Best solo sport for exercise? most of my buddies are too busy with their wifes and careers to workout. I don't like working out but I love sports. What is the best solo sport to lose weight?

Boxing...

1. Learn to Shadow box

2. Find a punching bag (make sure you learn how to throw punches properly so you dont get hurt.

Throwing punches is the craziest exercise you'll get... The first time I used a heavy bag I whent for like 10 minutes and I was DONE lol... the next morning my WHOLE BODY WAS SORE! some muscles I didnt even know I had were sore... ****in great:D
Just remember to move around it n stuff, not jut stand in one place and wail like a dumbass. Throw different punches from different angles n stuff to work your body t the max.

The main reason boxing type workouts are such great exercise is because the act of throwing a punch, specially ones with force, requires you to exert your mid-section a lot. Mainly your abdominals.
Most of your back muscles also get a great workout.
(to work your back muscles better, after throwing a punch, retrieve it as fast as you can. I wouldnt recommend doing that with really hard punches though because its not just really hard to do- but also its not safe for your joints (shoulder mainly).
that is all...

o, and if you are actually going to go through with the boxing, remember to google stuff like handwraps, heavybag gloves, ect. that stuff important if you dont want to hurt yourself.

Try playing tennis against yourself. Smack the ball to the other side of the court... RUN across and hit it back again...

Could be fun. ;)

Boxing is definately one of the best workouts, as it works all the muscles from your toes to your face. It works your upperbody (shoulders, tris, bis, back and chest) immensly. But most of all it really works your legs. Around 70% of your power will come from your legs.

If you are simply looking for a sport to loose weight, I would recommend swimming. This is the fastest way to burn calories (at least this is the information I have read). But then again, I have never been a big fan of swimming laps (did it for years as my parents made me, but as soon as I was old enough to decide, that all stopped!).

I like this post it has motivated me to get into boxing again.

I have always been into working out, but when I added boxing into my workout, my body was looking splendid. You can even practice at home, with no equipment, throwing jabs, hooks, bob and weaving, and ducks.

Also for fighting purpose spar with a partner, because you can really adjust and fix your problems until you spar and know what they are.

Does that really make you burn cal? How long would you have to do that to be able to get a good workout?

well nightwing says you will burn calories, now i agree there as the possibility to do so. But be realistic for a second, you need some space, if you have no space to move around you will not burn calories, i guess if oyu have a nice sized garden it could do but otherwise you will not have space to move around whilst you do it, its the moving around that burns the calories.

I do not think this is hte best idea join a gym or martial arts or boxing club if you cant then do one of the other sports mentioned above.
