Awkward First Day

So I just started today at a community college in a new area since i just moved, and i basically dont know anybody, anyways i was so afc today, everyone was around talking before class and i didnt know what to do, i didnt talk to anybody i just walked around, i wasnt trying to be social in some classes, but i felt like i couldnt even talk like i was talking so soft, usually im pretty loud and funny and talkative, but when it comes to new things i just shut off and cant socialize, How am i gonna meet knew people like this!

Community colleges, I'm guessing, tend to be fairly cliquish because lots of the people there went to the same high schools. Don't sweat it; it's not entirely your fault.

My advice:
1) Try harder to socialize
2) Seek out your own high school friends for some support/wingmen.

quite right. The very least you can do is converse with the guys/gals sitting next to you. It's not like you have anything better to do while you're there.

thanks guys, i really appereiciate your advice, but idk man i dont have any friends here, and i was just a blank quite kid today, really frustrating because i know i have this great personality i can show people, but it just isnt happening

i've been on both sides of the fence, community college and universitys, and it is much hard to make friends and meet people at community college. you can always make comments after class to people and see how they respond. also, sign up for facebook, and try using that!

it wont just happen cause alot of people are just as scared as you are to start a conversation and more of them are so mundane they wont do anything to make their lifes better for fear of losing what they think they have. i can tell you really want to get to know people at your college. i was once there to. get to know a few people just think up a few conversation starters besides hows the weather such as what Docs told you earlier and the people who blow you off. Screw EM and those who talk back and give a name try to remember them and where you seen them and you can talk to them when you see them. just talk like you know them and dont worry what they think about you cause thats the main cause of awkward conversations or at least in most of my awkardest cases. and remember even the funnest and most lively people in the world have their occasional awkward moments.

On the other hand, I've been to very cliquish groups and tried to befriend people so I know it's not always as easy as Doc says. Still, you shouldn't quit trying. What else are you gonna do when you're at community college: Just do your homework, show up, and listen to the teacher? Freakin' talk to people. You don't even know if the people are cliquish/unfriendly if you haven't tried socializing.

And read the Bible if you haven't yet.

hah, try one every class, n00b. The main reason your day is awkward is because you're sitting in a desk next to another person without trying to communicate with them.
