How can they determine if you have herpes if you didn't have any sores? If they test your blood and it turns out that you have the anti-bodies for herpes that doesn't necessarily mean that you have Type 2 genital herpes. It could mean that you get cold sores every couple of months on your mouth (Type 1 Herpes).
My understanding of all this is that the only way to test for type 2 genital herpes is to do a swab of the infected area. Given that you never had symptoms then it is probable that you had/have Type 1 Herpes which is something that many people have and should not cause you too much anxiety.
I read a stat once (not sure if its accurate) that over 80% of the population, by the age of 40 have the antibodies for herpes even though most never developed an outbreak on their mouth (Type 1) or genitals (Type 2). Something about how people by that age will have come into contact with the virus over and over and will not show effects of it.
Anyways, that's what I know based on what I've read about STD's in general. Whatever you've got, I feel for you and I hope you pull through ok. I suggest you talk to your doctor and get more information about this stuff. Seems to me like you could just have the antibodies which is not as big as deal as having full fledged Type 2 genital herpes. Also, whatever you have, its not life threatening and their should be no reason why you can't have a regular normal life. Just be honest with your partners and if necessary join all the herpes support groups you can find and pick up chicks over there.
Good luck.
