Best state in usa to live in?

Ok so i moved to south africa when i was around 5. I plan on moving back to usa but wondering which state would be th best to live lifestyle wise and job wise. BTW i was born in miami, florida.

It really really depends on what your interest and politic views are.

North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia are probably my favorite states. I enjoy the fishing, hunting, and the beaches they have to offer. Owning a gun in those states is a lot less stress then say California. Plus things are just that much better down south. Good food, pretty women, friendly people, and did I mention anything about pretty women?

You might not make as much money down south as you would say in Delaware though but the cost of living is cheaper.

Seems like the further south and the further west you go, the better-looking the women are and the more laid-back people get. Until you approach the west coast...then between the latin influence and Hollywood, you may run into occasional pockets of crazy.

California has the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the country. Minnesota is boring.

The jury is still out on the best state, as I have only lived in 4 to date. The worst without a question is Massachusetts. The people, the cost of living, the driving...everything is crap. While I loved Boston, most people were transplants from elsewhere.

I would really like to hear opinions about southern cali, and the bay area. I have also heard good things about Portland, Seattle and Vancouver ( not in the US , I know).

I grew up in MI, which I think is very underrated. Tons of lakes, inland and the Great Lakes, tons to do, lots of affluent counties. Very passionate about sports. Very family oriented as well.

However, I moved to S Cal a few years ago (lived in Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, and Pasadena) and there it has one thing that MI does not.....great weather all year long. For example this week its been in the 80's and sunny, and it is pretty much sunny here 330 days a year. And there are tons of things to do in CA. Sports, mountains to ski at, lakes, nightclubs, biking, beaches/ocean, beach cities like Santa Monica, Malibu, Newport, Laguna Beach, hot girls, Hollywood, concerts, Vegas is close, etc. I would say if you can afford, at least live here for a few years. Plus it really is like living in the Midwest. Same type of people. No accents for example. And most of the people I have met here are transplants from the Midwest. Now, dont get me wrong, it has a ton of hispanics, which I am not used to, and I generally avoid, but if you go to the right areas, its pretty awesome. Hot Asian women here too . When I first moved here I never thought I would like it, but I really do love it now.

you could not pay me to live in the deep south again. it's cold, isn't **** to do, people are biggots and think ass backwards, and not that many citis. No good, real good shopping, a "good suit" in Arkansas is a 300 dollar men's wearhouse POS suit.

Florida wasn't bad, but the weather isn't AS good but still better than everywhere else. I lived in Sarasota which is on the west coast of florida. Meh.

Funny you mention this thread, i'm toying with the idea, not seriously but considering somewhat moving out of the country, either to Toronto or to London. America is going down the ****ter.

Agree. IF I ever leave CA, it would be for my home state of MI again, or out of the country, probably Australia.

And you could not pay me to live in that cesspool of humidity called Florida. Add in the overcrowding, the hispanics, the crime. It's warm here in CA, but even when its 100 out, its a very dry heat. Most days its around 80 during the day, 50's at night.....perfect. Florida you literally melt from the humidity. Even MI can get like that, I remember going back to MI last July 4, and just about dying from how humid it was, and I grew up there!

BB if you think the deep south is cold, forget Toronto, or even London. Toronto has the same weather I grew up with in MI. October its in the 40's and 50's. November 30's and 40's and rain/snow. December through March is minus 0 to 35 and snow, lots of gray days, not much sun. Look at the highs right now, in the teens. April is 40's-50's and rain. May through Sept is great though haha.

London is no snow, but lots of rain and 50's a lot of the year.

I live 30 miles east of Tampa, 30 miles west of Orlando. I'm fortunate enough to have all of the benefits of both large counties, without the traffic and guilt.

I will second that the further south you go from Tampa, the more blue-hairs are flying around aimlessly in their too big and fast for them cars.

Philadelphia because it's home. It has character like nowhere else. But if you're from South Africa I'm assuming you're a bit scared of the kaffirs so stick to the suburbs.

In all honesty it boils down to North Carolina or California to me. Depending on how expensive you want it that is.

I currently live in Central Florida, which is not bad, but not fantastic. If I had to chose to move somewhere else, it would be Virginia, South Carolina, Texas, or Arkansas.

There is not much to do in Arkansas, but if you want to hide yourself, that is the best place to do it without having to go to the inner-mountain west.

Tampa was fun when I was younger, never been to California to compare it.

The one thing I like about living in the middle of nowhere middle America is that I can genuinely say that if some sort of disaster turned off the utilities for an extended time, I'd be fine. People in cities would not.

Your manhood is severely compromised if you could not relish the idea of a hunting and fishing trip in Alaska, that place is beyond words. It is just the BIGGEST place I've ever seen, everything moves on a planetary scale up there. It is a land of glaciers, mountains, big risks and big rewards. It will enthrall you one moment, and kill you the next.

Oh, and Hawaii is pretty nice, too.

I grew up on a farm in Ohio, and I was stationed in North & South Carolina and southern California. This is the greatest place in the world to live, there is nowhere else where you can find your true potential and live as a self-determinate, free man.

Sure, there's plenty of places where you can sit on a beach and waste your life, and if you would sincerely desire to do so, we don't need you anyway. But I'm sure you're not like that, that "small something" inside you that compels you towards America, shows you are perhaps made of the sterner stuff. I wish you luck.
