I would never tolerate this kind of behavior, regardless of who was involved.”

Los Angeles police investigating Cosby abuse claim

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police opened an investigation into a woman's claims that Bill Cosby molested her when she was 15 years old, a department spokeswoman said.

The investigation was opened Friday after Judy Huth, who is suing Cosby for sexual battery, met with detectives for 90 minutes, Officer Jane Kim said.

Huth's civil suit claims Cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974 when she was underage.

Attorney Gloria Allred said Huth met with two special victim unit detectives Friday, three days after her lawsuit was filed.

"We are going to provide any and all evidence that she has," Allred said.

Huth did not take questions during a news conference.

Police did not give any additional details about the investigation. Police Chief Charlie Beck on Thursday urged potential victims of sex abuse by Cosby to speak with detectives, regardless of whether their claims were outside the statute of limitations.

Allred refused to comment on Huth's lawsuit, which was filed by a different law firm. Cosby's attorney, Martin Singer, accused Huth and another lawyer of extortion and said she attempted to sell her story to a tabloid a decade earlier.

Singer's filing states the other attorney, Marc Strecker, first demanded $100,000 for Huth to remain silent, then raised the demand to $250,000 as more women came forward accusing Cosby of sexual misconduct.

Cosby has been accused by more than 15 women in recent weeks of sexual misconduct, ranging from groping to drugging and raping. He has never been charged with a crime, and his attorneys have denied many of the allegations.

Crews on Friday were forced to clean up Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after someone wrote "Rapist" on it three times.

"When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California state landmark," the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which manages the stars embedded in several sidewalks, said in a statement.

Cosby received his star in 1977. It's placed near the busy intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and North Highland Avenue.

Also Friday, a woman who said Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1979 told her story in interviews with CNN and The Associated Press and said she wanted to help stop the comedian from abusing others.

P.J. Masten said in an interview with CNN that she woke up naked and bruised in a bed with Cosby in Chicago after he gave her an alcoholic drink and that she believes she was raped.

She said she knew Cosby from working at Playboy clubs in New Jersey, Los Angeles and Chicago. She said she was instructed at the time not to report the assault because Cosby was Hugh Hefner's "best friend," but she decided this week to come forward with her allegations after a woman sued Cosby, alleging that he forced her to perform a sex act at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15.

"I just want him exposed for the serial druggie rapist that he is. He's got to be stopped," Masten said. "I don't care if he's 77 years old. He's got to be stopped."

A Timeline of the Abuse Charges Against Bill Cosby

http://www.vulture.com/2014/09/timeline-of-the-abuse-charges-against-cosby.html

A Timeline of the Abuse Charges Against Bill Cosby

Thirty years ago this fall, The Cosby Show debuted on NBC, and its star was catapulted into the comedic stratosphere. The timing is prime, then, for the release of a sprawling biography. Written by former Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker, Cosby: His Life and Times documents the man’s rise from the Philadelphia projects, while also detailing the creation of his family sitcom and the murder of his son Ennis in 1997.

The book is notable, however, for its complete avoidance of sexual abuse allegations that have dogged Cosby for more than a decade. In a statement toBuzzfeed's Kate Aurthur, Whitaker says, "I didn’t want to print allegations that I couldn’t confirm independently." Regardless, their absence is glaring. Consider the following timeline an appendix to the book.

November 2002
Andrea Constand, director of operations for Temple University’s women’s basketball team, allegedly met with Bill Cosby. Constand claims that Cosby, who had been a member of Temple’s track and field and football teams, assumed a role as her mentor.

January 2004
According to Constand, she visited Cosby at his Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, home to discuss career advice, and after allegedly (according to a civil lawsuit she would later file) giving her "herbal" pills to ease her anxiety, Cosby “touched her breasts and vaginal area, rubbed his penis against her hand, and digitally penetrated” her.

January 13, 2005
Constand, who had since moved near Toronto to study massage therapy, accuses Cosby of "inappropriate touching" — groping her breasts and placing her hand on his genitals — to Canadian authorities. Cosby’s lawyer calls her allegation "utterly preposterous" and "plainly bizarre.”

January 27, 2005
ABC News reports that the interaction between Constand and Cosby — who is at this point cooperating with the investigation — might have been consensual.

February 10, 2005
Tamara Green, a California lawyer, appears on the Today show and alleges that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in the 1970s. Green tells Matt Lauer that Cosby, who had given her pills to combat a fever, drove her to her apartment and began “… groping me and kissing me and touching me and handling me and … taking off my clothes.” According to Green, Cosby left two $100 bills on her coffee table afterwards. Cosby’s lawyer issues a statement: “Miss Green’s allegations are absolutely false. Mr. Cosby does not know the name Tamara Green or Tamara Lucier [her maiden name], and the incident she describes did not happen. The fact that she may have repeated this story to others is not corroboration.”

February 17, 2005
Citing a lack of evidence, the investigating district attorney in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, announces he will not act on Constand’s accusation and bring criminal charges against Cosby.

March 8, 2005
Constand files a civil complaint against Cosby. The five-count lawsuit charges Cosby with battery and assault, and asks for at least $150,000 in damages. Thirteen women who allege similar experiences as Constand and Green are mentioned in court papers as Jane Doe witnesses.

May 2005
In Constand’s civil lawsuit, she alleges the comedian gave her three blue pills, which he said was herbal medication. Cosby’s lawyers, however, issue a court filing and attempt to clarify that the comedian merely gave Constand one and a half tablets of Benadryl.

June 2005
Jane Doe 5 goes public. Beth Ferrier claims she was in a relationship with Cosby in the mid-1980s, one that ended when he allegedly drugged her coffee and Ferrier woke in a car. “My clothes were a mess. My bra was undone. My top was untucked. And I'm sitting there going, 'Oh my God. Where am I?' What's going on? I was so out of it. It was just awful."

February 2006
While in the midst of her civil suit, Constand sues one of Cosby’s lawyers — and the National Enquirer — for defamation. Cosby had spoken to the tabloid the year before, and Constand claimed the interview defamed her as it “[intended] to or knowing it would injure” her.

June 2006*
Philadelphia magazine interviews another witness in Constand’s lawsuit, Barbara Bowman. “Cosby threw me on the bed and braced his forearm against my neck and attempted to disrobe me and himself,” she said. “I can still remember him messing with his belt. And I was screaming and crying and yelling and begging him to stop.”

November 2006
Cosby settles with Constand. Terms are not disclosed, and none of the 13 other women testify.

December 2006
The following month, People magazine publishes Bowman's account of several assaults: "It was in a hotel in Reno, claims Bowman, that Cosby assaulted her one night in 1986. 'He took my hand and his hand over it, and he masturbated with his hand over my hand,' says Bowman, who, although terrified, kept quiet about the incident and continued as Cosby's protégé because, she says, 'Who's gonna believe this? He was a powerful man. He was like the president.' Before long she was alone with Cosby again in his Manhattan townhouse; she was given a glass of red wine, and "the next thing I know, I'm sick and I'm nauseous and I'm delusional and I'm limp and ... I can't think straight.... And I just came to, and I'm wearing a [men's] T-shirt that wasn't mine, and he was in a white robe.'"

That same People article reports that three of the Jane Does from the March 2005 case accepted cash from Cosby for years, and two others began consensual sexual relationships with Cosby.

February 2014
Katie Baker of Newsweek — Whitaker’s former employer — interviews both Green and Bowman about the alleged assaults. Bowman tells Baker she was disappointed in the settlement, and Green recounts running into and accosting Cosby in Las Vegas, yelling, “Rapist! Liar! *******!” While Cosby doesn’t issue a statement regarding Bowman’s claims, his publicist responds to Green, “This is a 10-year-old, discredited accusation that proved to be nothing at the time, and is still nothing.”

October 16, 2014
Comedian Hannibal Buress does an extended bit about the rape charges in Cosby's home town of Philadelphia. "Bill Cosby has the ****ing smuggest old black man public persona that I hate," Buress says. "Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the ’80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom. Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple notches." A clip of the set goes viral after being posted inPhiladelphia magazine.

November 10,2014
To battle the bad press, Cosby's PR team launches an online meme generator. Twitter is immediately inundated with references to the rape claims.

November 13, 2014
Inspired by the reactions to Buress's bit, Bowman pens an op-ed in the Washington Post, titled "Bill Cosby raped me. Why did it take 30 years for people to believe my story?" She notes that "only after a man ... called Bill Cosby a rapist in a comedy act last month did the public outcry begin in earnest."

November 15, 2014
Cosby is asked about the various charges on NPR's "Weekend Edition" but stays silent. His lawyer later posts a statement saying Cosby "won't dignify these allegations with any response."

November 16, 2014
A new accuser, Joan Tarshis, alleges that Cosby drugged and assaulted her on two occasions in 1969. "As more and more of his rape victims have come forward, all telling similar stories," Tarshis says, "the time is right to join them."

November 17, 2014
Linda Joy Traitz, a former waitress at Cosby's Café Figaro, writes a lengthyFacebook post accusing the actor of trying to drug her in the early '70s. She says the incident occurred when Cosby drove her home one night: "He drove out to the beach and opened a briefcase filled with assorted drugs and kept offering me pills 'to relax,' which I declined. He began to get sexually aggressive and wouldn’t take ‘No’ for an answer. I freaked out and demanded to be taken home."

November 18, 2014
On Entertainment Tonight, supermodel Janice ****inson becomes the next woman to accuse Cosby of sexual abuse, saying the comedian drugged and raped her in 1982. She recalls Cosby giving her wine and a pill, which he told her were for menstrual cramps: "Before I woke up in the morning, the last thing I remember was Bill Cosby in a patchwork robe, dropping his robe and getting on top of me. And I remember a lot of pain. The next morning I remember waking up with my pajamas off and there was semen in between my legs." ****inson alluded to the event in her 2002 memoir, and later told Howard Stern she was asked to change the text to show Cosby in a better light.

Netflix indefinitely shelves the Bill Cosby stand-up special that was set to air Thanksgiving week.

November 19, 2014
Nearly all remnants of Cosby vanish from the airwaves as TV Land pulls all Cosby Show reruns from its schedule and NBC scraps the sitcom it was developing with him.

The Associated Press releases video of a November 6 interview in which Cosby tells an AP interviewer to "scuttle" footage of him refusing to comment on the charges. "If you want to consider yourself to be serious," he says, "it will not appear anywhere." Cosby later says he "thought AP had the integrity to not ask."

A Timeline of the Abuse Charges Against Bill Cosby (continued)

November 20, 2014
A hoax website publishes a story saying Raven-Symoné was abused by Cosby as a child. Symoné disputes the rumor on Instagram: "I was NOT taking [sic] advantage of by Mr. Cosby when I was on the Cosby Show! I was practically a baby on that show and this is truly a disgusting rumor that I want no part of! Everyone on that show treated me with nothing but kindness. Now keep me out of this!"

Three additional women accuse Cosby of sexual assault: Carla Ferrigno, wife and manager of Incredible Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno, says Cosby "attacked" her when she was a teenager, grabbing and kissing her at a 1967 party; Love, American Style actress Louisa Moritz tells TMZ that Cosby forced her to perform oral sex on him in a Tonight Show green-room in 1971; and nurse Theresa Serignese claims Cosby drugged and raped her in 1976. Serignese was one of 13 Jane Does in the 2005 court case, while Ferrigno and Moritz provide new allegations.

In another statement, Cosby's lawyer condemns the "media-driven feeding frenzy" and calls the latest round of allegations "utter nonsense." As he writes, "People are trying to come up with these wild stories in order to justify why they have waited 40 to 50 years to disclose these ridiculous accusations."

November 21, 2014
Three more accusers step forward. All tell similar stories: Kristina Ruehli says Cosby spiked her bourbon and forced her to perform oral sex in 1965; Picture Pages actress Renita Chaney Hill alleges Cosby drugged and assaulted her multiple times when she was a teenager; and model Angela Leslie contends that Cosby invited her to his Las Vegas hotel room in 1992, got naked, then forced her to masturbate him.

Multiple theaters cancel upcoming appearances by Cosby, including the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and the Virginia Theater in Illinois.

November 22, 2014
The Washington Post publishes the results of a long investigation into the allegations, including an interview with a new accuser: former Playmate Victoria Valentino, who says Cosby drugged and assaulted her and a friend in 1970. "He came over to me and sat down on the love seat and opened his fly and grabbed my head and pushed my head down," Valentino tells the Post. "And then he turned me over. It was like a waking nightmare."

November 23, 2014
Former Cosby Show employee Frank Scotti says he was in charge of delivering payoffs to eight different women. In his words, "It was a coverup." Scotti also claims that he stood guard outside Cosby's dressing room while the comedian conducted "interviews" with young models, all supplied by an agency he had an "arrangement" with.

November 24, 2014
Model Jewel Allison accuses Cosby of drugging and assaulting her in the late '80s. She recalls accepting a dinner invitation to Cosby's home, where he poured her a glass of wine. Allison says now she thinks the wine was drugged. "I looked at myself in the mirror and I didn't look good," she tells the New YorkDaily News. "My eyes were all over the place." She remembers Cosby placing her hand on his penis, kissing her, then calling a cab. "There's no such thing as Cliff Huxtable," she says. "There's just a man named Bill Cosby. He's a very sick sociopath."

Mark Whitaker, author of the recent Cosby biography, apologizes on Twitter for not including the sexual assault allegations in his book.

December 1, 2014
Cosby resigns from his position on Temple's board of trustees.

December 2, 2014
Judy Huth accuses Cosby of assaulting her when she was 15. Huth claims that she and a friend met Cosby when they wandered onto a movie set in 1974. A week later, she says, the comedian took them to a party at the Playboy Mansion. There, Huth claims Cosby told her to lie about her age; then, when the two were alone, Cosby stuck his hand down her pants and forced her to masturbate him. Huth is the first accuser in nearly a decade to get the legal system involved: She's suing Cosby for damages based on the "psychological damage and mental anguish" she says she received. Huth cannot file criminal charges against the star, as the alleged incident took place before 1988.

On Twitter, Cosby thanks celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott for standing by him.

December 3, 2014
At a press conference called by Gloria Allred, Beth Ferrier joins two new accusers: Helen Hayes says Cosby stalked her "like a predator" in 1973 before coming up behind her and grabbing her breast; a woman known only as "Chelan" claims Cosby drugged and assaulted her in a hotel room in 1986. Allred calls for Cosby to either waive the statute of limitations for the allegations against him, or else donate $100 million to fund settlements for the accusers.

December 4, 2014
Cosby files his own lawsuit against Huth, saying she used the threat of a sexual-assault claim to try to extort him. The lawsuit calls Huth's accusations "meritless and unsupported," and claims she went public only "after Mr. Cosby rejected plaintiff’s outrageous demand for money." Cosby and his lawyer also say Huth broke the law by naming him in her lawsuit. They are seeking $33,000 in damages.

Meanwhile, a New York theater cancels two upcoming Cosby performances and the Navy strips Cosby of his honorary chief petty officer designation.

So far, 19 women have publicly accused Cosby of assaulting them.

Woman Sues Bill Cosby for Denying That He Drugged and Groped Her

Woman Sues Bill Cosby for Denying That He Drugged and Groped Her

Tamara Green, who first accused Bill Cosby of drugging and groping her in the 1970s on The Today Show in 2005, is now suing Cosby for defamation. Since the statute of limitations has run out for sexual assault, this is one way Green can face him in court.

According to TMZ, Green, a retired attorney, is suing Cosby for lying and denying that he assaulted her. She claims that "repeated denials from Cosby's publicist have branded her a liar.As a result, Green says she's been ridiculed in her private life and professionally."

In an interview with the Daily Mail in November, Green repeated her claims that Cosby drugged and groped her. She alleges that when she was in her early 20s, Cosby gave her two pills at lunch because she was complaining of flu-like symptoms. He took her home, and then in her words, "he took my clothes off, touched me up and masturbated next to me. I was so stoned, I thought I was dying."

She continued, "Bill Cosby is twisted, he's a sexual predator who attacked me and has done the same to dozens of women that I know of," she said. "But he continues to refuse to acknowledge it, which is what angers me and the other women most. He should come clean and apologize for what he has done."

Cosby's reps haven't commented on the defamation suit, which comes on the heels of one former Playboy Bunny's allegation that Cosby raped her and a dozen other bunnies.
