do not try to live with this problem! that is your LAST RESORT.

from this day forth, MAKE IT YOUR MISSION TO GET IT TAKEN CARE OF.

one way or another, lots of people have it and they have dealt with it.

sure, it doesn't have to be a deal breaker but why live with it if you don't have to.

go to your dermatologist or another one and ask for non lethal solutions. ask them to brainstorm. ask them for all your options. study, research yourself. find out, try stuff. get it done.

i had moderate acne when i was a kid and clinique soap (or changing hormones... they could have coincided so i'm not too sure) really helped.

luck

Dude i've practically gone insane with research for years. i dont know wat to do anymore, ive tried everyting. Its all i think about. Accutane is all their is, its semi lethal.

Yes that is by far the best option...it's a pill everyday (depending on what your dermotologist puts you on...could be up to 3 possibly more but i doubt) for about 5 months...and you have to go in every month to draw blood...takes all of a few minutes. Accutane is wonderful, what it does...it shrinks your oil glands wayyyy down, and thus having no break outs when you are on it. If you don't do the full duration...there is a likely chance it will come back.

creams i've taken in order were Different > Retin A > and some other cream that i can't remember.
and the pills i took helped keep flare ups away and to help decrease scaring

Personally i've taken it...and recently just started my 3rd dose. I had bad acne...and tried everything on the scale of creams and pills and nothing worked. I was acne free while on the meds but it came back afterwords...because i didn't do it EVERY single day and stopped before the duration was done. So i went on it a second time and it stepped my breakouts way way way down but i still got them...and now i'm on my 3rd not half assing anything and i'm sure it'll go away.

Side effects can suck though but you get used to it. such as really bad dryness...mostly to your lips...gonna end up carrying lipbalm everywhere. and for me it was a little harder to see in teh dark...and unfortunately that carried over and i still can't see totally good in the dark but...i need glasses to drive at night anyways...

and that's that.

and i have no trouble getting hot girls at the age of 20 with very minimal acne right now.

as far as it being lethal...that's the dumbest **** i've heard.

i'll tell you exactly what's on this card "you should stop taking this when..."

-start to feel sad or have crying spells
-lose interest in activities you one enjoyed
-sleep too much or have trouble sleeping
-become more irritable, angry, or aggresive than usual
-have a change in your appetite or body weight
-have trouble concentrating
-withdraw from yuor friends or family
-feel like you have no energy
-have feelings of worthlessness or guilt
-start having throughs about hurting yourself or taking your own life (suicidal thoughts)
-start acting on dangerous impulses
-start seeing or hearing things that are not real

what it comes down to is...getting depression to a high degree.
not once have i had any of these...cept i like to sleep a lot...that's just who i've always been.

as far as your liver...you shouldn't drink heavily while on it...and you should be fine. PERIOD.

sorry dj that it hasn't been working so far,

KEEP AT IT! if it didn't work, ditch it... always think WHAT ELSE?

what about daily habits? how frequently do you wash your face? with what? is your face dry or oily? try clinique soap - can't hurt and it's an $11 gamble. WHAT ABOUT oxy pads? tried them?

antibiotic rub on stuff? i used that for a while... smelled horrible but it may have helped.

WHAT DOES YOUR DERMATOLOGIST SAY? does HE/SHE (and you may consider going to a woman if you haven't - THEY know how important appearance is) that you have to live with it?

ask them what the prognosis is. is it just something you have to live with. PRESS THEM FOR AN ANSWER! LIKE THEY WERE GOD! make them tell you what's what. and then, get a second opinion.

have you TRIED proactive? if not, try. try everything. don't let it just meander in your mind about whether it'll work or not.

try it.

ultimately, it MIGHT BE that you have to live with it. but especially if you're young, it will probably subside with time. in the meantime, you can practice being brave.... doing all the dj stuff, pimples be damned.

but before you hunker down and try to tough it out, there's STILL STUFF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED OR ASKED RIGHT?

EXHAUST ALL OPTIONS.

again, good luck. you're not alone and there're worse fates.

I had bad acne and it effects your game totally, more confidence. I've seen guys with acne puling girls. Girls don't judge quite the same as guys, acne on a girl is the worst thing however girls can look past it however it certainly isn't a selling point.

I was on accutane, horrible side effects but worth it. When it gets bad then you need to take drastic steps. My skin wasn't perfect after, some very minor scars but more open pores.

Here's the thing - Use Glycolic acid every week and exfoliate. I takes away the first layers of skin and therefore the body creates more colligen by 8 times and resurfaces the skin. This decreases scaring, wrinkles, open pores and gives a more even complexion. I've been using it for 8 months and my skin now looks better and younger than it has since I was about 14. It's cheap too.

Yea mynight vision got messed up too, i tookit twice already this is my third too as well. My acne is so bad id sacrifice a little vision to clear it up. Mine was clear for about 10 months after my last course. first came the oily skin, then some small pimples, then by the 12-13 mionths after my skin was horrid. Im now 2 months into it and my skin is still awful, but its dry as a bone so im thinkin its about to start doin its magic. probably all the colgged up sh*t that was in my pores had to come out and still is. I hate this accutane stuff cuz of the dry lips, skin, night vision probs, and it even makes me very moody. I think it led to me tellin off this girl i liked, and ruinign any chances with her. But i looked f*cking great that 10 months without acne, felt human for once in my life. I could eat fast food, drink, and girls thought i was cute all the time. Now i see them gawking at the giant scabs on my face, it sux.

my family thinks im nuts, i go to the store and buy carrot juice, flaxseed, all this crazy sh*t. ive tried it all. Oxy pads r for mild acne, very mild acne. But yea guess i gotta keep on trying. It just sux cuz people with bad acne never can enjoy themselves. i see my friends down 3 slices of pizza, 5 beers and never get a pimple. if i do that im in pimple hell for 2 weeks. Even if i dont do that i have enuff. Its a crappy feelin alwasy bein subconscious bout ur face.

Diet has no effect on acne. It's related to testosterone levels.

I had terrible angry red spots, sometimes boils, on my face and back from 13 until 22 when I was prescribed (Ro)Accutane.

For the first few years it ruined my confidence - what girl would want a pizza face? But I learnt to cover the spots with concealer and with this added boost to my confidence found that women - hottt women - weren't too bothered about my bad skin. It wasn't a bonus, but it wasn't a deal-breaker either.

Where do u buy concealer? Is there a particular brand uu use thats non-coemdogenic? I asked my sis to by me one and have been using it for yrs, its a lifesaver cuz it matches my skin tone perfectly, but it also clogs the crap outta my pores and im sorry for it a few days later. unfortunaltely the big ones covered up look worse, and the scabs from recently open pimples impossible to cover up cuz their not smooth and the coverup cakes over them. Please help!

hey i was exaggerating a bit when i said its lethal, theres no way in hell im not takin accutane, ive already taken it twice before. Im just sayin it is not good for ur body and who knows the long term probs it can cause, its only been around since the 80's and didnt get popular till the 90's. We shall see. But besides that is the fatc that its only a temp solotion, i took it twice and it seemed to come back worse each time. Imagine takin accutane 10-20 times the rest of my life, that cant be good. As far as the depression, i get very down while on it,def not suicidal or anything like that, just makes me have mood swings, and get agitated alot. I snap at people for stupid stuff. Nothin i cant handle ive handled it before, but its annoying. I feel less excited bout stuff too. but not horibly so its not too bad. the last time 2 times i thoguht it was jsut my imaginatioon, but now i feel the same way.

The cheaper concealers tend to be too orangey, experiment with testers on the back of your hand for the right tone.

You might want to try a tinted moisturiser or light foundation. Do you know how many A-list male stars cover up their skin with make-up, on and off set?

Even so, it's not an ideal solution, and I'd try and get back on the Accutane. It's got a 'dangerous' rep now, but they wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't safe.

I experienced dry skin and chapped lips, but that faded and the spots stayed away, mostly.

Good luck and don't let them stop you from doing what you want. Women will judge you more on how you deal with the problem than the spots themselves.

How old are you, I had VERY bad acne when I was between 14-17 and the effect on my confidence was total, that's when I used accutane and luckily I haven't had a return to that. If it ever got that bad again (or close) - I would use accutane again.

The glycolic acid isn't a miracle cure but it can elliminate acne and improve tone if the skin isn't too bad to begin with, once it's fixed it might help to keep it that way.

Now this isn't the recommended use, but I put 50% (just a bottle of it raw, no product) on and leave it (not recommended), and I do this once a week. The next day, it peels a bit but not much. It looks like I've been out in the sun without the tan. The best thing is, you can see the blackheads and pores are sooo much clearer. The acne doesn't get a chance to build because in my experience acne clusters from other blackheads/spots. The pores themselves also begin to close. Even active spots seem to heal alot faster.

I wish I had discovered it earlier.

One warning - i did alot of experimenting to find what was best for me. I did "burn" apart of my face, nothing major, it actually helped in the long term however I wouldn't recommend it.

Im 25, they will not go away. Im on my 2nd month of accutane and my acne is so bad it still hasnt reponded much. I think within a few weeks i shouldnt be getitn any more, at least thats how it wokred last time. It totally destroys my confidence, its easy to say to b confident, but when u have giant red bumps all over ur face and scabs and scars, u feel like wats the pt of even talkin to girls. I almost feel bad for them for haivng to turn me down. i wouldnt go near a girl that had half as much acne as i go. its ugly.

tell me:

how frequently you wash your face. what do you wash your face with?

how long is your hair? long hair can DEFINITELY exascerbate an acne condition.

do you compulsively TOUCH your face. a study was done about acne and students and it was discovered that kids got more acne near exams because they nervously touch their face a lot.

important questions.

Ask a person without acne to touch their face 300 times a day, and i guarantee they will not have pimles from it. I mean i agree with u ive noticed it on myself that if i dont touch my face as much, it gets a little better, but still thats not the root cause of the problem, cuz i know some dirty, unhealthy guys that have no acne at all. I knew one guy who had disgusting dirty hair full of dandruff, looked like henever washed it, he smelled too so i doubt he showered often, and his diet was terrible. hed eat chips and soda before class at 8 am. I never saw the guy eat a vegetable or drink anything but soda or beer. And his face is clear as anything.
