Having recently read the post “For the college guys who want to meet women”. I was pleased there is a post catering for us guys just starting college/university. This is an excellent read with good advice, but I have to say that some of the advice given in this post is extremely misguided, and plain wrong in most cases.

The post advised having the balls to walk straight into class on the first day and sit right next to the Hottest Babe in there and starting a convo. It then advised number closing shortly after. In other words take advantage of the first weeks of uni (the most productive for Don Juan’s) by wasting no time at all and hitting on the Hottest Babe on the very first day. I think this advice not only is wrong, but also anti-productive in getting a girl.

The purpose of the first weeks (in my opinion) is to befriend those in the class in the class, especially the males and not show you as a threat to them.

If you walk into class sitting next to the hottest babe there you will inform all the rest of the girls who the biggest player is (they don’t like these too much) and simultaneously inform the males on who is the threat (they don’t like these too much) and who they should ****block first.

Don't walk into the class trying to run the place, you'll just put everybody's guard up; play it cool for the first week or so. Other guys will stay cool and quiet for the first couple of days and spot the threats, they will then befriend the rest of the males in the group and turn them against you, the threat.

This happened to me in High School when I walked straight into the class on the first day trying to run the place. It backfired on me as I couldn’t handle this situation, but now I am prepared ;)

I think that on the first day you shouldn’t show attention to one particular female in the class and try to talk to EVERYBODY, make early, non-threatening bonds with everybody in the class then decide who's perfect to hit on.

Believe me, play it cool the first weeks and don't try to run the place just yet, spot who needs to be befriended and who needs to be ****blocked (as they will ****block you). Then when everything goes quiet and everybody has let their guard down you step in and start being the Don Juan that you are!

I also wouldn’t bother hitting on girls in your class as if it all goes wrong you've got to spend the rest of the year with them in your face. I'd use them as contacts so that you can hit on their friends and use them as social proof.

Well there goes my first tip, please tell me what you think.

Oh and tweeder, no disrespect. Some of the advice in your thread ( http://www.sosuave.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?threadid=16671 ) was pure gold! ;)

my tip:

Dress badyboy i.e. tank tops with dirty jeans and a messy hair cut. Then crack the odd joke in class and be friendly to everyone and even gather up some wingmen. People on first impressions will think youre a total 'jerk' but slowly open up to reveal how a ****y/nice/confident person you are.

In my 2 years of college experience I have rarely encountered any c0ckblockers in class. The vast majority of people keep to themselves and pay no attention to conversations of others. I haven't had any problem talking to the hottest girls in class the first day. I do agree with you that it's not wise to close so soon, but not for the same reason. The way I see it, you're going to be able to talk to each other several times so it's better to build up a little more rapport first. It's not like a random approach where you'll never see the girl again.

The difference could just be with colleges where I live, or maybe in only community colleges though.

I agree that you should talk to some people during the first class, and make some friends, but not hitting on a girl the first week? Now I'm not much on hunting, but how you be a big game hunter;spot a ten point buck; then put away your gun just because the season just started? Be still my throbbing libido!

But what really gets me here is that whole "Show you are not a threat/ player" thing. That's the same principle behind why a lot of AFC's I've known won't hit on a girl they don't know, especially if she's standing in a group. They don't want to be percieved as some sort of cavalier playa and in the process they completely miss a valuable opportunity. I'm confused, doesn't the bible say not to start out in the friendzone? Not only that, but these women are in an environment extremely condusive to new people and experiences, and you're going to b1tch out now?!?!?This is exactly what you're purport to do.

I did a post a while back about OtherManSyndrome. Its one of my biggest pet peeves. The whole gist of the thread was how it annoys the hell out of me that a lot of guys seem to lose their b@llz when faced with competition, completely losing sight of the fact that they are the prize. I'm not saying you should walk into the place telling all the women to "come to poppa" and all the men to "Dance monkeyboy dance!". There are other guys in class, presumably several, who will likely have eyes for the same girl as you do, but they are only competition if you make them so. Personally, I'd rather befriend them and have them as a wingman than a rival. Be friendly with them, crack a joke or two, put yourself on their level and roll with it. But no where in that scenario should you or would you have to sacrifice your initiative. Doing so makes you inferior to those who have it and peer to those that don't where you are alternatively peer to those that do and superior to those that don't.

Dude, calm down, let go, have fun. But never subject yourself to anyone out of fear that they won't accept you otherwise. My 2c.

Good idea Cyrano, all the part of "dont care what others think" which makes life much bettter.

Cyrano, what kind of tips can u give for college freshmen? I do talk to everyone i see and things like that, but do u think brining girls to your apratment and starting sexual things right off the bat with more than 1 girl would be a bit risky?

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Just remember that all the women will pretend to dislike you for this - but they will really like you for it.

And there won't be many men with the **** to even DARE this, so all in all I will imagine you will get some respect for this.

Thanks for all the questions, I'll try to answer them.

First of all this is a theory, I am basing my theory on the fact that hitting on the hottest girl you on the first day seems a little DESPERATE.

I like to think the Don Juan focusses on himself and lets the women CHASE HIM, and this is what I was trying to adjust for with my method.

But in hindsight my method seems to be at the other side of the scale from the "hit on a girl the first day method", and maybe too extreme.

So maybe a more refined Don Juan would like to step in and tell us a more appropriate way to handle this situation?

thanks,

Well, forget the theorizing. I just put the idea of sitting next to the hot chick right away and it worked like a dream. I just turned to her and said "Hi," and boom, it went from there. It was especially smooth because she could hold up her side of the conversation. Who cares about guys unless you think they are cool. Who cares about alliances. When you get down to it, it's just you and a girl naked, no one else (I presume).

I don't know what kind of institutions some of you attend, but large lecture halls are pretty tough to pick ppl up in although you can scope girls out and make small contact. It is important in small classes to establish rapport earlier with HBs as the begining of a semester/quarter/term they are the most receptive to meeting new people. Once everyone is set in their ways and sitting in the same place and talking to the same people, it is much more difficult to approach.

Peace.
