I use the computer for about 10hours a day and there's no way to cut that down because it includes work.

Anyway, I've been doing that for the past 5years or so. The first 3years was with a 15" CRT and has been pretty problem-free.

2years ago I upgraded to a 17" LCD.

The 1st year has been fine, until this year(the second), I'm starting to get really painful eyes after just 2 - 3hours of use. It gets better when I adjust some of the settings but comes back shortly after my eyes get used to it. This is a major problem because it makes concentrating really difficult and basically zaps everything out of me.

I was wondering which settings should I adjust?
1. Backlight
2. Contrast
3. Brightness
4. Gamma
5. Monitor Angle
6. Monitor Distance (from eye)
7. Monitor Height (it's currently slightly lower than my head, but I can elevate it with a book or something)
8. Ambient lighting? I'm using Orange spotlight.

Im in the same boat. 9 hours a day staring at a monitor. I dont have eye pains but i have huge circles under my eyes. They will never go away. It sucks but i have to get paid. Try taking a break every 45 minutes and just walk around or go to the bathroom or something. Really not much can be done.

I was just thinking that my new LCD monitor seems to be screwing up my eyes.

You know those filters for CRT's? Try getting one of those and it may damper the overall harmfulness/brightness of the screen.

The LCD should not damage your eyes at all as compared to the CRT which will make you blind.....

-Rule one, when you use your computer as it is with the T.V. I know I like to watch it in the dark, but this will hurt your eyes a lot. Make sure you have your lights on because this will prevent eye damage.

-Rule two, adjust your brightness of the screen.

-Rule three, take breaks every hour or two. Staring at anythign other then an HB 7+ is sure to cause eye damage hehe.

With the CRT there would have to be some distance in between you and the monitor, but the LCD does not have any of that radiation or harfull affects as the CRT does.
