I remember in school during "sex ed" or "family life" or whatever when they were describing what happens to males in the end stages of puberty, one of the things that happens is the hairline usually recedes some, whether you're destined to go bald or not.
How do you tell if you are going to go bald or if this is just that final stage of puberty?
I also heard that the old wives' tale about the fact that it is a man's mother's father who determines whether or not his grandsons go bald. My mom's dad had a full head of hair (albeit it was blue eventually), so does this mean I'm okay? I read that the trait that determines baldness is on the X chromosome (which is the chromosome given by a boy's mother). Or, am I doomed to become bald because my dad is? Could it be a mixture of the two?
My scalp has receded on the sides, the widow's peak is still there. The top of my head seems fine, its hard to see it though.
I want to take action now and not wait anymore. The rogaine box said it does not fix a receded, adult hairline. My general care doctor the other day said that it does. Maybe Rogaine cannot market that it fixes a slightly receded hairline for legal reasons? Maybe it doesn't fix that part all the time, so it can't be promoted as doing such?
I'm probably not the first to consider all of these factors, what do you all think?
