i love both basketball and soccer, but i hafta choose one of them to play regularly, because i'm already involved in many other activities... i love'em equally so it's not a matter of which one is more appealin' to me... thus, i'm decidin' weather i'm playin' one or the other, basin' off the beneficts... which one would improve my body more? i'm medium-short height (5'9) and very slim, but rather ripped. i'm lookin' forward to add some pounds (i eat a lot but i can't get one miserable pound on:) though, i don't wanna set out a diet) and muscles... which one is the best? i think basketball... but i'd like some advices...

btw, i'm already quite good in both of them and whatever i choice to play agonistically, i'm goin' to play the other one on weekends:)

I'd go with soccer - though too much cardio can make you lose weight if you aren't on a good diet plan.

Both basketball and soccer provide extremely good cardio, the decision of which to play should be made by which you have more fun playing. If you don’t have any fun while playing a sport what is the point? So just think about which one you enjoy more and base your decision on that.

it really does only matter which one you like better. Both are good for the body, but it depends if you want to gain mass or cut.

well based on your height i would choose soccer. being 5'9 for basketball is not a good height

however for improving your body, basketball is a better sport. just compare the physiques of soccer players and basketball players. most pro basketball players are pretty ripped. if you see at the end of a soccer game, when all the guys take off their shirts and bow to the crowd, they're all pretty skinny.... i mean to get muscle you'll have to go to the weightroom and workout and also eat, but basketball allows you to keep it on more. soccer is a lot more running around than basketball, because the field is larger and in a pro game you cant sub in and out and so you lose a lot more weight....

hey showtime17, i agree with you on everythin' you said, except for the height... you see, here in italy, teens play sports already knowin' that they're goin' to stop when they reach their 20s, not bein' a pro... example: my brother is like 6'0-6'1 and he's pretty good at basketball... however, in his team (the one i'd like to join) there are even 5'0 guys that just learned to ball and cannot even dribble, so height would not be a problem at all (consider that i have a good jump, despite my height i can almost grab the rim)
