No one cares whether you're a jacked up, personal trainer/doctor/"insert extra bragging rights here". All we're saying is that the video you gave for bench press technique is crap. It's not safer, in fact you're more likely to injure yourself in such a laid back form, than if doing proper form dictated by Dave Tate.

Also there is no "bench press for bodybuilders" or "Bench press for powerlifters", there's only one type of bench press.
If you want to arch your back and stick your ass in the air to reduce the distance the barbell travels, good for you.

In my video am I showing you how to get the most weight in a bench press?

NO

My video is showing me (with a shoulder injury from boxing: torn labrum) performing a bench press exercise with minimal stress to the shoulders.

In other words, a safe effective way of performing the bench press.

Best to think of these "high prices" as paying for their time. What are each of you guys worth? I make almost $40 an hr in my job, so if I'm going to spend 1hr of my time with someone and I'm not getting anything pleasurable out of it.... guess what you are going to be paying? :)

My point is simply this; Don't think of it as their knowledge (which seems expensive) vs. what you can find online for free. The difference of this comparison that you guys are missing is that with one of these options, you have an actual person there specifically just for you using their valuable time just for you. That's time he could be using somewhere else, perhaps making money doing something else.

Personal coaches (for anything) are expensive and to be completely honest, thought of as a luxury. The going rate for tennis coaches here ranges from $35-40/hr. I can't see why it'd be any different with a weight lifting coach.
It is obvious that you are a man of high intellect and common sense. There is a reason why you make $40/hr in your profession.

Some guys can research everything on their own, workout with dedication at the gym, and get great results.

However, most give up after 2 weeks. That's why the gyms are filled up after new years eve and empty 2 weeks later.

I get it now. The negative lowlifes here that are attacking me cannot understand the concept of personal coaches because they themselves work menial jobs.

I have a proven track record of getting results for my clients. Clients that would have given up if they worked out on their own. Some of my clients have trained with me for years and are still training with me.

Azanon, thank you for your balanced and informative post.

Muscle Guy the reason your getting flamed is because your coming here with an obvious agenda of advertising your business. From a business standpoint it would be a better idea to just post here and offer value for awhile without advertisement links in your signature. Actually help some people, show your passion in helping people transform there body, gain some respect. Then you can throw in a link to a blog, which has a link to your business. The way your going about it feels very spammy.

And I think its incredibly immature and disrespectful for you to respond back with arbritary insults about how much money people may or may not make. You posted a video on an open forum, the masses gave there opinions, no need to give made up low blows. Thats why it would of been a better idea to post on the forum before attaching your business and your name to it to get a general feel for what the people here are into. Then you could of created a market approriate video for this particular forum and potentially gotten clients or positive publicity.

Any how thats my 2cents. You also don't need to lash out at me or anything i'm just trying to give you some constructive criticism.

Thank you for your constructive criticism.

I always appreciate constructive criticism. I will grow from your post.

You bring up a good point. I should have gotten a general feel for the forum first before posting videos.

Lesson learned.

For the members of Sosuave I would like to offer my help in the area of building an athletic body.

In my own personal experience, having a naturally muscular body boosts self esteem and helps with the ladies greatly.

What's unsafe about the way Dave Tate says to bench press? The point of bench pressing like he says is to take the stres off the shoulders and have a technique that won't ruin your shoulders. Arching the back and getting your ass off the bench does not push the strain onto the shoulders, in fact it alleviates it by emphasising the lats as being the base to press from, not the shoulders. I find that not arching the back means that my upper back muscles become loose, and my form degrades, putting more stress on the shoulders.

I agree with you that bringing your scapula (shoulder blades) together reduces the stress on the shoulders for the bench press.

However, when your glutes are off the bench, it puts a lot of pressure on your back. You are a lot more stable with your butt on the bench.

Dave doesn't advocate the lifting of the glutes off the bench....If a powerlifter ever did that it would result in a failed lift. They arch there back creating a bowing effect but the glutes are always on the bench.

Someone else also mentioned that there is NO powerlifter or bodybuilder way of benching and they were correct.

Read captain's post. He wrote that dave tate says to lift your butt off the bench. I was responding to him.

Bodybuilders train for size, powerlifters train for strength.

You also have to keep in mind the target market.

Dave Tate is a great instructor for powerlifters. He can add 50lbs to your lifts.

My clients couldn't care less about increasing their bench press. They want a body that's attractive to the opposite sex.
