The Dallas Stars will be without chief agitator Sean Avery tonight when they face the Flames after Avery was suspended indefinitely by the NHL for comments he made to reporters earlier in the day.

"I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada," Avery said on camera this morning in Calgary. "I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. Enjoy the game tonight."

Avery was referring to actress Elisha Cuthbert. , who is currently dating Flames' All-Star defenceman Dion Phaneuf and used to date Avery

I'm still looking
Bettman and the owners of the NHL ruined the league. While I don't like what he said suspending him is just stupid.

For those of you that don't like hockey, Avery is the BIGGEST tool in the whole sport. The average fan would like to bash his face in if given the opportunity.

I agree that the NHL isn't what it used to be...... since the rules changed to favor more of a skating than physical game I really haven't watched it.... To me that totally removed one of the most entertaining aspects of the game.

That being said I find it ridiculous that Avery was suspended for his comment. He didn't even use profanity.... I can't stand hearing these things... it's like whatever happend to freedom of speech?

The fact that an innocuous statement like that garnered this much punishment and media attention only adds more evidence that we indeed are living in a feminized society.

Seems like Stars were looking for any excuse to get rid of that guy. I would think they could have come up with something better than this though...

Yeah...punch a guy in a face...ALL GOOD and encouraged!
Call your ex "sloppy seconds"...your @ss is done.

With such ridiculously low tv ratings that NHL gets, this is just another nail in the coffin for them.
