Beards?

What about beards? I've been growing one recently. Frankly I think it looks bad, but I have a terrible sense of aesthetics when it comes to my own gender's looks. I've heard from some people the rule "have some facial hair for the first two dates, but not the third" so when I kissed the girl I'm currently after for the first time, I told her "don't worry, I'm planning on shaving this brillo pad." Surprisingly she said she "likes a bit of scruff" - wanted me to keep it. Seems horrible to me to kiss a scruffy person.

Has any research been done on what percentage of women are attracted/unattracted to beards? Best length? Seems like all of my girl-friends comment on it - most are positive, two are extremely negative (oh my god, shave that).

What about grooming techniques? I've just been using an adjustable beard trimmer on the next-to-shortest setting. Still results in a rather full beard... I wish there were a setting between 0 and 1.

I was with a girl last night who kept playing with my "scruff", (I haven't shaved in 4 days), and she said something similar. She likes the scruff or stubble if you will, but hates a full on beard.

In response, I gestured to a group of Rabbis talking nearby, and told her "I think those Rabbis over there have the right idea, I'm going to grow my beard out like them." She replied, "Yeah? Then you won't be getting any, just like those Rabbis."

I shaved this morning.

Rabbis get more than anyone. She's obviously an ignoramus.

women love beards.

even the ones that say they dont, they do.

By beard i mean a lengthy stubble. A full beard of say, 2 -3 weeks, is a matter of taste. But a lengthy stubble- a week or 2 weeks, and trimmed down every so often to prevent it getting too long is perfect.

Especially if your young or look baby faced. Theres something manly and captivating and confident about having some stubble.

Think about it, a geeky weak nerd wouldnt have one.

I had a full on beard for a while (not too long, though) and got a ton of compliments on it. Jokingly I shaved it into a handlebar mustache for a few days, and surprisingly got even more compliments from women. Strange, eh?

Stubble = Painful, Hated by All women
Half-Beard = Sexy, Loved by all women
Full Beard = Manly, loved by women that matter

If you mean stubble, that's cool, but no more than four days growth.

I agree that having facial hair seems to be better, at least from a college observance standpoint.

One of the reasons I like to grow it out and do cool styles with it is because it now grows fairly fast on me. If I don't shave after 2 days I'll have noticeable stubble. After 4-5 days I can trim/design it into something cool.

The other guys on my hall, the huge geeks/nerds, are all babyfaced. And you can tell just by looking at them that they get no female attention whatsoever.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Really? See I would have thought that women would hate this length the MOST just because it's so painful to kiss. Can you really stand this?

Back when I had no beard, if I accidentally went a couple days without shaving, and then made out heavily with my gf, she would literally have a red chin afterwards. Right now, my beard is barely long enough to feel a little "soft" though it is not long enough to look like a full beard. I would have thought that that would be most appropriate, but then again it is kind of an awkward length like I said.

Obviously you kind of need to see what I'm talking about to get a good sense, but the problem is that I've asked girls and they have remarkably varying opinions on the matter - some strongly for, some against.

Stubble rules.

I work in a conservative profession, so during the week I have to shave constantly. But when the weekend comes, the cowboy boots and hat comes out and my razor is gathering dust!

I prefer stuble to beards cuz it looks good on most guys, and you are right, it does graze the skin a little when you make out, but feels amazing on the inside of your thighs. I like a bit of pain to go with my pleasure so stubble is good.

regardless of w/er women like beards or not, that was an AFC move on your part. You re basically apologizing to a woman for your looks in an effort to increase her interest level. Can you see the problem here?

As far as your question, most girls i ve asked said they like how the stubble looks, but not necessarily how it feels.

Why do you care though? i ve had a full beard in the past, in general i shave maybe 1 or 2x a week so I always have some facial hair. If a girl s turned off by it, tough luck for her, i ll just go for her friend.
